Did anyone talk with the DM already? I saw they had some action yesterday, but no post here...
I'm actually starting to get worried, there's already a lot of things that could be discussed, as for example Karino's question about the horses, and yet...
Oh goodness, I'm here. Sorry for the wait. I normally try to give a heads-up, but it was a heck of a weekend. Sorry about that. Reading through the responses I missed. Hang tight.
ooc: I would like to purchase food and a couple of full wine skins for the road, also like to see if i can acquire a map of the area we are travelling towards.
Four days worth of rations is 20 SP, two wine skins is 6 SP, and a map of the Southern area beyond the Anvil is 10 SP.
Seems like everyone has what they need. More to come in a moment.
Thadrith, Seva gasps and shakes her head. “You’re right. I’m sorry I forgot. I actually don’t know the schedule he keeps. He’s a private person with his own comings and goings. I know that he sets scheduled patrols and varies them at different times. We’ll have to take note of those ourselves if we get to that point.”
At this point, if you have any else to buy, we can say you did so retroactively.
You begin your journey south to Deepacre. Seva has provided each of you with a horse for the trip. The first day proves to be peaceful and cheery. Each of you are able to catch up the years and stories that have passed. Even Seva smiles a few times. That evening, you share more over the cook-fire as the sun retreats from the moon.
During your conversations, you find out more about Seva. It’s clear she was high-born. The stories she tells betray her gilded upbringing and speak to her easy childhood. She stays guarded for the most part. But there are slips and you can piece together that she is not happy with her mother and father.
The next day is met with storm clouds. Rain follows as you press forward. Plains change to brush and then forest. Further down the road, through the trees and rain, you see a wagon pulled off the road. As you trot closer, a man leaps down from the driver seat of the wagon. He pats one of his two horses as he walks past them up the road toward you.
“‘Hoy!” the man calls when he’s close enough. You all reign in with Seva a few yards from him. He stands in the middle of the road with a hand up. He wears a dirty white shirt under a worn leather vest. His black oily hair is unkempt and his beard is wild. His britches and boots seem too small for his average height. “Well met travelers,” he says with a wry smile. “I’m Renfeld Davenport.”
What do you all do?
(Sorry again for the late reply. Thanks for sticking with it.)
Signalling a stop to those behind, keeping his distance Rill answers "Well met, we are on the road to Deepacre we cannot stop for long, any news of the road ahead, are you in need of help ? be quick friend" The horse, still not comfortable having a dragonborn riding it shifted nervously under his massive weight. Taking his eyes from Davenport he scans the surroundings looking to the trees and the wagon.

Tristan
"I've told too many stories that start this way, they either end really well or really badly" He murmurs to no one in particular. He takes a look around to see if "Renfeld" has any friends around. looking at his surroundings and the wagon. To Renfeld He'll smile and say "Where are you from friend?"
Perception 16
OOC, lol maybe we are all old friends, seeing as how we all seem to have the exact same idea about this.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OoC: First, DM, don't worry about the delay, we were just scared, at least me and Rashek who talked in private with me, that you wouldn't even come back, so really, just hearing from you is good in my opinion.)
Elery doesn't care about looking for the wagon, she focus her attention on the man speaking. "Hi, are you looking for something? We're in the middle of a mission, so unless you need help yourself, the group is actually pretty interested in continuing."
She kinda notices the suspicious looks on the party, and resolves to add. "And please, be honest. They really don't seem interested in being delaid by trivialities, and it would be really kind of you to colaborate."
(As Elery, I won't be rolling a lot of Insight and Perception checks, for RP purposes, but beware of her passive 14 on those two, they might detect things only her and Thene could notice.)
Rill, you’re not seeing to much out of the ordinary. The surrounding forest seems quiet. This Renfeld fellow seems to be alone.
Lazarus, Seva seems happy to let you all take the lead. She keeps quiet.
Lazarus and Myra, you know Renfeld is lying about something right away. You can't tell what.
Myra and Tristan, you both pick out right away the six bandits hiding in the trees. They’re doing a pretty good job of it. But, you know what to look for and happen to catch them from just the right angle. They’re not moving, but they do surround your group.
Renfeld nods and takes a bow. “I understand and won’t waste your time. I can tell you’re on an important errand. I only wanted to warn you.” He points of the road in the direction you’re headed. “There’s an orc raiding part down the road. They’ve camped along the road to the east. At the fork, take the western path. You’ll have to ford the river where the road meets it as there is no bridge. My son and I were attacked by them. Do you have any food or drink to spare?”
Lazarus: (to Renfeld) "I find it hard to believe that one man and his son survived an orc raiding party all by yourselves, and the orcs would give up the hunt. Speaking of which, where is your son?"
Lazarus tries to put a hand on one of his hand axes without renfeld noticing (thats sleight of hand right?)
Sleight of Hand:19
[let me know if there is no roll for it or if its a different roll.]
Myra eyed the bandits, and then very carefully cast Message individually to her companions. 'Don't trust him, we are surrounded. There are six bandits that I can see'.
Tristan takes note of the bandits, thinking there might be more of them hidden away he can't see. Can he see what they are armed with? And he's looking for a place where the greatest number of them are clustered together.
"Orcs you say? thanks for the warning, been a while since I've run afoul of them. Most people seem to think they are the most dangerous thing you'll find on the road, when it's been my experience that sometimes it's the targets that look easily taken"
OOC I'm looking to see a place I could put a sleep spell that would hit as many as the bandits as possible.

Thadrith
Thadrith listens to Myra's message and takes note of the bandits.
"Yes, I would like to know where your son is, too,"Thadrith tells Renfeld. "I'd also like to know how exactly you were able to get away from the orcs. Even I wouldn't be able to do that, and I'm amazing. You MUST tell us your ways!"
Persuasion check:19
(OOC: Let me know if this should be a different kind of roll. I'm just guessing)
Hearing Myra's message, it affects Elery a bit, and she tries to hold tight and keep an appearance as if nothing was wrong.
Deception11 (I know I didn't need to roll it, but it makes sense for me at least. Seeing the general aspect of the personality I tried for her.)
Taking a deep breath, Elery regains her calm appearance, somewhat, she's visibly scared, but not enough as to ruin her speak."Orcs? That's scary, I'm glad you're well, though, thank you for the warning. I think we could all manage to make a small donation to this poor man, right?" While talking, Elery seems to be looking around for the bandits Myra was talking about, it might help deciding on what their course of action should be next if she knows where they are.

Rill
Myras message rang in his ears, he gripped the long sword at his waist with one hand and scanned the bushes again frantically, he could not sit idly while his clan were on the edge of danger here. "Let me make this clear" the dragon born announced above the others his voice now a deep menacing growl as he talks to the would be assailant. "We know you have men about this road, your clothes are not your own, and your story is questionable, an orc attack indeed, we will certainly not be taking your detour to find you with a dagger at our throats" He slowly draws the longsword from his hip raising his voice now for all to hear "Now ill give you one chance to pack up and leave this area, otherwise you and yours will be met with lightening and steel, and i can assure you my friend you will wish for an Orc attack by the time this is over"

Seva will provide you the horses.

Lazarus buys a healing potion (minus 50 gold?) and then goes to the meeting spot, ready to go.
Lazarus: (to those are at the meeting spot) "is everyone here and ready to go?"
