Portia stops her horse only when the wagon stops. She listens to the Elven and wonders what is wrong with a bunch of rock. It's probably the most likely thing a dwarf would be dragging around in a big wagon. Though maybe it can sense something else that is with her party and has nothing to do with the masonry, which Orst definitely did crack a few going faster this day.
In dwarven, "Yeah, not sure what he thinks is dangerous, so stop so he doesn't just shoot for the fun of it." She gives Orst a hard look. "You only have masonry stone correct? Nothing else odd tucked in no matter how small?"
"Oh for the love of- we... are... just... transporting... a... pile... of... ro- oh," realization dawned on the gnome's face. "I think I know what evil he's talking about." Zina reached into her bag and grabbed the book and scroll case, holding them up. "Is this the evil stuff?" the wizard asked, pointing at it with her free hand. "Cause we're taking it to Neiklot to study. We're not like necromancers or evil illusionists or anything. We promise."
"That book will go no further," Zina wrinkled her nose at the response. She was not used to other people being just as obstructionist as she was.
"Wait, do you know what it is?" the wizard asked, ignoring the intent of his message and instead focusing on the subtext. "Can you tell me? I've been studying it for so long, and I just got a breakthrough but I still am nowhere near comprehending it."
Kanon sighs, defeated as the whole group seems to speak up at once. When Zina immediately confesses about the tome, his eyes go wide, "Why would you even..."
He looks back at the elven centaur, "This book belongs to Blackstaff tower and is meant to be returned under lock and key. If you are familiar with them, you know the importance of returning this tome. It will be guarded by the sages there, concealed from all who would use it for evil."
Quietly in dwarven, "Never mind. I'm not surprised about this." She gives Orst a reassuring smile.
She switches to common. "And you want us to do what with it? It seems odd you sensed an evil thing next to an evil wood." She waves towards it.
She looked at Kanon and figured that was the best thing to do with it. Though if Zina could take it out, what would stop anyone else winding up with it? Even a bigger wonder someone didn't say something in Beregost if it radiated that much.
"Master Orst," Kanon says in dwarven as he gets off the wagon, "This is not your issue. And I apologize for it hindering your journey, but I cannot allow this tome to be given to a stranger from the forest." Kanon stands aside the wagon and says, "I would suggest you continue while we deal with this." As he says 'we' he looks over to Zina.
Standing in the road he stares down the centaur elf. "No," he says in elven, "This tome is not meant for you."
Kanon walks to the Centaur (move 30), hands up in surrender. "I do not wish to fight you," he says in elven. "If there is a peaceful resolution to this - perhaps talking with those that have sent you on this hunt, I would prefer that. But this book has a destination, and that destination is not South."
Zina had no idea what Kanon was saying, which was not a feeling she particularly liked. She followed close behind him, closing the distance between herself and the elf-a-taur. Well, trying to. Her short gnome legs left her a ways behind Kanon. She readied a Ray of Frost spell on her fingers, the palm of her hand growing numb with the cold. As soon as anyone attacked, she would be ready to hit him.
The creature speaks a few words and eerie, swirling lights surround Zina and Canon, coating them in a light glow as if they were covered in pixie dust.

"Oh, you did not just faerie fire me!" Zina roared, letting the Ray of Frost blast from the palm of her hand. (18 to hit, 2 damage. His speed is reduced by 10 ft.)
Pettilaen was just starting to fall back asleep when he felt the cart come to a sudden stop. Getting up, he was confused to see the offspring of an elf and an elk, standing in between them and where they needed to go, complaining about some "evil" they had. Moving close to Zina, he says, in Gnommish, "I mean, I know there names sound alike. But really?" The situation dawns on him as tensions begin to rise amongst the group and the creature, as it demanded to take the book Zina had spent so much time studying. Seeing the creature cast the spell, Pettilaen rushed in, trying to close the gap as quick as possible with his rapier. Gaia flew in, close behind him.
Bullden just shakes his head and can't believe were going to fight over book. Talk about someone mom or girl friend sure but shedding blood of bound paper just aint right. But from my point of view the elf-a-taur started it by making Kanon and Z glow first. Though not sure if it is really an attack unless your allergic to glowing. Oh well gotta go protect my crew.
((Rolls 15 for initiative))
Bullden gets ready to move into melee with the elf-a-taur.
Portia is annoyed by this demanding creature of no explanation. Even if she think Zina should have never wound up with said book, it actually tied in with something Kanon had. As far as she could fathom was that somehow Kanon got something from Malark to take to Neiklot, which actually had the same symbols as Zina's book. Nope, due to that alone and no matter how Zina really got the book, this strange elven stag was NOT getting it.
To help her friends out she beseeches Lathander for his blessing. She is still on her horse and only moves to be sure she is 30 feet behind Kanon and Zina. They both acquire the blessing and then she pauses a moment and decides to put the last one on Pettilaen as he tried to get closer as well.
((The three that are blessed can add 1d4 to all attack and saving throws for 1 minute))

"Traako," Kanon curses in Elven as he turns around and sees everyone closing in. He puts his hands out to the others and in common says, "Stop this! There's no reason to fight!" Everything was happening too quickly. Kanon's pulse quickened as he realized they actually intended to kill this fey creature.
Zina ran forward, casting one of her favorite spells right at the fey. Dazzling colors surrounded the elf-a-taur, then dissipated with no effect. "Farvin hell," the suddenly very small gnome cursed before running backwards five feet.
The creature is focused solely on Zina. He gallops her direction, takes his blessed quarterstaff in both hands and... completely misjudges her height, swinging it clean over her head.
