[Ra'sakar rolls a 4 + 3 = 7, untrained, but permitted to check since it involves his hometown] Oy, Sorala, I hope you aren't wanting us to steal anything. I grew up there. Though I don't recall there being an Azure Tower when I lived there... I wonder if your intel about the item is correct?
The above thought is directed all at the table. Ra'sakar's emerald eyes are locked on to Sorala, angry at the idea that he would have to visit his birth city only to become a criminal there.
Another thing I feel we need to know: what is the item, and how long is this "companion" travelling with us? Until we reclaim the item or until the end of the Hydra?
"All I can say it's a heirloom to our House, stolen hundred of years ago. It resembles a mastercrafted jewel, but it is so much more than just that. The reason why I'm not allowed to say more than this is the same reason why you'll be joined by an agent of ours, who will recognize it and keep it when you find it. You won't be stealing it... it's not being kept in the Obsidian City, but a few miles away, in what some local explorers call the Forsaken City."
She gives a swift but obvious look at Ra'sakar, just before having a full spoon of milk from the bowl in front of her. After tasting it, she puts the bowl down the table in front of her dog.
"Have some, Parpadeo. Our agent will join you until the item is recovered, at which time he'll only follow you to make sure you're granted proper passage through the Hydra River. Even if he's very competent, you'll be expected to protect him from danger if it arises."
Lerithyn has asked his question and is confident he won't get any more information than that. He nods his appreciation and begins eating a hearty breakfast in preparation for the journey. Whether the group leaves by their own ship or hers, he cares not. He's just satisfied at the wonderful farewell meal.
So many gems like that. It'd be difficult to find. I've little reason to doubt you're lying about it being a family heirloom though - at least, it was probably not made by the Sulatar if it's a gemstone. Well, I've never trusted your boats - I've even seen a couple fall to the Roil, contrary to your claims, but help is help, so I will leave the decision to the others.
The thought weaves its way into the minds of everyone at the table. Ra'sakar leans back and looks at the others for their opinion - do they help her or not.
Assuming we accept your offer, when do we meet this travelling companion?
Cassiel leaves his room after a not so relaxing night of sleep as he had hoped for and joins his companions at the extensive breakfast table. Looking to the halfling he says: Lady Sorola, thank you for this most precious meal. All looks rightful for an ir'Wynarn or any duke or duchess of any House. Regarding your request for our assistance… (inside Cassiel's mind he hears - yes, a promise of reward and another weakling to serve us as fother - to that the response was - despite what Adriel says we should ofer help to all who need it, reward or no reward.
After this mental debate Cassiel focus once more at the hafling and continues: … I think my companions and I would be glad to help someone in need of assistance, specially someone that can aid us in our travel. What say you all?
After that Cassiel takes some juice and small portions of bread and cheese and start enjoying it waiting for his companions.
Lerithyn nods as he finishes his pastry, "Yes. At the very least this will take some of the burden off the first leg of our journey... assuming the ship is ready to depart this morning." He nods to Lady Sorola, "May I take a few of these," he gestures toward the table, "delicious foods with us?" He reaches for a bottle of grape juice and makes to add it to his bag, "We'll likely not have a chance to eat civilized food for a while." He hesitates, waiting for a response.
I believe it is better to head for Last Chance by land, then go to the Obsidian City - the Obsidian City is not easy to get to from the river. The wind is against us today, and I'd feel better starting the journey on foot. At the latest, we'd arrive there tomorrow if we leave 45 minutes from now, meeting 35 minutes from now at the west gate.
Ra'sakar walks over to a map of Stormreach on the wall of the Chapterhouse. He taps on a building halfway between the Chapterhouse and the west gate. This building is the workshop and store of a warforged called Gearbox.
I personally recommend this shop, Gearbox Gear, which sells, among other things, two-person tents and sleeping bags, if those things are required. Last Chance will provide us with eternal rations at a lower price than in Stormreach, so I highly recommend we go there before the Obsidian City. Even though we can forage, once we get to the frostlands, it will be much harder to do so, and we'll have to rely on rations.

Cassiel tries to focus on Ra'sakar's telepathic speech while quenching Adriel's banter who was screaming in his mind -Why dismiss a joyful and easy boat ride in which we wouldn't need to do a thing and decide to walk and spend a night in the jungle to satisfy those people?! - to that Barachiel hastily interjects saying - We were sent here to be guided by locals trusted by the University and the Wayfinder Foundation, we shouldn't question their choice of path to follow if they haven't given us any reason to distrust them.
No addressing the table Cassiel says: I trust that master Ra'sakar's chosen path will be the best one to be taken, specially since he does know a shop in this path that will offer us supplies at lower cost. Lady Sorola if your envoy that should accompany us to complete your request would agree we will take master Ra'sakar's path and depart immediately, I only need some rations to take in our journey, AND some ale if we can afford it.
With a shake of his head, Cassiel waits the others to finish and accompany them to gather the needed resources.
"AH yes that their is the Gearbox Gear!" A man calls from across the room. "A lot more gear there than here that's for sure!" The voice comes from a man of medium height though he slightly limping towards the wall. After making his slow but steady way there he rests his Quarterstaff and himself against the wall. "Yes not a finer place to get supplies, sometimes I have my men go there just to sharpen their blades. Cheaper by half." he says with a wink. "The name's Stribog Northson, Sergeant of the City Watch here in Stormreach. A pleasure to meet you sir." He smiles and puts out a hand out to Ra'sakar in a friendly gesture.

A pleasure to meet you, Stribog. My name is Ra'sakar, and I'm a friend of Gearbox. He's always grateful for your soldiers choosing his services over those of his competitors. Myself and those at the table I was sitting at just before, apart from the halfling and blink dog, are soon to head out to the jungles, and we were debating whether to take a boat to Last Chance or to travel there overland. Though, come to think of it, what would a sergeant of the watch be doing in the Chapterhouse at this time of day? I thought officers of such high rank were required to stay at the barracks for another half-hour from now due to paperwork.
The thought snakes its way into Stribog's mind as Ra'sakar grasps the offered hand in a firm handshake, then gestures at the table he had been sitting at.

After the shock of someone speaking in his mind leaves him, Stribog grabs his staff and walks toward the table. "Ah yes, well apparently throwing a fire bolt at a man trying to beat an elder is frowned upon here....as well as beating another unconscious for threating his wife." He nods a greeting back to Aukan and continues with his tale. "Unfortunately my Captain has suspended me indiffentaly until he can figure out what to do with me." Stribog pauses with a look of puzzlement as if he is trying to find the right words. "Well, let's just say that I'm a little to.....excessive when it comes to perusing justice. As to why I'm here," he pauses as a server brings him a mug. "Best damn coffee in the city!" He laughs as he downs the liquid.

"Well sir, begging your pardon but not much serving a jungle needs!" Laughing at his own joke. Yet seeing the seriousness of the question he clears his throat, "Truth be told I don't know much about the jungles. As for Zendikar I know that it's not fiends you need worrying about, but the land itself." Stribog puts down his mug growing more somber as he continues the story. "People talk about strange happens there about lakes flying up out of the ground and crushing anything in its wake. Or mountains in the shapes of men raging throw the lands. I've even heard tell that there be trees that come to life just to munch the bones of any that get close." He looks down at his mug now empty. Then looks back to Aukan with a smile, "Course, that's what I've heard from the drunks in the mess tank hahaha. Could you imagine though? I heard them tell of a place called Emeria, I think. A temple in the sky if you believe them. I wouldn't mind seeing that in my life time haha!" Stribog looking a little more concerned, "If you don't mind me asking, what business do you have with Zendikar?"

Only half of those tales are true. As for what business we have, the goliath, human, and aasimar are scholars from Morgrave, and the kor, the warforged, and myself are to keep them safe. The plan is to head to Dowron's Shield down at the far south of the continent. That halfling wants us to change our course to help House Ghallandra, but is offering us quicker travel in return.
Ra'sakar gestures to each person around the table as the thought reaches Stribog's mind, timed perfectly with the time the thoughts register in his mind. The thought is shared with everyone around the table, so they know that Stribog knows. The next thought starts in a jovial manner though towards the end it becomes more thoughtful, as if Ra'sakar was considering the merits of the idea.
He knows nought of the jungle. Why not bring him along? It's not like he's much work to do now that his captain fired him, and he has an aptitude for magic, as he mentioned earlier.

"Well now," Lerithyn thinks he spots a nod from Lady Sorala and takes that as a queue he can gather what he needs. He drops the grape juice into his bag followed by a few more sweetcakes and a large melon. "We've been told to make nice with the locals, so I see no harm in allowing the Sergeant to join us in exploring the continent he's sworn to protect."
