Inwardly Valaith sighs, realizing she is probably being ripped off, but instead nods as she reaches into the small, hide pouch attached to her belt. She fishes about for a moment and removes a gold piece of dwarven mintage, looking tiny compared to her large fingers as she sets it down on the countertop. She keeps her fingertip pressed down atop the coin as she continues in dwarven. "If you can offer me a reasonable rate, I'd be interested in a long term rent of your rooms." She lifts up her finger off the coin. "Two more things. Who do I seek out for work in this town? And how much for a round of ale for the room out of respect for your dead?"
He is, however, somewhat mollified by her gesture to the community.
"Tha'll be sixteen silver," he remarks with a cough, his mood now a little less prickly. "If it's mercenary work y'r aft'r, see Anders over Quenlan Row. I'm sure 'e c'n fin' somethin' f'r y'."
Valaith nods as she digs out two more gold pieces and sets them next to the first. "Anders at Quelan Row. Thank you. Might I ask your name, goodsir dwarf?"
"M'name is Hurrig, and who do I ave the pleasure of meeting?" Hurrig turns to the woman, rubs his face quickly trying to get the muck off of it. He smiles at Valaith.
Valaith returns the smile with a nod. “That’s the idea, Ringrut. I am Valaith Rimehand of the Kalukavi clan.” She takes her mug in hand and raises up to acknowledge th round of cheers. “And I am very new here. I have heard money can be found here for those that work hard and can fight. I can do both.”
When Hurrig suddenly introduces himself, Valaith turns to him in surprise. “Oh, I am Valaith Rimehand of the Kalukavi clan. Pleasure to meet you, Hurrig.”
"Always work fer th' mines, lass- ehm...ma'am." The last word seemed to draw out a little longer than Bründir intended. "More fin' better pay in there, but th' caravans'll bring a few hands on to take'em home safe. Keeps us all friendly."

Syl listened to dwarfs lamenting about the loss of a friend. He understood loss all to well. Although Syl had attempted to be nonchalant in his listening he visibly was uncomfortable when Grothir said the words 'damn elves'. Even though he was only partially elf, he always had felt closer to that side of his heritage.
"Well it is certainly a pleasure Valaith." Hurrig turns to Grothir. "Friend Grothir! Arn't ya a sight fa sore eyes. What has ya so quiet tanight?" Hurrig gives the dwarf a friendly shove, almost too friendly and knocking Grothir off his stool.

"'s tha' skruff Quinton! -HIC- 'E's dun gone'n turned 'is back on Khaz a Grungron! Tha's wha..." Grothir slurs through his ale. His beard is lined with foam.
"We wuz BROTHERS the men 'n' the Khazukan! We built this 'ere place together 'n' 'e turns away from us f'r wha? Dammaz elves 'n' their dammaz bryn..."
He trails off incoherently, but it's clear that the governor has made some kind of deal with the elves that hurts trade with the closest dwarven Hold.
“Looking for work Vark? I’ve been traveling around as well, but I’m running low on coin. Might have to pull a few odd jobs together to scrape up some coin before setting back out myself. Archibald eyes the Goliath that just blew the dwarf off the seat after eavesdropping on their conversation. “By the looks of it, that giant is looking for work too. We might want to get a cut for ourselves.”
"This trade deal seems ta 'ave erryone on edge. Least I know is if there is ore ta mine, there is work fa me." Hurrig turns to face Ringrut, "I'm sure there a way we can make em both happy?" Hurrig takes a long draw on his ale and starts twiddling his thumbs. "Although, if the govner works us any harder in them there mines, he's gonna have some more of them boys be dead."

"Uhm, well... yeah I suppose I should find a way to make some money." Vark looks around, surveying the interactions happening between the dwarves and the goliath. "I'm not much of a miner though."
"Lads, lads," Grothir turns to Hurrig and Bründir once more. "Cannae y'ave a word wit'im? Right 'is 'head? Quinton's stubborn as a dwarf, but 'e 'aint got rocks f'brains. There must be somethin' more t' this."
"I s'pose we could in tha mornin. Bründir, what ya think?" Hurrig looks back to Grothir, putting his arm around trying to console him a little bit. "I certainly don' think it it could hurt tha situation more."

Sylelor hears this talk of the elves and how they are trying to buy out all of Sheercleft's metal shipments and recalls that bandit attacks on the edge of Eldren forest have grown more frequent and more organised in recent months. The elven warriors are spread thin trying to fight them everywhere.
Syl shook his head to himself. The dwarfs were angry about elf’s buying all of the metal but the elf’s need the metal to protect themselves from the bandits.
Syl then mutters loud enough for everyone to hear but not to a particular person “We aren’t trying to hurt no trade, we need to protect ourselves from all the bandits running around.”
Hurrig darts his eyes to the new voice. "Speak up friend, come join us fa a drink, on me. Name's Hurrig, I'm a little less begrudging towards you elves, though ya still arn't my favorite; but thaat's a whole nother story for a whole nother round a drinks." Hurrig lets out a hardy belly laugh, his cheeks rosy, no longer from the cold mountain air, but from the ale he's been drinking all night.

Ringrut chuckles and hands Valaith back five silver pieces, slightly more than he'd said she was due.
"Aye, the name's Ringrut, lass. Y'really are new in these parts if if y'dunno tha'."
