Within the satchel, Archy finds quills and inks, six blank sheets of fine paper, and the journal from earlier. Inside a pocket, he also finds a handful of sovereigns, a couple of galifars, and a peppermint.
This small journal, measuring about 3 inches by 6 inches and 1 inch thick, has a cover of dark brown leather with strands of mithral thread woven in a strange pattern. It bears no title, just the mithral-thread icon on the front cover. Inside, every page is blank, but the sheets have a strange feel; they don’t seem to be paper or leather, but something not readily identifiable.

Archy slides the book over toward his more magically competent cousins. "Whadda ya make've that?" he asks. Certain there's more to the blank book than what's not on the pages. "Judgin' by the cover, it must be interesting." He adds.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yrwin takes each of the cookies in one bite, filling his mouth with one cookie at a time. "Willie, you are the best." Crumbs spray out his mouth, he wipes it off the table with his shirt. Yrwin looks at the book. "Whaz'at you got there cuz?" He swallows the last of his cookies and looks over Archy's shoulder at the seal:

Willie's arcana check gets her thinking! She finds a quill and haphazardly scribbles in the notebook. As she suspected, the ink doesn't hold. It simply dripples off onto Yrwin's already dirty table. A great cook, but a poor housemaker! She's seen this sort of thing before. There is a trick to reading the notebook because it most assuredly has been written in, but without more to go on, she can't quite unlock how to read it.

Yrwin, while everyone is busy doing their things, quickly puts any remaining cookies into his pocket and scoops up the crumbs before throwing them straight into his gullet. After swallowing the cookie crumbs with a big gulp of dandelion tea he walks over to the entrance way with Darnic.
"Now, Willie might have made us food, but this is still my house. Let me open." He slips in front of Darnic and opens the door. "Good evnin', if you're sellin' somethin' I'm afraid i don' have the money to buy it. Otherwise, welcome! We're unfortunately out of cookies, but there might be some dandelion tea left for ya if ya wan'sum!" He says, finishing his sentence no matter what greets him on the other side. He is a Ghallanda kithkin after all, and his home is open to all!

Yrwrin says his Ghallanda Greeting as he opens the door, but with his wide open swing, he feels more cut-off and his 'wan'sum' cracks at the end. No one is on the other side of the door, but he sees a piece of paper flutter down. Those of you with more intuition would hazard a guess that the paper had been wedged between the door and frame. Peeking his head out, Yrwin sees no trace of who left him such a letter.
If you read the letter, it reads in a cursive, common script:
If you would know the truth of Bonal Geldem’s murder, go to the Broken Anvil tavern at dawn.

Archy catches the note and starts to uncrumple it. "Oh good, I like keeping some variety."
He reads the note and pauses a bit awkwardly, and glances at the others. "... Yeah nothing interesting there." He crumples it and tosses it toward the waste bin.
“What? A flyer, at this late? Let me see.”Darnic picks it up out of the waste bin and uncrumples it. He reads over for a moment and squints incredulously at Archy, “Nothing interesting? We just saw a murder go down, and you don’t think that this is slightly related?”

"Unfortunately, you might be right." Archy says, "and when it does, poor Yrwin here's just going to fall to pieces. Maybe we should get ahead of it..."
"Well, I'm just not sure we should be involved in someone else's business," points out Willie, agreeing with her kithcuz. "This is a matter for the city watch. We should report the note."
Yrwin nods through the entirety of Willies statement. "We got no business with murderers and thieves. Willie and I are peaceful by nature and won't get mixed up in murders and other travesties Mr Darnic. Let the police handle it, I can whip up a few drinks or do you prefer ale?" Yrwin enters the kitchen, picks up a couple of square, polished rocks from a cluttered tray and cools them with Prestidigitation. He puts the rocks in a glass and pours some whiskey over them.

"Yrwin, do you have any sweetspirits? Whiskey is a bit strong for me. Is there any blackberry, almond, or hazelnut liqueur?" Willie takes a seat on a comfortable couch, glad that cooler heads are prevailing.

She holds the book and turns it over in her small hands, peering at it curiously.
