Tony, though strained, looks up toward the Tiefling, “Oh, I’d be happy to tell you all about it. Perhaps we can discuss my heroics over dinner when we get back to the city?”
Insight: 23
(Insight: Perspicacious seems genuinely interested in learning about the Oar. The flattery may have been a little over the top, and a tad less than sincere, but was not in jest.)
Perspicacious doesn't flinch, looking Tony up and down. A brief pause as a half smile flickers across her face. She leans back suddenly and addresses the group. "Did you hear that everyone? Tony just offered to tell us all about his mysterious adventures, and to treat us to a fine dinner for the occasion. I was so hoping to learn what cuisine this place had to offer beyond fair food. Should we go now, or do we have time to shop for some more... formal wear?"
Tony returns the smirk, “That’s right, as payment for doing me and my family the deepest of favors, I will personally treat you all to the finest restaurant in the City. Give me a couple of hours to set everything up, which should give you all ample time to dress to the nines. I’m sure your taste is impeccable, bella.” Tony throws in a little Goblin at the end with a bob of his eyebrows.

Tony, you assume that Tonya is still somewhere inside the plane that is Porphyrion's mind. You haven't talked to her yet, but given that the giant continues to float nearby peacefully, you assume that she will contact you when the time is right. Taesn did a quick fly-by of the planebreaker at first light and discovered that the children have made a sort of camp in the palm of the giant's hand. They're all fine (excluding Tonya, who isn't with them), but you need a plan to get them back to the Festival of Steam and their families. Taesn explains that the skippers just aren't big enough to hold them all.
Narimel and her father are growing restless, and the air genasi who accompanied them is nowhere to be found, Amaruve. You get the sense that the antlered sky elves are ready for you all to remove yourselves from their ancestral home. Now might be a good time to touch base with them.
There's also the half-orc boy who Tony... winged... earlier. He's fine, but he's staying as far from the goblin as possible.
Burgee stays apart from the main group, as well. He sits crosslegged and with eyes closed, listening to the wind.
Amaruve adjusts his tie and lumbers over to the sky elves, as he moves to his human (SSJ5) form. "Now... Seek peace." He says. Watching Porphyrion on the 'horizon' ahead.
He carries the staff, now weighted differently than before, and wonders how the people of the Steam Festival will react if the Planebreaker carries their children to them. He could imagine either a scene of chaos or a chance for the people to move forward. "You'll come?" He asks, gesturing back toward the Festival..
Fiorello stands, amazed eyes blinking. "Most peculiar," he says to no one in particular as his head moves from side to side, up and down, taking the whole scene in. "What we've all just witnessed, what happened here..." he pauses for a moment to gather his thoughts "and now the world sparkles as if nothing at all has occurred. Peculiar." As he strolls a few steps he continues to take it in as he grooms himself a bit, "but quite stunning."
Glancing over at the others he takes pleasure as some jest with one another. And he looks up into the crystal clear sky. "This place is quite breath taking. If you all don't mind, I may take a small stroll through the air, perhaps see if I can spot a library, or a nice quiet spot where I can meditate for a few moments." And he wanders out into the open and pushes himself up into the sky to soar for a bit as he seeks a small corner to recharge and pray. (Perception: 13 as he looks for a library)
(Everyone else is encouraged to take simultaneous actions! Fiorello is using this quick break for a solo mish, which suits me just fine. Would anyone like to accompany Fiorello and Taesn on their library quest?)
As you pass through the ancient stone archway that frames then entrance to the library, your eyes take in a comb-like wall of hexagonal shelves. There are no books here; all of the writings are kept in rolled scrolls of what feels like vellum, or maybe (if this is even possible) some kind of densely-woven silk. Using comprehend languages, you are able to determine that the scrolls are largely historical. There are sections of shelves that appear to be dedicated to science, medicine, and architecture, too. But the library isn't enormous. You would estimate perhaps 2,000 scrolls here in total.
There is one wall that catches your eye. Across its stone surface there is a deeply-etched engraving, slashed with rough cuts and clearly not part of the original design of this place. There is no other artwork in this structure, but this would be striking anywhere. It's almost crude compared to the natural beauty of the rest of Laputa. A trio of those yellow fox squirrels sleep in a pile on one side of the engraving, which depicts in four scenes a monster that you immediately recognize as Porphyrion. The first square reveals Porphyrion's passing through an enormous Gate into the plane of air. In the second, titled the Rage of the Beast, Porphyrion attempts to destroy the Castle Laputa. In the third, he is bound by a circle of sky elves within the Solarium. In the fourth, the castle floats in mid-air once again at peace, but the sky elves are gone.
Taesn grunts as she inspects the scene. "That monster made one a heckuva mess when he broke through into this plane. I wonder what he's sticking around here for now that he's free again?"
Fiorello examines the engraving and especially the striped yellow creatures that adorn it, amazed that it depicts scenes that only recently unfurled. (History20 if needed.) Then he peruses the walls of scrolls. The quiet relaxes him and he's able to find a corner of the room where he can settle down in prayer, concentrating on the will of Aerdrie and Remnis and opening his mind to their service.

You immediately realize that it's not the events of the last day engraved here, but the day of Porphyrion's arrival to this plane roughly 100 years ago.
With your 20, it occurs to you that there is no record of Porphyrion being DIRECTED to the plane of air after the Breaking War... Rather, this mural would suggest that he traveled here by his own means...
With his mind opened in thought and prayer the images of the engraving play through Fiorello's mind when it hits him. He jumps up looking for Taesn. "We have to go!" He points over to the engraving. "That... that, creature. He did not arrive here the way we did! There is some other path. Another way out."

While Fiorello is checking out books, Perspicacious examines the Oar with Amaruve, trying to jog some memory of what the Archmage told her in her strange vision."He called it an Instrument of Order..." she mutters, partly to herself, but loud enough for others to hear. "But he didn't say anything about activating it."
Investigation: 14
She also shows it to Burgee. Perhaps he knows something that he learned while under the control of Sagacious. "Say, Burgee, I'm glad you made it out alive. Sagacious always was a jerk, but this sort of puts him over the top,"says Perspicacious as she brings the oar to the kenku. "You wouldn't happen to know what to do with the Oar now, would you? Anything Sagacious may have said? You used it, or part of it, at some point, yes? I'm sort of thinking it will take us back home, our real home, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Anything you could tell us may be helpful."
Taesn seems almost amused by Fiorello's urgency. Why should she care about jumping between planes? She saunters outside behind the owlakocra as he takes flight. In fact, she doesn't even bother opening Ariel's cockpit to fly back; she just hangs onto the exterior of her bubble, one foot on the barrel of the gatling gun (totally Captain Morganing it).

After a moment, Burgee finally opens his eyes and gives you a grim look. He taps his throat, then his head. He lets loose a squawk and says in your voice, "Sagacious. Burgee... Know What to do. Not... tell..."
It would appear that the kenku's power of speech has been reduced to its typical state with Sagacious' death. For all the tiefling had taken, he had gifted Burgee that much, at least.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Amaruve follows Perspicacious' examination of the staff and the tendril pattern.
He compared it to the wispy tendrils of smoke and fire rising from their camp. He uses the end of the staff to stir the flames...
He compared it to the willowy branches of a nearby tree sagging against the earth. He uses the end of the staff to draw the pattern in the soil...
He compares it to the watery haze of the fallen elemental still hanging in the air. He uses the end of the staff to reach out to the spirit... (Survival: (2)19)
For a moment, the dark brown wood lights with those blue traceries. You think that you've cracked it, and the Oar's purpose will be revealed...
Then the lights go out. There is a sudden hole in the air, identical to the portals that Tony's lounge knuckle creates. Out of the hole pops a small, wispy, blue water spirit!
It bubbles happily in greeting to Tony, then whirls around Amaruve before settling into the brim of his fancy hat. Wild Gastly is caught! You have a new familiar, brother bear!
(You just say, "Oh gee, too much time has passed and you are no longer in the Wild Hunt and you lose concentration on Guidance while concentrating on the staff, and you have disadvantage for some reason, so you're actual total is... 21." (Just to save time, I'm going to assume that you all share the following information:
Tony: The goblin had two significant events during the Laputian Dogfight (whatever, we'll call it that). One was a vision of his sister (which you all generally know about). He met her in the Void (that black space you traveled through when you were sucked into the water elemental way back when). Tony's second event was being transported by the Oar as he attempted to divebomb the tiefling in the Solarium towards the end of the battle. He was immediately transported to another world. One with tropical islands and an endless ocean. He used his lounge knuckle to escape, which apparently has some connection with Porphyrion. Inside the lounge, he met Vox and the water spirit, who helped him to take the Oar from Sagacious by sacrificing... something.
Perspicacious: Perspicacious experienced the most significant vision when you all first arrived in the castle (this was, what, back in November 2018 IRL?) Jean and Amaruve: Your individual experiences were personal. You elected not to share them.

Amaruve sits and rumbles in that wild language somewhere between beast and men. "Ó, tá tú anseo. Bhí mé in ann a bhraitheann tú ann. Cara Fáilte. Is iad seo mo chompanaigh." He gestures toward the party. "Ba mhaith liom an oiread sin a labhairt leat. Is féidir liom an oiread sin a fhoghlaim..." He goes on.
"Oh, you are here. I was able to feel you there. Welcome friend. These are my companions. I'd like to talk so much to you. I can learn so much..."
(Insight: Perspicacious seems genuinely interested in learning about the Oar. The flattery may have been a little over the top, and a tad less than sincere, but was not in jest.)
