Father Pat looks around for a mechanism to open the gates (Investigation roll: 16). "Ahah there it is" (whatever it looks like) he says as he moves over to examine 'it' in more detail.
Pat finds a portcullis and knows it's a two person job to open the gate. It requires two people STR DC12 to turn a wheel in the wheel house beside the gate to open it.

Father Pat calls out to Haldur "hey soldier, can you give me a hand in here to open the portcullis"(see post #1374) for instructions. Father Pat strains to turn the wheel (Strength Check: 13) muttering to himself "haven't had to work this hard in years!"
Folzi glances back at the casters as they near the gate. "Let's get that get that gate open fellows! They'll be on top of us soon enough." Moving back to the gate the rogue checks the gate for any locking mechanism (and begins to pick the lock should there be any, Thieve's Tools 18l
"Get that gate open" Hrain barks at the others, wheeling Vihar about he scans for any sign that Lebenha is getting out of the spell. Calling for a boon from his goddess, Hrain, Lyra and Haldur feel a glow as they each receive a blessing from Sune. "We have to be ready to move, when the gate is open start heading out, we will pray it gives her enough time."
"What's he think we're doing, playing Tiddleywinks!"Father Pay mutters to anybody within earshot. "Typical bloody officer, tells you what to do but wont get down and help you do it!" he continues to mutter. "I'm on it Sir!" he yells to Hrain.

Hearing the Half-Orc call for aid and seeing him wrestle alone with the heavy mechanism that opened the portcullis, Haldur immediately slung his crossbow back over his shoulder and sprinted toward the Shepherd to help him with his task. The mercenary could feel the blood pumping in his ears as the adrenaline surged through his bloodstream, but the chaos of the moment worked to sharpen and hone the young fighter's focus and harden his determination. His long legs carried him across the distance quickly, and soon he had joined Father Pat at the gate's immense release control.
Full movement used to reach Father Patrick at the portcullis mechanism.
Sliding to a halt, the warrior swiftly reached out and grabbed the wheel with both hands and cast the Shepherd a fast side-long glance. "I am Halberd," He spoke quickly, "and thank the Gods that you all made it this far safely. Come, we'll do this together, and finally be free of this nightmare place!" With that, the mercenary will plant his feet firmly and wrench the gate's control with all the muscle in his body. Haldur grunts and clenches his teeth with the strain, his arms and back bulging and shifting beneath his chainmail, but the young man does not yet relent and pushes through the struggle to try and help his new companion with their task.
Athletics Check, to help Father Pat open the portcullis:27
*Edit: Crap, forgot about the disadvantage because of the Poisoned condition. I'll roll a second time down here.
Father Pat goes up to Haldur and says "well done soldier!" As he does so he lays on his hands (spending 5 points from his healing pool) to reduce the impact of the poison coursing through Haldur's veins. He then steps outside the gatehouse and starts motioning people through the now open gate.

OOC: Artemis never joined the group after round 1. He's a good 120ft+ now before the camp of smoldering tents where y'all entered the game.

(Haldur can't move to assist Father Pat outside of the combat initiative rounds correct? Just double checking.)

Seeing (I hope) Folzi pull out his picks from where he is inside the gatehouse Father Pat yells out "it's not locked, it just needs brute force!"

OOC: Yes, it would be an action to move to the gatehouse and interact with the wheel.
Folzi knows it's the wheel keeping it closed not a lock. The mechanism is in the gatehouse beside the gate where Patrick is trying to open it.

If that's something he knew, then he will (look for cover if there's any, Stealth 18, and) ready a crossbow shot should any casters come into range.
Folzi's VERY famailar with the gates. He's stared at them many seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years, and decades.... VERY famailar.
He easily hides getting ALL the sneak.
