Gordra extinguishes the light and leans in close to Cordelia. "Ms. Luna, this is not a dream, this is not a hallucination. This seems like something from one of your Dr. Whom teleplays you've told me about. What is your device telling you?"
Cordelia, seemingly very relaxed despite the situation, replies calmly to Jean, "Something like that. It would appear we are in a cage match, perhaps..." Her voice rasps and rumbles as it becomes mismatched with her true self. The voice is deep and masculine. Cordelia doesn't seem to notice this change.
The assistant reaches for Dusty, hoping to gleam something from it. As she does, she looks at everyone in the party. Seeing these overlapping forms made her head hurt. Instead, she tried to focus on the forms they seemed to inhabit now.
"Dr. Who." Cordelia corrects the dear professor. "And it would appear, professor, that we are in another plane of existence." Cordelia reads Dusty. (If she still has it.) "Vasht mentioned leaping. I would assume we have leapt through a dimensional rift? Allow me to confirm."

Amaruve stands upright, and listens to the the world outside the barrel. He walks awkwardly on two legs to peer out of the slot, his other worldly shadow mimicking his exaggerated movement. His connection to Gaia is still strong here. The smell of excitement fills the air. Maybe something more... (Percep w/ Guidance: (4)22)

(Actually, Amaruve appears to be fully and solely present inside the barrel. Whereas your companions all seem to have taken on other forms, you are purely yourself at the moment. A bear alone)
Outside the window, Amaruve, you see a large, dusty stadium filled with noisy spectators. With a 17, I can tell you that everyone in attendance appears to be human, and there is definitely a gladiator-y feel to this arena. You see two other barrels on the ground, spaced evenly apart, with your barrel forming the third point of an equilateral triangle roughly 50ft to a side.
Cordelia, you are still unable to decipher the meaning of most of the new symbols on the screen of the stardust. With a 14, however, you recognize one symbol that indicates an active rift, such as you would see when a discovered world is being currently accessed by the Tower. You also see that same reading you noticed earlier:
Gordra looks over Cordelia's shoulder to view the Stardust display. "Hmm.. I'm not sure what to make of all this." He'll bang his portly human fist on the wall of the barrel and yell "Excuse me, good sir? We'd like to be let out of here please."
You hear the gruff man guffaw on the other side of the rear-facing door. "Yeh thing yer pretty clever now yeh got some wins unner yer belt, eh?"
Just then, another voice rings loudly through the stadium, but the words are swallowed by the sudden roar of the crowd.
"We'll see how clever y'are against that lot today!" You distinctly here the other voice loudly announcing, "10... 9... 8..."
"Oh, an' one udder thing: How're you clever folks a'plannin' tah get that fuzzy monster outta tha barrel?" He laughs again, loudly this time.
"3... 2... 1... FIGHT!" The sound of the swelling crowd is deafening.
You do manage to hear a click just as the door to the barrel swings open. (The doorway is large enough for each human to get out one at a time, but Amaruve- it looks pretty tight, buddy)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Amaruve looks at the opening, he could certainly squeeze through... But instead...
Amaruve feels his strength has grown. With his last attempt to Shift his form was under his control however briefly, and in that moment the pieces came together in his mind he could take new shapes... He'd seen samples and specimens from a fantastic variety of creatures from the museums, experiments, and portals within the tower. It was time. Something smaller, but a powerful, he'd need to be an apex predator. He seeks Gaia and decides.
Amaruve gives Jean a friendly nudge, she seemed capable. They would protect the others together. He looks her in the eye. He would follow her lead. He wondered if being faced by a Black Bear standing much too close was discomforting. Then he grinned, a horrid wicked grin.
Not a grin, the shape of his face was shifting. The hair retracts revealing a scaly reptilian hide beneath, as dark earthy feathers sprout around his joints and head. The size of a man, he stands on two legs. An ancient creature with wicked claws. He takes the form of a Deinonychus. (Akin to a Velociraptor)

(Let me know if I'm taking too much freedom there. Just wanted a CR 1 small or medium beast. But I did like my only option there.)
Adjusting to the weird sensation of inhabiting another body, Perspicacious keeps quite, waiting on what happens, and listening intently as the others talk about teleplays and planes of existence. She is not unfamiliar with the concept, but this is not what she had in mind when she went to see Gordra about the board meeting. Around this time, she feels the weight in her pocket, and reaches down to retrieve it and see what it is. She hardly has time to examine it as the announcer returns and the countdown starts. As soon as the door opens, Perspicacious pushes her way to the outside of the barrel. "I demand to speak to whoever is in charge here!"she shouts.
Perspicacious, thanks to the illumination from Gordra's staff in the barrel there was not a huge difference in ambient light when you stepped out into the sunlit arena. (Mechanically, you all avoided a round of disadvantage due to sun dazzling- Great thinking, Gordra!)
You burst so quickly out of the barrel that you are the first on the field. A large, red-skinned hobgoblin is slowly climbing out of the barrel ahead and to the left, and a pack of human bandits is beginning to pour out of the barrel to your right (each is cartoonishly dressed like a full-on pirate). Your cry is swallowed up by the roar of the stadium- no one heard you.
(If the other combatants on the field were PCs, they would be rolling d20s right now. In fact...)
Hobgoblin: 9 Bandits: 4
Incidentally, the object you removed from your pocket is the coin you have carried since before you arrived at the tower. It has occasionally felt warmer than it should, but this is the first time you have noticed it react quite so forcefully.
(I'm dying. Okay, just to clarify: you can only cast spells when in bear shape, okay?)
I'm still dying. I'm going to speak for Jean just a little and assume that she's hesitant but onboard. Jean and a freaking dinosaur pelt out of the barrel just behind Perspicacious.
Anyone planning to Roll Initiativeshould do so now!
(One final note: Instead of feathers, Amaruve, you have long silky black fur. Your facial features are also a little... ursine.)
(Update: Amaruve, you have inspiration for this leap (I expected you to just bust out of the barrel). You can use it to gain advantage on any attack, check, or save one time. You can spend it after your roll)
The Professor sees all the people emerging from other barrels and makes a guess at whats coming. He stays in the barrel for the time being. To Cordelia he says, "I don't like the looks of any of this Ms. Luna. Perhaps we should just stay in here where it's safe. It's been decades since I participated in a bout of fisticuffs. Perhaps we can figure some of this out while we're waiting for the dust to settle."
Jean caught Amaruve's look and nodded. The more esoteric parts of their situation were beyond her, she only had a very basic understanding of the Planes, the city of Sigil and such, but one thing she did understand was the role of protector and officer of the law. "Alright, let's do this."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hearing the roar of the crowd, seeing the hobgoblins and bandits, Perspicacious puts the coin back in her pocket, and reaches for where here rapier and dagger should be as she calls out behind her. "Jean... Jean! I think we may have use of your sword after all..."
