Hearing the sounds of battle, Pettilaen gives up his charade of looking for the child in the other rooms/avoiding the dogs. Rushing in he receives word from Zina that they're blinded. Capitalizing on this opportunity, Pettilaen rushes in with the advantage, stabbing one of the dogs in a critical location, bleeding it out until it falls unconscious. "Take that, you nasty buggers!" Satisfied, he scans the room, without success, having hoped to find justification for assaulting the guard dogs.
At the sounds of people, Zina began to curse in gnomish. One hand extended toward a dog, she cast ray of frost at the one farthest from everyone. ((OOC: 13 to hit, 2 damage.))
"We better think of som'in fast folks, looks like we'll be getting company."
The staff and cooler heads in the bar, aided by the distraction of life entertainment and a bit of passive intimidation on the part of the newly arrived rangers, managed to quell the rabble-rousing before it turned into a true brawl. Once they finished calming everyone down, and kicking those out who would not be calmed, the sounds of conflict from the cellars became obvious. Gert flashes a nervous look at Ishkar before offering a silver coin apiece to a handful of the most sober locals to investigate the disturbance.

Ishkar moves over to Gert and says, "That won't be necessary, I will inspect for free" trying to pass off the crowd that he is not part of the cause of the events downstairs, but instead wishes to relay information. (Deception of 5). The people now pick up that Ishkar is involved in the noise downstairs and he gets a weird look from the three rangers as he announces this.
Ishkar moves across the bar and through the crowd to address Gert. He's barely reached her when the elven rangers stand and draw swords. They exchange a few indistinct words with one another, then start pushing (not violently, but forcefully) through the crowd toward the bar.

Ishkar then casts Thaumaturgy to create a loud noise of an explosion behind the rangers and farther into the tavern and then moves to rush away in the instant the rangers look and moves away towards the stairs. (OOC: what rolls do I need to make?)
The rangers (Insight 20) duck briefly, exchange a few words, inspect the area behind them, and, seeing no damage, continue toward the bar with a quickened pace.
The rest of the tavern is affected far more by the sound, and some of the lads who were preparing to head boldly down the stairs now cower behind the bar. The rest, including Gert, and dazed and frightened, hunkering down trying to figure out what happened and if it's going to happen again.
Ishkar now runs to the stairs, and will continue down stairs despite who follow him, preparing Tasha's Hideous Laughter to cast on the front ranger who follows him.
Portia swings to subdue another of the remaining dogs and almost cringes feeling like she could have killed it easily. ((Attack of 12+4 =16 and damage of 1d8+4 =12)) The dog flops to the ground looking rather pitiful but still breathing.
She jolts as a loud boom is heard from upstairs. She prays to Lathander that it is just some distraction and not a real mess knowing Ishkar is probably trying to save his hide from something up there. She can't do much about that right now and sees that two dogs are still conscious though one looks annoyed due to Zina's ray of frost. There had to be something down here worth noting for all this ruckus. If not, more than Malark would be dressing her down after marching her back to the temple.

The dogs regain their sight just as Portia delivers her second strike. Seeing the state of their pack, they recoil slightly, but quickly come to the conclusion that they are backed into a corner and have nowhere to go.
They lunge at Portia, but are apparently still disoriented, because she fends off their attacks easily.

Pettilaen lunges at the last uninjured guard dog, afraid to accidentally kill the injured one. His rapier connected with the innocent animal, and he hit is mark, bleeding out the guard dog and causing it to pass out. As his rapier landed the critical blow, he heard an explosion and footsteps coming down the stairs. Perplexed, he looked outside the room, to see Ishkar running towards them, looking behind. "I pray to whatever gods that you are the source of that explosion..."
Searching about frantically (Investigate 18), Pettilean sees what he believes to be a human in the bottom of a crate made for shipping a large dog. Additionally, he notices a heraldric stamp on most of the crates - a slotted helm and sword over the image of a sunburst. The symbol looks like it would belong to a noble house of Elturgard, probably a house known for its martial prowess.
About the same time, the first of the elves appears at the top of the stairs.
"Lay down your weapons," he shouts in an authoritative voice. "You are under arrest on order of the Flaming Fist!"

Ishkar yells out to them, not casting T'sHL since they found the kid. "Won't you want to see this child we just saved from slavery? I don't care if we had to take out a few dogs to do so, but this kid was what made us do this." Ishkar drops his bow and unclips his belt of daggers, No time to get the Flaming Fist on our ass, I think one of my friends is also part of the order. Now Ishkar looks at his group but proceeds to prepare Charm Person instead in case anything goes wrong.
As Ishkar buzzes past him, knocking an arrow and slaying the last guard dog, he catches wind of the elves on their way, and they do not look happy. Frantic, he begins searching the room with Portia, as the remaining party try to stall the elves to buy him and Portia some time. I can't clash with the Flaming Fist again... I barely got away last time. Seeing the noble house symbol both intrigued and disturbed him. Why would someone of such prestige and nobility result to such barbaric and inhuman acts? Continuing to search, it would seem that Tymora was on his side, for he found signs of this child in one of the larger crates. Shouting out loud enough for anyone downstairs to hear, he exclaims, "Portia! I found the kid, and he doesn't look well! Help me get this crate open and prepare a healing spell for the poor thing!"
Bullden lowers his weapon and flashes his Flaming Fist insignia and says, "Yer in luck cuz a member of tha Flamin' Fist be already here and saved tha day. We got word of child bein' held captive in this room possibly by Pirate slaver. So really ye shou' be thankin' us for savin' this child."
((Using insight I want to know if they are telling the truth and if I recognize any of them (NAT 20 on check) since I am part of the same mercenary guild.))
