As Oji comforted him Bomon attempted to show the strength and resolve of the older man despite the dim outlook.
“I hope so...I never imagined being locked away from the world... but I know whatever is down there, whatever we encounter we will need to help each other.”
Ravi lets out a sigh. "You know, I guess I can't complain about going to a place filled with people who are considered criminals. Hell I might find it like heaven" He said as he was trying to look on the bright side of things. His mind began to wonder into things that maybe those who had raised him were down here in the depths. He began to stay quiet as he continued to compilate everything.
Your guards proceed with the wagon downward with caution, talking rarely, and barely raising their voices above a whisper even when they do. Their unease and caution are palpable to all as if expecting danger around any corner. The tunnel ahead twists and turns, occasionally dipping into a harrowing incline for minutes at a time. Various small passages cut away from the path, but the guards leading the way seem to know their route well.
(OOC: This part of the journey takes a couple of in-game hours so you can continue to converse, trade stories, speculate about what is to come, etc.)
Oji leaned back, the gentle creak of the cart blending with the steady clatter of wheels on stone. With his eyes closed, he let the rhythm of the journey carry him into song, his voice warm and steady, filling the tunnel with something softer than the dark.
As Bomon listens to and appreciates the familiar tune, he's also watching the guards and their caution. Their tense posture and wary eyes starkly contrast the hope woven into the song. Bomon gestures toward the guards and asks the group, his voice carrying a mix of curiosity and unease,
Ravi looks to Bomon with a mischievous look as he sits there. "Maybe there's some super dangerous pack animals that specifically hunt for these carts in this area and thats why the guards are on edge" He said with a straight face, but he wanted to see how long he could take this joke of his, and wondered if the guards were paying attention to what he was saying as well.
Tyjra glances at the guards after hearing Ravi's idea in response to Bomon's question. She chuckles slightly, thinking that can't be real. The guard's expressions remain emotionless. She watches as the nooks and crannies of the route pass by and remembers some memories from her childhood. "As a child, I used to enjoy puzzle games; I wonder if those skills will be useful along the way. These tunnels sure are vast, it seems."
Bomon appears slightly irritated with Ravi’s tone. “I don’t know this place, and I'm not sure you do either,” he says, gesturing toward the guards. “They aren’t acting like this for no reason. Like Tyjra mentioned, these tunnels seem never ending. Who knows where these caverns lead to or from? Anything could be out there” His gaze lingers on the guards. "This place is going to be so different who knows what's even valuable or not."
Ravi nods as he looks at Bomon notices his slight irritation and sighs.
"These guards are just pawns to the system of what House Tallona is about, but they don't realize they will soon be where we are when their masters are done with them!" He seemed to have gotten agitated now after knowing just how the people who lived around him felt. He didn't think these guards were innocent, and he didn't care if they died. He truly cared about those who were starving because they didn't want to live off the suffering of others, what he felt the true people around him had felt. It wasn't too far to say he was an Anarchist, and cared about those he considered his neighbors and friends.
"Pawns huh? You have some fascinating insight, Ravi. Care to share some more?" Tyjra prods in a tone of piqued interest. Then she nods at Bomon, addressing his comments, "You're right; we'll all have to determine what's valuable and not."
Sifting through her memories again, she lands on something she overheard during her sentencing and speaks to the group, "You might take this with a grain of salt," her voice just above a whisper now, "but I heard talk of a dark crystal down below that's making folk sick."
Oji sat with an easy patience, his gaze drifting between the young voices filling the cart and the shifting darkness beyond. He nodded along as they spoke, offering quiet acknowledgment without interrupting their conversation. His eyes, however, remained watchful, tracing the shapes that flickered past in the dim tunnel.
Feeling the tension in Bomon’s voice, he reached over and gave his nephew’s knee a gentle pat—a small, grounding gesture.
Your journey on the wagon continues for what you'd estimate to be approximately two hours before you arrive at a broad cavern that splits off into two snaking tunnels. The left path is wider with clear ruts in the store floor from the many wagons that must've traveled it. To the right is a more narrow and rough path that somehow exudes a more ominous feeling. The sellswords accompanying the wagon direct it to the rightmost exit, where a short while later they stop the wagon and wait.
One of the sellswords uses his cudgel to strike the bard of your cage and say, "Oi that enough talking be silent.
Taking care to keep their voices too low to overhear, the sellswords' body language appears slightly nervous to anyone paying attention. Due to your greater insight into people, Oji you pick up a bit more on their nervousness. While earlier it was more the wariness of those on the lookout for danger, now it seems more the nervousness of those about to meet someone... or something which makes them nervous.
(OOC: You have a little more time to RP if you'd like, but assume if any of you try and talk to one of them or louder than a whisper to each other, then one of the sellswords will give you a smack with a cudgel and say to shut up. I say this in case you wanted to include that happening in your RP.)
Bomon somewhat steadies his nerves with the help of his uncle’s calming presence. He nods his head slightly, signaling that he's okay. At the guard’s command, he falls into silence and shifts his focus to the surrounding area.
Tyjra winces in pain, and her shackles clang slightly. She steadies herself and watches as their path narrows, observing any details she sees. Then, her gaze lingers on guards as they traverse ahead.
Oji merely keeps watch, waiting for what will come. He keeps an eye on his younger companions but doesn't say anything with the guards warning in his mind.
Ravi quietly watches the others before he looks to the guards and he starts to move his hands and arms with little space he had to do so. His chains were starting to clang together as he used the motion to increase the speed of the sounds. He wanted to test these guards some more to see just what they were afraid of.
"Is something the matter over there guards? I don't understand why you guys are so nervous....its just you guys and us here in this cage." He asked as he clearly spoke rather loud in protest of what the guards had ordered.
Immediately following Ravi's defiance of their command, the sellsword who'd spoken it walks over and says, "I said be quiet!" before smacking Ravi sharply over the head causing him to briefly see stars. As he steps away to return to the others, you all catch him sneering at Ravi in the sort of way a man who knows something unpleasant soon waits you before walking back to join the others.
After roughly fifteen minutes, a dim, orangey-red glow climbs across the walls of the cavern ahead, casting a pair of long shadows. For a moment, the guards surrounding your wagon tense up notably, hands hovering close to their weapons, before the approaching figures move closer and they seem to recognize them.
As the pair move closer you see a young man with long, slick black hair that frames his face, his symmetrical features darkened by a faint dusting of stubble. You notice he glances towards you all as he approaches, watching you intently, something between amusement and curiosity dancing in his eyes, but his expression is mostly still. He wears a mottled grey gambeson threaded with long strips of splint armor, and a wickedly sharp knife gleams at his belt.
His companion is small and mouselike, a sullen and pale girl, her arms thin and her odd, silvery bright eyes rimmed by dark bags. She has messy, black hair and wears a simple shift, her belt adorned with a few practical tools – pitons, knives, rope, and other basic necessities for life underground you'd expect.
Upon arriving the pair begin to converse with sellswords, and after a while the young man with slick black hair, gestures towards Tomas aggressively before saying a few more words.
Tomas seeing this shrinks back in fear and says, "Oh, I-I have a bad feeling about this…"

"A blossom small upon the stream,
So light it floats, so soft it gleams.
The rushing waters call it near,
Yet kindness guides, it need not fear.
It drifts through shadow, lost from sight,
Yet finds the stars within the night.
No mighty branch, no roots run deep,
Yet still it dreams, yet still it seeks.
Oh gentle current, kind and true,
Carry it where the blossoms bloom.
And when the journey meets its rest,
May it find the river’s crest."
