His strikes connecting with flesh in both a satisfying and sickening thunk, Haldur whipped his poleaxe around in preparation for the next flurry of attacks. The maddened woman relinquished her hold on Hrain and sank to her knees, shrieking in pain and fury as the blood now flowed freely across her body. However, her lamentations were only a momentary facade and quicker than the mercenary could follow, the woman's hands shot up and extended toward his upper body. Immediately he was assailed with a noxious blast of crippling toxin and it caused him to cough and retch uncontrollably, burning his eyes and nose and airways and further causing his entire respiratory system to rebel in protest. Haldur almost fell to his knees himself, the hand gripping the halberd twitching and spasming dangerously, but the young warrior drew deeply from a well of resolve within himself and mustered a defiant front in the face of the onslaught.
Through his blurred vision he could see the Sunite Shepherd double down on his own assault, masterfully manipulating his sword to now bring it's gleaming edge to the fore and attack the shrieking woman with lethal intent. The young captain then extended his hand toward his stricken comrade and Haldur could feel the eldritch warmth flow through his body as the Goddess's blessing issued forth, and though it did naught to alleviate his disorientation or pain, it gave him the courage and wherewithal needed to launch another series of attacks. Though Hrain had obviously decided to end the woman's life by applying the deadly edge of his sword, Haldur chose to hold fast to the initial intention of the Shepherd paladin. If they could somehow, maybe, capture the woman alive... it might give them the chance to find out what this savage and rebellious attack was all about. One last attempt to subdue rather than slaughter... one more series of attacks employing the control and finesse required to subdue rather than slay.

Didn't want to edit my above post to maintain the integrity of the dice rolls, so I'm doing my damage dice rerolls here. One and only reroll for the round, taking the new results as they land.
Great Weapon Fighting combat style reroll of the 1 and 2 damage dice rolls on the first attack.
"And you speaks of beauty? I am amazed at how your Goddess allows you to serve her. " says Leb while he was spitting to the gnome " And I am not talking of your face. That's not the ugliest part of you..."
When they are gone she says to Lyza
"It seems that we are in the dungeons below Sune's temple. Never been here before, neither knew of them. Also it seems that we are doomed and just waiting for them to collect more casters before execute us all. That nasty son of a troll is enjoying every second of it. Never used my magic agaisnt other living beign before, but I am willing to teach that bastard a lesson..."
OOC: Fran it's the bottom of the Sune garrison, not the temple. Y'all are in the fortified tower garrison devoted to housing the Sunites on the NW corner of the camp NOT in the Temple of the Four which is in the middle of the map. In that temple, the largest structure in the camp, it has a chapel devoted to Sune's worship along side the other chapels of the Four attended by the Sisters of Mercy that worship Sune. From F-J; 1-10 but each block is 25ft for scale because if it were just 5 this map would be useless and the camp would be hella small. lol
Haldur the woman falls dead but while you were fighting her your attention was far too trained on her to notice you and Hrian both were being surrounded by at least a dozen Caster's all with the same white eyes as the one you just killed!
Hrian
In your religious studies, you know these Casters are ALL possessed! They are being used like puppets but are not sure by what or who...
The crow is advancing but there is a small window of retreat behind you both going towards the Temple where you see a large group of Shepherds retreating! You then see the Commander. He's standing with his sword and shield in hand pushing back what looks like three human barbarians raging against his shield mastery! Hrain both make eye contact across the camp.
"Retreat," Commander Cross shouts at you his face bloodied and distraught. "They....they are not right! There is something not right...." his voice gets cut off as the barbarians overwhlem him with inhuman like howls.
New initiative roll against nearly 12 appointments or run? remember 6 seconds.

Lyra with no education for your life on the street you can not really measure the cell but its small. It's smaller than your tent is you are sure. The outer area is lit by torches, there are four you can see two flanking the bars of your cell and two across from Folzi but there is no light source inside the cell itself. The light is dim and very hard to see towards the corners of the small room. There is a bucket you're pretty sure you know what it's for and a ragged piece of cloth that looks like at one point it might have been a blanket but you can not be sure until picking it up. There's also straw strewn on the stone floor too as well as rats darting about the cells and in-between them. You notice though moving towards the back wall an odd glittery. It twinkles at you from the darkness of the corner.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Leb shot her insults at Hawthorn the paladin but he doesn't even seem phased. He knows you're not going anywhere and you're starting to get the realization that the cell is very small indeed.
Folzi, Leb, and Lyra please roll perception checks!

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Folzi looks around to check to see what he can from the vantage point of the front of his cell. Overhearing the conversation across, he calls over, "Yeah, this is Sune's. Being the Emperor's diety, I imagine that is why they get a lot of nice shiny stuff up there."
Folzi similar setup to Lyra's roll but you notice there's something odd about the stones themselves that compose the dungeon. Although you were told they make magic inert they give off something else...it's like the closer you are to them the very magic within you is being drawn out by them! Give me a history check with advantage being a learned gnomish archaeologist you designed to be!
Leb tries to focus but can not seem to pull herself together. Whether you are too unnerved from being underground or the small cell closing in around you, you can not seem to perceive anything beyond the dank, dirty, and darkness.

The elf seems to lose some of her composure and hold her knees near her chest, sitting on the floor with the back leaning against the black, cold stone.
“ I just need to be out of here “ she whispers to the dark.
Hrain looks at the wounded fighter by his side and the crowd of casters whose white eyes ring alarm bells in his head, he makes a decision without meaning to, one that goes against everything he had thought right for a holy warrior, such as himself to make. Under his helm he can feel beads of sweat forming and knows that not all are from the exertion of combat.
"Halberd, run, now, to the temple - there is no victory to be had here these people are just vessels and we cannot prevail."
He starts away himself, gesturing as he does in the direction they need to move.
"Come on man, this is not your time to die, let's go."

The hailing horn calls a retreat. They sound from every corner of the battlefield as well as the high stone walls surrounding the camp. The always open portcullis on all four garrisons begins to lower leaving the Temple of the Four the last bastion of the slow and the injured. Terror has consumed the camp. Hrian shouts to Haldur to run to the Temple of the Four about 60 yards away. As he turns himself back to the temple Hrain see a tall human Shepherd, cleric of Mystra, holding a group of Casters from the doors of the Temple of the Four now. The young man looks wounded but he is single-handedly repelling two Casters hurling magic at him as he blocks their entry into the Temple of the Four with what looks to be a simple quarterstaff! He is surrounded by light as if the light of Mystra herself is beaming from his form outside the Temple doors!

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
With a savage pivot and a grunt of force, the butt-end of the mercenary's halberd connected with the fragile temple bone of the woman's skull and crushed through with a sickening sound. She slumped to the ground silent and unmoving, a slow pool of blood expanding from her motionless form. Haldur coughed again violently and clutched at his stomach as the mad sorcerer's toxin pumped through his bloodstream, but as he blinked his eyes to clear his vision he saw the horde of white-eyed Casters bearing down upon his and Hrain's position. A coldness gripped his insides, sending icy tendrils down his spine. He gritted his teeth and flourished his halberd in a defiant display of ferocity, the young warrior's practiced hands whirling the weapon with lethal precision, but it was a hollow gesture that belied the hopelessness of their position.
The Sunite captain's voice broke the tension of the moment, his message outlining the only possible path to survival. The sellsword looked to his comrade and nodded again sharply, "Yes sir. I'll watch your back. Lets go!" With that, Haldur fell in step again with Hrain, shadowing the young paladin's flight to the Temple and keeping an eye open for any of these strangely maddened Casters that might be looking in their direction or moving to intercept their retreat. The sounds of chaos and battle seemed to fill the world around them, but the young warrior kept pushing resolutely for the Temple before him.
(OOC: Well, didn't think I was gonna get that kind of an entrance...)
Focusing on the defense of the Temple, and not yet sure what exactly is going on, Thomas is mostly evading, while using the reach of the quarterstaff to keep aggressors away from the temple doors.
"Please! Stand Down! There is no reason for all this chaos!" he shouts at the casters as they unleash their spells in his direction.

(Your explanation earlier somehow made me less clear on what check applies to examining the glitter, but i will go with investigation first, correct me if im wrong!)
Lyra shuffling towards the mysterious glittering unknown shifts some straw and finds a holy symbol made of some shiny metal. She, however, looks curiously at it because its no symbol shes seen before representing the 4!
