Elery gets startled by Rill's outburst, and feeling even a bit ashamed that she tried the fake naive and weak approach to the situation in the first place, she walks to the back, completely giving up on talking with the man, focusing more on the risk of a fight breaking off between the two sides.
She nudges on Lazarus and whispers. "Uhm, I think it's time we prepare ourselves, I don't think those bandits will take lightly on us after that."
Lazarus: (to Elery [in a whisper]) "I was hoping to stall for time so everyone would be ready, but i guess the cats out of the bag now."
Lazarus puts one hand on his greatsword, doesn't bother trying to hide it. He also gets ready to jump off his horse at the first sign of aggression from renfeld or any bandits of his.

DMing "Gallia Campaign 1".
Looking for a new game, if you need a player private message me.
Lazarus, no one in the area knows you actually have a hand on your axe. You could have it up for an attack in a split second. But, then you're hand goes to your greatsword. You're not seeing any aggressive move, yet. But you have a sharp eye out for it.
Tristan, you're having a hard time placing how they are armed, you don't fully see them. But you can tell the greatest number are on the west (left) side of the road. Four are there. Two on the other side.
Renfeld stands for a long moment. It's clear the intimidation gives him pause, but then he makes his decision. "Oh, now wait," he says, holding up a hand. He gives you a smile. "There's no reason this needs to escalate. I assure you, I mean no harm. I am simply trying to make a living for my son. Who IS real, he's just not here right now. There has to be a way we can work something out. I'm a business man, after all. Is there anything of value you're willing to trade as toll for access to the road behind me? AND! There are Orcs. I'll give you a free tip," he gives you a nod, Thadrith. "The best way to get away from orcs is to not engage them in the first place."
Rill, he’s not telling the whole truth. But there are Orcs for sure.
Renfeld, shakes his head. “I’m will to talk. But I’m not willing to simply give away our advantage. There doesn’t need to be any bloodshed here. Merely give us something valuable and we’ll let you leave. Simple as that. It doesn’t have to be much.” He folds his arms across his chest.
Thadrith sighs at Rill's sudden outburst. They could have easily gotten info and lied their way through this man, but now he's going to be on his guard. She clears her throat.
"Well, we could give you something now, but it won't be much," Thadrith states. "However, we're about to come across some great treasures. If you let us through for free, perhaps we can come back and split some with you? It'll be worth much more than what we have on us now."
He looks at Renfeld and smiles. "We could give you the most valuable gift of all, you're lives. "Now personally I'm not one to leave a bunch of ruffians to prey on the weak and innocent so I wouldn't mind putting you and your friends in the dirt. But a FEW of my friends frown on that and don't consider it the good deed I do. SO I would suggest you back off."
Intimidation 15
I guess it could be deception if you decide on that, they both have the same modifier.
Renfeld laughs. "Goodness. I like what this fellow is saying," he points to you, Thadrith. "But this fellow, not so much. You're scaring me a bit, there. Which is it? Are you going to be able to control your friend, here?"
Tristan, you definitely intimidated him. Now, he's trying to weasel out of the situation.
"Perhaps my friends will see fit to let you live. Personally I don't like the idea of leaving you at our backs, but I'm not known as the most level headed of people, so I'll defer to them."
Tristan will still keep an eye on the grouping of the people in the woods, if they look like their going to move he's going to cast sleep on the group of 4 of them.
Seva shakes her head. She keeps the conversation within earshot of you all and not Renfeld. "No. We can't wait. But I also don't want to escalate this if we can avoid it. Time is limited, but I still have to return to my people."
Elery is quietly sitting in the back, trying not to interact too much. But seeing Renfeld trying to leave, she tempts an intimidation attempt at him, by casting Fire Bolt on a patch of grass that wasn't wet, and that was close enough to them.
Perception8 (Seeing as it's raining, according to a message sent a few posts back, I thought it would be clever to roll for perception to see if Elery could find the dry patch of grass she was looking for.)
Lazarus: (to everyone) "okay, everyone listen up. lets put this to a vote, we gotta settle this now. we either 1. we kill him and his bandit friends. I'm not a fan of this option but if the majority agrees to it i will follow. 2. we shackle up this renfeld and take him with us until we can deliver him to a proper authority." Lazarus pulls out some manacles from his backpack. "because i certainly don't want to leave him here to pray on any traveler. this is the option i prefer. or 3. we just walk past him, i don't think this coward or his cowardly friends will mess with us, they were hoping to ambush weak travelers, not a group of heavily armed adventurers. Everyone pick a number and which ever of the three is said the most we'll do, assuming no one has a problem or has a 4th option."
Lazarus: (to any bandits that might be hiding around) "If any of your friends, Renfeld, try to interfere with any of these options, you and your friends will be eating my sword."
"I believe I've made my vote clear, but as our cli- er friend doesn't want trouble, I can stand by without trouble.: He stops and grins wickedly at renfeld. "Of course i will need assurances that you'll stick to the straight and narrow, perhaps if you and your friends gave up their weapons."
"I would be uncomfortable leaving this man here to attack a family later, but our new obligation is to the current task at hand I vote we leave"
Rill circles his horse around and comes in closer to Thadrith keeping his voice low "apologise for the outburst" he looks her in the face now his golden eyes locking to hers "I thought to intimidate him, scare him away, it's hard to control my nature sometimes, I mean only to protect us as a cla.. I mean group"
Wheeling back around he gives a nod, not wanting to antagonize the situation further the dragon born remains beside Thadriths horse sheathing his sword he awaits the group's decision.
Thadrith nods at Rill's apology. "It's understandable. We all have different ways of treating certain situations."She turns to the rest of the group. "I agree with Rill. We should just leave. We don't have time to deal with this man, and even if we did, he's not exactly our problem. I'm not too keen on becoming the person who captures every 'bad guy'. We have better things to do." She points at Tristan. "I do like the idea of making them give up their weapons, though. Just to make sure they don't attack us from behind."
Elery tries to ensure that Renfeld is not hearing them. "Well, I think I agree with what Rill said too, you can ask Seva right there on how bad and evil Lord Blackwood is. Renfeld steals things from people, the Lord slaves, kills, and tortures people with no regards for other's lives."
Lazarus: (to everyone) "alright, i believe we are in agreement. we'll be taking your weapons Renfeld, so you won't be preying on any other innocents. After we have your weapons, we'll let you and your friends go."
Lazarus gets off his horse, and then draws his rapier.
Lazarus gestures with one hand, and holds the rapier in the other
Lazarus: (to Renfeld) "give me your weapons, all of them."
"I'd suggest that you listen to my friend here, Renfeld," she said leaning forward on her horse, a confident smile on her face. "Its really in everyones best interest here."
Elery gets startled by Rill's outburst, and feeling even a bit ashamed that she tried the fake naive and weak approach to the situation in the first place, she walks to the back, completely giving up on talking with the man, focusing more on the risk of a fight breaking off between the two sides.
