When Persie walks in Amaruve knocks over the table, gawking as he comes to his feet. He scoots over and stands up the now overturned chairs, awkwardly making room for her.
The goblin is just finishing his spiel as Perspicacious enters. He squawks as Amaruve upends the table, then quickly composes himself as Perpsicacious settles in. "A pleasure, my dear, a pleasure," he says with a bow from his chair. "My name is Wanthony Overwine. Your friend and I were just engaging in a little wager." He waves a server nearer, "Can I get you anything to drink? I do hope we're about to have quite the show."
Meanwhile, as the conversations going on, the lights dim, as a female voice takes the loud speaker. “Now, for your entertainment for the evening, the Tony family presents... The Steam City Players!” Silence falls over the crowd as an orchestra begins playing. It is a light, operatic tune that is soon joined by a masked singer. Over the course of the song, it seems to tell the story of the founding of Laputa. For Fiorello, Tony, and the rest of the natives, it is a well known opera by the title of “Ride of the Summerfolk.” The diplays are grand as acrobatics are mixed with beautiful melodies. It is not till the middle of the chorus that the more observant members notice something. At the moment, the lead spins his prop shield into the air. Once, twice, and on the third time, it clicks as Tony emerges from the lounge-knuckled shield dressed in full, almost Vox-like, attire! He struts alongside the lead for a brief time before concluding his time on the stage as the shield drops on top of him once more. The shield is tossed out into the crowd and after a few moments, Tony emerges from it in his finest pinstripe suit, “Now that is an entrance, not to pat my own back or anything.”

"Thank you, Wanthony, you are too kind. A drink would be lovely. Something light and refreshing. Surprise me,"says Perspicacious, sliding into the seat offered, and winking at Amaruve as she quickly scans the rest of the room. "You mentioned a wager? Anything I can get some action with? I've seen your carnival games, but was hoping to find something a little more sophisticated for tonight's entertainment." Reaching under her petticoats to a small bag buckled to her thigh, Perspicacious takes care to show just enough leg to get attention, but not so much as to be indecent. She removes a small pouch from the bag, and places it on the table with a light clinking noise.

There is an outpouring of cheers from the crowd. Lil' Big is clearly the favored son of this family, and now he's a bonified hero to boot. As the laughter and applause begin to die down, they are replaced by handshakes and smiles in Tony's direction. Just then, a tall, snake-faced, and pencil thin woman appears at Lil' Big's side. It's Vermalk, consigliere to the Big Tony and sole Yuan-ti pureblood on the floating island of Nibiru.
"Your father would have a word, little one..." she hisses, voice as devoid of emotion as ever. She gestures to a darkened corner of the room, where an oak door with a brass handle stands slightly ajar.
Tony hides a grimace and a chill, old “Yzma” over there is as charming as ever... However he nods his head solemnly, “Gotcha. Should be a fun time. Don’t wait up, you know how chatty Pops can be. Heh...” Tony sighs, then walks to the door.

Wanthony grins hugely once again. "You, my dear, may call me Wanton, with all the clever implications entirely intended." He turns back to wave the servers toward the mess Amaruve made, but it's an unnecessary gesture; they're already cleaning up the dishes and replacing them with fresh food and drink. "I think I have just the thing to keep us occupied, my dear," he says. "But first, I need to watch my nephew there eat your bear friend under the table."
Wanton cups his hands around his mouth and calls to Thaunie (pronounced "Tony" if you missed it).
This round it's an entire roast chicken! Roll CON, Amaruve (guidance allowed; but you must describe what the hell guidance looks like in an eating contest)
You step into a room that looks... Well, you know what it looks like, Tony: It's your lounge. Except for the absence of the yawning black Void beyond the furniture, your father's study is identical in every way to the lounge your punch-out knuckle creates.
Seated behind a heavy desk is the mound of muscle and silk that is Big Tony. His ruddy skin darkens a shade as you walk into the room, the knuckles in his steepled hands creaking audibly with tension. He sits behind his desk glaring at you with glowing yellow eyes. You've seen him mad before, but this... Well, this is a top-fiver, for sure.
... "But first, I need to watch my nephew there eat your bear friend under the table." ...
Amaruve checks under the table for another nephew from the one he was expecting.
As the chicken arrives his mouth waters and his nerves settle immediately. He contains himself for just a moment bowing his head and taking in a deep calming breathe with his eyes clothes.
Then he does not delay (Con: (1)16) before the servers escape, he plucks a second bird from the platter.
Big Tony silently reaches to a bowl of (fantasy) walnuts. You know what's coming- this is an old favorite of his. Taking three of the nuts in his huge paw, he slowly squeezes his fist, crushing the shells to pieces.
"So, you are back," he rumbles in his deeply accented speech. He pops one of the walnuts into his mouth. "Five days. Five days you are gone, with not one word to tell me where you are or what you are doing. Five days your mother is weeping and I must console her."
You very much doubt that your mother wept while you are away. The idea that your father consoled her is LAUGHABLE. He stands from his desk and continues, "Business left unattended. I must ask Vermalk to see to your affairs. I am certain you fall off of island." *This is a Nibiru idiom- the idea being that you are either too drunk or too stupid to stay clear of the island's edge.
Vermalk moves into your field of vision, just by the bookcase in the corner of the room. The obvious command hangs in the air: "Explain yourself"
Thaunie looks dejected. He puts down a chicken leg and shuffles out to the dance floor. Wanton claps his hand. "Just fabulous. Did you eat the bones, as well? Kidding, kidding, of course... Well, I suppose that's 1000 gold I owe you..." He extends the bag in your direction. "Although," he says with a musing tone, withdrawing the bag, "It occurs to me that you and your friends might want to take part in a more... interesting wager. It just so happens that I host a card game some nights. It also happens that the winner of this game is occasionally rewarded with a unique magical item. I had planned to host a game after the soiree this evening."
Wanton grins his wolfish grin. "Finally, it happens to be a 1000 gold buy-in. For you, my bear, I would be willing to let your friends join the fun on the cost of your ticket alone." He turns to Perspicacious. "Would that be sufficiently sophisticated for your tastes?"

Perspicacious laughs, and brings a gloved hand up to her horns to play with the Tear of Avarice hanging hanging from them. Looking directly into Wanton's eyes, she speaks softly with a slight growl in the undertone. "You know how to reach a Tiefling's heart, dangling magic items in front of her like that. But just one? It's a special night, and a cause for celebration. Surely you have more than just one item to put on the table. What do you say we make it VERY interesting." As she says this, she removes her own coin purse from the table, all while maintaining eye contact with the goblin.
(Ahhh... Unfortunately, while Wanton is playing nice, he isn't warm enough to you for the Tear to take effect. As the first roll was a 14, that's not quite enough to get the job done.)
Wanton's smile slips and he puts a hand to his heart in mock dismay, "My dear lady, you wound me. Are you implying that an old goblin would keep a hoard of magical treasures stolen from the old world in the final days before its destruction? Guarded perhaps by a series of traps, ogres, and enchantments and buried deep within the heart of Nibiru? That is a stereotype, and I for one won't validate it with a response."
He purses his lips. "You seem like a good person for a non-gobbo, though... Tell you what, I'll make sure my boys don't get away with any cheating while you play."

"Fair enough. You would have thought less of me for not at least inquiring. I am a business woman after all. So... what's the game?"
Big Tony slams a fist into the desk knuckles first before you can finish your last sentence. He isn't looking at you, but you can see a feverish, manic light in his eyes- looks like pops left the lights on before checking out again... "Laputa?" He says, his voice dangerously quiet. "Did you find any faerie gold there? Did you and this friend of Tonya bring back a singing sword that cuts dreams?" He lifts his fist, revealing four new knuckle-shapes dents in the wood. "You walk back into the house I have built. You come here without your sister, the SECOND sibling you have lost that you have sworn to protect, and you spin me a tale of giants and magical castles."
He finally looks at you, and the palpable force of his moxie threatens to knock you back a step. "Tell me: why do I not ask Vermalk to throw you off of this island?"
Tony squints incredulously at the Hobgoblin, “I’m sorry, have you stepped outside today? Have you seen what’s happening? Fifteen years I’ve worked by butt off to make sure you know I’m loyal!
