Hello, I am Vadania, an elven druid from the Steadlands, in need of new companions to thwart the demons that have been released from long imprisonment.
I was there in Clearwater the fateful day when the first of the demons was released from it's prison. I found out It had been held in a barrier of holy water, but the town of Clearwater had been using that as their prirmary source of water for a long time. So the barrier failed and the demon was released. That demon in turn released other demons. In the ruins beneath Clearwater I and my companions found a book of images about the conflict where the demons had been sealed, along with items of power used in that fight.
My companions and I did what we could to thwart the demons work in the Steadlands, ending their control of that region. Some of my companions and I followed the demons to the desert city of Alamut. There we saved the city and again thwarted the demons.
Now I will be crossing the sea to follow the demons and thwart them as much as I can, while my old companions stay to raise the armies needed to confront these demons head on. So I am looking for new companions for the next leg of the journey.
A Storm over the Steadlands is a long running PBP game, that's been running since 2011. We have just finished a story arc and reached level 9. However the other remaining player no longer has the time for this game and had to drop out.
Note, I am NOT the DM, I'm Vadania's player. I'm posting this invite because I have the DNDBeyond account to do so.
I think the DM is doing a very good job presenting a variety of challenges and resources, and dealing with all the crazy ideas we come up with. Also he helps people make the character they want to play. For example, when I wanted to make a feline front line fighter, but was having problems because the feline races are agile, not strong, he provided information about playing a weretiger, which fit what I was trying to do exactly :-)
This came is run on an old forum that used to have dozens of PBP games running. The rest have closed down, but this one is still going. You can look at the past posts to decide if you are interested. To post you'll need to join that server, but that's free.
The links to the threads are in the original message. You can read them without creating an account, but to post you'll need to create a free account on that server. Once you do so you can post in the New Player thread to let him know you are interested.
Still time to join, just introducing the new characters so far.
Pretty much anything published for 3.5 has been allowed. The DM seems to have most of the books. Also the DM is good at finding the combination of races and classes to make the character you want to play.
For example, I wanted to make a feline melee type, but the tabaxi weren't suited for that role. He gave me the info to make a weretiger, which fills the role perfectly :-)
I'm brand new to D&D and would probably require some tutelage until I catch my bearings and understanding of the inner workings of the game itself. That being said, I've been involved in text-based role-play and creative writing for years. Just found D&D and have become extremely interested in the gameplay and storytelling aspects.
You are welcome to join this game. The DM is very helpful helping people to make the character they want to play.
However, this game is version 3.5 of D&D, while the current version is version 5. So this is an old game using an old system, which is different than what most people are playing.
So while you are welcome to join, you might do better with one of the games using the current D&D rules, which would teach you how to play the D&D used for most games nowadays.
