OOC: provided these have been his tentmates for sometime and given his status among the gnomes he wouldn't have any problems casting it in front of them.
OOC: figured. Even with status there's only SO many tents available in camp plus it's a rules thing. You've got 4 less gomnes in your tent, there's usually 8 gnomes per tent!
A break down on tent life: you are lucky if you get an older tent with bunks but most all tents are just bedrolls on the ground. Tents are all enchanted by Chauntea's Sisters to resemble a sort of magic hut but on a smaller scale. They are 13x13 ft cubes but take up a pup tent like space. (Bigger on the inside, insert Dr Who music) They are kept at a constant 70 degrees without a visible heat source. Humans and elves are 4 to a tent but the tents have capacity for 8. Each tent in permanently manifested in the space it occupies allowing NO alterations, magic or physical. Gnomes and halflings are 8 to a tent but as many as 12 can fit. Comfortable is not a word I would use to describe them but they are decent and livable. Think a London apartment or a dorm room where you can sit on your bed and cook on your stove for an audience ALL at the same time! You can "live" in them sure but the cramped quarters with other people around constantly makes the frigid outside seem the place to seek peace and hang out but your constantly being watched. Watched by Shepherds and Sisters, even other detainees. Eyes are always on you.
Having finished her meal and now also being done with the rest of her routine, Lyra once again experiences the miserable boredom she has been cycling through ever since she was brought to the camp as detainee. She is not used to the complete unattainability of any useful or at least entertaining occupation. She had also never been fond of being involuntarily stuffed into a room with other people, resulting in her drive to spend most of the time outside of the crowded, warm tent and instead roaming the campside, withstanding the chill air and generally disregarding the obvious surveillance. The feeling of being watched was one of the few things shes grown accustomed to, and she had turned it into a little game herself. Most people felt uncomfortable when spotted watching others, so anyone observing Lyra too closely was a target for a glaring staredown contest. But the people in the camp were not like most people, thus staring back way longer than expected and Lyra was soon bored of the innumerable ties and made it into a habbit to rather seek out interesting appearances. She had spent most of her life in close vicinity of humans, so it was only natural to go northwards and watch the other folks follow their daily routines. Thats what she was doing right now too, slowly walking the campside whilst preserving a respectful distance to everyone nearby, but her eyes always on the move. Lyra decided to go northwest this time, drawing a curve around the sister's temple.
"You there girl," a stout human Sister of Mercy called out to Lyra trying to carry several baskets at one. "Come help me," the older human woman said but her tone and expression brokered no option not to help. "I've watched you ducking around the place and I know your kind," she then said with a smirk as Lyra came closer. "I need more hands than I have to shift this lot and you don't seem too stuck up like the others in your camp to help an old woman make some deliveries," the woman added handing Lyra three of the five baskets. "Come on," she added next walking away from the temple towards the wilderness a place Lyra knew other human Casters avoided.
OOC: Lyra give me a perception check for 'snooping' and we'll see what you notice.
OOC: There is no vegetation what so ever in the camp space accessible to detainees. Inside the temple, there is a large tree in the chapel for Mielikki. There is also a tree inside the Mielikki garrison but that is totally off limits to detainees.
River looks on as Bhalla and Gilly leave the ration area and off together, still curious. Scanning the ration area for any lingering or needing assistance. Once done, she jogs over to her tent, tightens up her braids dons a pretty bead necklace and scoops up her little herb pouch. She half walks/half jogs to the Wilderness. She leans against the east wall watching the activity of the camp.
OOC: The "wilderness" is called that because it's where the human non-Caster classes have settled in camp. It's derogatory, it's like calling a neighbor a ghetto. No trees, no plant life just human barbarians, rangers, rogues, and bards. Think of the camp as a flat, bare patch of icy ground with nothing growing on it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Folzi notices the elf in the ration line that has been here just about as long as he has and flashes her a smile. He gives her a tip of his "hat" and quickly moves on, as it appears something has got his attention. He follows along a few paces behind Sister Bhalla and Gillanna as they make their way into the human camp.
Not one to be a stranger in the camp he doesn't concern himself with trying to remain hidden. He gives a nods to those he recognizes to handle those that take umbrage at his presence. However, when the two women reach their destination he becomes more cautious and looks for a place for where he can hide and listen in on their conversation.
Stealth: 23

If you need another roll as he moves through the camp just let me know.
River gives a quick grin and a nod over to Folzi when he does this. She's seem him many times in the camp, but never actually had the opportunity to say anything to him beyond a quick hello or a wave. Its very nice to have some faces that are familiar to her within the camp.

Lyra had not been adressed by anyone living in the camp every since the first day she came to the camp, her first reaction being to turn around in slight disbelief and lunatically make way for the person the sister was talking to. Since noone was waiting behind her, it eventually began to dawn on her that she fast, in fact, the one asked out to help the sister of mercy. Lyra just shrugged and took up the baskets, half a smile crossing her face in reaction to the unforeseen event. As it became obvious in which direction they were headed, her eyes widend a little and her face began to light up in excitement. She finally got to do something interesting!
River gives a quick grin and a nod over to Folzi when he does this. She's seem him many times in the camp, but never actually had the opportunity to say anything to him beyond a quick hello or a wave. Its very nice to have others of her kind within the camp.
OOC: Are you implying Folzi is the same "kind" as River?
Lebenha walk towards the temple and reaches the only tree they have acces to.
She touches its bark and whispers to it in elvish, as if telling an old friend her secrets. After a few moments she sits and leans her back on it and takes her breakfast.
Folzi you are observed by some if your fellow detainees but they disregard you. Half from indifference and the other half because of recognition of who from the council. The Sisters however do not notice you, they are too keen on thier task to speak to the wizard. They go into a tent and you sneakily wait outside the flap in the front to listen.
Inside you here a brief exchange of complaints as well as insults hurled at the Sisters but they give not rebuke the wizard but try to reason with him. The wizard's cackling comes next before you hear someone pleading for him to stop, the voice sounds like Bhalla's.
"She will rise and you all will pay of this injustice. You've c hoosen your side dwarf, human...she will rise from the ashes," you hear an old wizard's voice bellow then the old familiar sound of conjuring flame before someone screams!
The human wizard's camp around you fills with mummurs as more detainees begin to crowd around you Folzi. They push and shove you away from the mouth of the tent. Then another familiar sound comes next, the sound of a warhorn which you know is Bhalla's. It is immediately followed by heavy armored footsteps as Sheperds appear from nearly every direction descending on the warning.
What do you do?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lyra you know you've felt alone in the camp but you do recall the Sisters have always been kind to you, well most of them. You've noticed that Chauntea's and Mielikki's followers at least seem concerned with everyone regardless of their reasons for being in the camp. Mystra's Sisters however always seem in a rush, distracted by others things while Sune's Sisters can barely be found just wondering the camp.
This woman wears a symbol for Mielikki on closer inspection of her robes and habit, the unicorn amulet seems the finest thing about the women's pale gray robes which tell you she's different from the dwarf woman you've seen giving orders who wears white, green, and gold. This woman, although older and human, seems new to the life of a Sister.
"What are you then," the Sister asks you as you begin to walk to the wilderness. "Caster or..." she explains trualing6off awaiting your answer.
>>>>>>>>>>>
Lebenha takes her breakfast into Mielikki's chapel where the great tree grows and isn't bothered by the Sisters their tending the wild things their allowed to grow for their Goddess. Lebenha recognizes many of the Sisters in the temple as they do her. One even smiles brightly and curiously st the elf. This Sister is very young, human, and seems more curious than about Lebenha's presence than the others. She comes close and stoops nearby making a flower blossom at the base of the great tree while smiling at Lebenha. Before the elf can speak however another other Sister a dark skinned Hill Dwarf hisses her disapproval of the young human Sister showing off! The hill dwarf chiding the human until she leaves the chapel.
"You elves can charm the dimwited and the young easily enough can't you," the dwarf says gruffly coming from a small enchanted waterfall that fish seem to be cascading down endlessly with the water.
Lebenha then hears a tree branch move above her as an owl flutters out landing on the shoulder of the hill dwarf looking at Lebenha curiously with large lamplight eyes.
Sneers and caustic glances were all that greeted the young sellsword as he approached the garrison and inquired after the officer he was to meet. At first Haldur smiled in response; he was able to appreciate some mild self-deprecation after all, no huge concern. The Shepherds showed no signs of acquiescing however, and their demeanor was beginning to rustle the young man's temper. Never the less, he was paid to work with and for these Sunites, and so Haldur took a steady breath, cleared his throat audibly, and addressed the men.
"Greetings fellows, blessings of Sune to you all today." The mercenary smiled as warmly as he could in return to their less than friendly visages, "Quite the game you have going. Impressive wagers. I apologize for bothering you when you are so obviously engaged in pressing duties," The last was spoken with a bit of an icy undertone, "but I am to meet Capt. Hrain of your garrison this morning. If you would be so kind as to allow me to pass and perhaps point me in his direction, I'm sure it would benefit all of us"
As for the Haldur/Halberd thing, when using exposition I just refer to him as Haldur because it's his given name, but as he interacts with other PCs/NPCs he'll be introducing himself as Halberd. It's a nickname that he's just adopted and adapted to.
Lebenha smiles back to the young human and roll her eyes as the dwarf reprends her.
She smiles to the dwarf.
”No charms from my part sister” she raises her hands to show the manacles in her wrists. “ But I can´t control my natural charm... “ She smiles and make a low bow with her head. “Can’t I?” She jiggles and sits again, enjoying the gifts of Mielikki. “ Besides... it’s not my trade... My gifts were a little bit colder... “ she looks at the owl and smile at him “ That’s a nice owl you got there sister. It is another Mielikki gift? The Mistress is generous, isn’t her?”
She looks to the dwarf and jiggles again, leaning against the tree looking at the waterfall.
“Surprised? Yes.. we Casters also believe in the Gods, and Mielikki is one of my favorites. I always loved to live near the Nature, to feel her close... “ she close her eyes...
After some time has passed, River moves from her spot against the East wall and walks back through the camp towards the Temple for your daily worship. Out of habit she will glance around at the detainees within the camp and nod at those she knows and others just looking her way. If she sees nothing of significance, she will enter into the Temple.
Lyra unintentionally feels her smile widen a little more as the Sister adresses her again, she didnt have a real conversation in a while, but she embraces the opportunity, especially if talkin to a Sister of all People. "You guessed it right, yeah. I am one of the unfortune fortunate, one of those who were born with it. I got lucky and had the powers surface without any witnesses." For a brief moment her face shows a feeling of regret, but then it vanishes again, replaced by the initial warm smile. "Can't say i tried to use it your way, i went full rogue from the get-go. I guess i made a lasting impression when they found out, its probably the reason i was sent all the way here." She then turns to the sister with what she hopes to be a respectful tone. "But what about you? I know i'm in no place to talk, im with the new ones after all, but it seems to me like you're having a similar experience. What drove you out here, sister? "
Hrain looks at himself in the mirror hanging in his quarters, a luxury in some people's eyes but as a fervent worshiper of the goddess of natural beauty he believes in the importance of physical appearance a great deal. What he sees back is a tall young man, handsome, if a little too pretty in his own eyes, with lustrous long black hair which is currently tied tightly at the nape of his neck to allow his helmet to sit comfortably. Shining blue eyes and well tanned skin show a man in perfect health, one of the gifts of his blessings from Sune and armoured in his gleaming plate he cuts a dashing figure.
Descending from his room the young captain prepares to leave the tower, as he does so he sees a mercenary, newly joined, but apparently full of promise, speaking to the guards nearby and looking towards the tower. Pausing to give thanks to Sune for sending the very person he had been going to look for to him he begins to walk towards the group, shield slung casually, sword sheathed and an impressive black fur cloak hanging over his shoulder, his winged helmet stowed in the crook of his free arm.
