“Something is wrong with the sky!”
Some people are complaining “Where did the sun go?” Others point to the sky, directly at the only sun they can see, while those who can’t see it nor its light are denying their claims. Suddenly, those who cannot see the sun look to the north-east, where they see another sun rising.
People from both groups start pointing to the skies again, towards orbs of light falling to the ground. One lands outside of a major city, and strange beasts begin to march on it, killing many guards before they are taken down.
That night, which some swear is day (these people are those who see the new sun), another catastrophe strikes – this time, the moon seems to be shattering.
Two dragons appear at the capital, Krydionta, to talk with the leader and scholars found there. They tell the king troubling news, which is kept secret from the populace to avoid even more mass panic.
In Arkmunster, a small village, several people have been gathered to take care of a more immediate problem – there is a kobold lair only two days from town, and the kobolds have been even bolder since the cataclysm that changed the skies, stealing livestock more frequently and now even taking women and children.
The mayor stands before the 6 people he has gathered. Mayor Gulan is a human in his late 70s, much beloved by the townsfolk, and has been in office for an entire decade. “Now, you lot may not know each other, but I know that you are good warriors and we have a problem only warriors can fix. Kobolds have become a rather persistant pest since the cataclysm last week. From what we can tell, the kobolds are holed up some two days south of Arkmunster. If you could either exterminate them all or at least get them to stop stealing our people and animals, I would greatly appreciate it, as would all the citizens. It would also be good for you to take back the people they’ve taken, and the livestock if they haven’t already slaughtered them. There are 7 people missing, and they’d taken 18 cows in the last week. You will be rewarded for your efforts, regardless of how much livestock you can save.”

Nearest Neighbor: Dragontail (3 days North-west), Whaelrdrake (3½ days East) Population: 352 (Mixed) Arkmunster is a village of mixed races. One of the most racially diverse places in the country in fact. It is a gathering place for many cultures and, placed between two towns, Dragontail and Whaelrdrake, it often sees traders walking through its gates with strange and exotic goods. A quiet, low key bar, the Gilded Star is one of the only taverns in town, along with the Leaping Spirit, a raucous dive, and the Howling Dwarf, a gathering place for the Deep Ghosts, a secret society and spy network.
"Hey", Dastrun grunts at the old man, "Where is the best place to find info in this town". The entire time he is saying this he glares at the old mayor while folding his arms.
Shashidiswara, though those in the room know him as Soolaire, takes a small step forward, distinguishing himself from the rest with the gesture. "We have met but on the briefest on occasions, myself being a new resident to your city. Please, call me Soolaire, for my real name can be a tongue twister for those not well-versed in Ishkahri. I, myself, am a proud member of the Ishkahru, and we are well known for our abilities to track. While your description of their lair should allow me to guide us from the city, a more in depth description would prove invaluable and help us secure your village members."
He takes a small step back, in line with the rest of the party members, and looks to each of them, trying to gauge who they are and what their professions might be (Insight roll of 16).
Mayor Gulan is unfazed by the attempt to intimidate him, but sees no reason not to tell the minotaur the answer to his question.
"Well one of the taverns is the best place to find information, of course. Though I'd prefer it if you left to save the townspeople as soon as possible."
Turning to Soolaire, he continues speaking.
"As far as I know it is a warren built into the side of a cliff, facing away from the town. Beyond that, we know nothing. Our scouts cannot get any closer without being found and captured."
Soolaire gets an idea of the sort of fighting style his allies use, figuring out what weapons they prefer (including magic as a weapon) and how they tend to use them. He also gets a vague idea of what they did in the past (now knows each character's background, unless a player wants to roll deception against that insight roll).
Dastrun heaves a heavy sigh, "Fine, let's be on our way then", before leaving he observes the room that they are in, particularly the door way. He really didn't want to chip another horn, he begins to rub his right horn where the tip seems to be missing.
John taking note of the posture of the Minotaur he thinks that with that one to show weakness is to invite trouble and with Soolaire step foward and step back move he figures that pride is a big part of his peoples ways, so with that in mind he turns to the Mayor and say: Sir Gulan, we will inquire the three taverns in town as hastily as possible to gather all information we can, specially what villagers were attacked first, from where live stock was taken and how many per incursion of the Kobold were stolen to take an educated guess as to how many of the vermin infest your towns outskirts.
My companions and I won't take more then a couple hours to acquire this information and last minutes supplies and will be on our way.
Lets not tarry much, I suggest we start with Gilded Stars, then to Leaping Spirits and finish at the Howling Dwarf for that could warrant some trouble for what I gathered in the small time I've been here.
With that he salutes the Mayor, and moves to start leaving the area, showing to his companions that it is time to go.
All taverns tell the same story - Villagers on the south border of the village were taken and taken from, and that no one knows how many kobolds come in each raid, though they certainly don't infect the village's outskirts. Various raids have been performed in the forest to the south, and never has a kobold been found there. Only ever kobold tracks leading to their warren far beyond the outskirts of town. The village guards do know that the warren is several levels deep though, and that there are usually at least 6 pairs of kobold prints whenever they raid, though usually much more.

Dastrun looks down at his grandfathers horn, he brings it to his mouth kissing it and asking for guidance. He then turns and ducks below the doorway, following his new allies out of the room.
During the gathering of information in the taverns and specially with the guards John tries to see if some of them are hiding information or know more then what they are letting us know, for no Kobold has been seen, all scouts only find tracks of 6 kobolds or more but again no kobold is seen. That is suspicious because 6+ kobolds raiding farmlands, taking lifestock and villagers are hard to get by unseen and no kobold is left guarding their den. With all that in mind John rolls Insight1d20+3=4
Dastrun walks up to the guard the human priest was taking to. He stood to his full height, towering over the human. He looked at the human with slight glare, staying there for about 30 seconds. He then closes his eyes, goes down on one knee, and says "Please, tell me all you know of the isles Mithas and Kothas, if you don't know anything, please show me someone who knows. I beg of you." He finishes with bowing his head a little more, slightly unnerving the guard as his horns are now pointed directly are him.
Soolaire silently watches the group as they go from tavern to tavern. This world really is so much larger than the Dragonscorch... I've never even seen the cow-man before, but he seems aggressive and unruly. Some pacification might be needed to bring into harmony with myself. Gideon seemed to be the most reasonable out of them all. He had an aura of calm about him, something that Soolaire found soothing. Though John's obvious divine-inspired character was worthy of praise. Perhaps he worships the Father-Dragon of the Sun too? Soolaire looks up at the sky, confused. To him, he saw only one sun: the same sun that has radiated warmth and light on him since he was born. News of that sun disappearing and being replaced by another were... troubling, to say the least. What could be powerful enough to overpower the Father-Dragon and grant light to those now-misguided children?
And what force could possibly call the other sun-dragons to rain down from the sky? And why would they bring destruction and death through their spawn? Perhaps there is much that I still do not know.
The guard has a look of confusion on his face. It is blatantly clear that he has never heard of these places before.
"I'm afraid I can't help you at all there Sir. I ain't heard of either place, nor have I heard any mention it. Perhaps if you was to go to a town or city, someone there might know of where you speak."
