Chance's cantrip, simply didn't ring. He tried his hand again and the hexed spider manages to resist the cantrip. Hopefully the third casting will be the charm.
The spider's sudden appearance, and at a distance, confuses him. It would seem these creatures possess some sort of intellect, recognizing our maneuver. Soolaire charges the creature, nimbly avoiding the dead phase spider. "Face me and my fangs, demon!" Not even the spider's attempts to dodge his attacks could work, as it would seem the Father-Dragon granted him his blessing of striking unerringly. His Sunfang ripped into the spider's thorax, just as it did earlier. He grinned at his success and the Father-Dragon's blessing. "I wonder which part of you I'll take as my trophy."
OOC: Attack on PS1 at disadvantage (20/19)+7 for a total of 26, 6 psychic damage total. Soolaire's movement put him 4 spaces west of his current position
Valen tried not to let his surprise show when the Phase Spiders reappeared behind them, but he couldn't help losing his focus on his Booming Blade spell. He set his sights on the third spider, regaining his grasp on the arcane energy that surrounded his blade. "You need to stay where I can see you," he muttered at his target, his blade sinking once more into a spider's left flank. "It helps with aiming." A barely visible net of energy surrounded the spider, ready to explode should it move.
As the spider reappeared, Dastrun quickly set his sight on the closest one, and moved to end the annoying thing. With his great axe he aimed to take of another leg, he missed, his axe whistling by the spiders leg. Spitting out a curse he quickly aimed to shove the creature with his horns to buy him some time, but the nimble spider simply evaded to his side. He grunts in anger, feeling rage well up within him.
Seeing his comrades attacking the newly appeared spider, Gideon charged at the beast with inhuman like speed! Not waiting for an opening, Gideon Jumped up and over the spider hoping to land on it, but at the last moment the spider moving cause one of Gideon's legs to give out. With no purchase for his footing Gideon fell, but the Kensai was ready. Moving with the fall, Gideon turned his body horizontally and cut it deep into the spiders side! Landing on the ground blood and gore pouring from it new opening, Gideon quickly looked to his friends, cocked a knowing smile, then looked at the last of the doomed spiders.

Frustrated that the spider had again vanished from his sight, Valen bent down and picked up a rock at his feet. Muttering the incantation for the Catapult spell, he glanced around, preparing to let loose the magic that would fuel the propulsion of his chosen projectile.
Soolaire, watching the final spider disappear once again, shakes his head. "If it was smart, it would stay clear of us. Chances are, it's both a coward and stupid. I would say to get in formation, but this one will die as soon as it reappears." Soolaire surveys his surroundings as his sunfangs recede. He pulls out his longbow and knocks an arrow, waiting for his prey to reappear so he might claim his prize.
OOC: He's staying in his position and readying an attack action with his bow for when the spider reappears and does its action.
Dastrun sees Sol beside him pull out a bow and knock an arrow. Forcing down the rage, he realizes there are more important things at hand. He continues to stand by Sol, but not close enough to by burned by his flames. He hefts his great axe, waiting for a challenger.
Seeing that his group is again spread out John moves to stend between Gideon, Soolaire and Dastrun as to go to any of them if needed, notches another bolt in his crossbow (ready action: as soon as the spider reaper I will shoot it) and says: lets not lower our guard, the spider might be trying to separate us to take one at a time. Form around me!
Chance mutters "That cursed creature has a hex upon it, we should remain focused and alert it should reappear soon". Chance moves 10 feet north, feeling confident that the spider is simply not as observant as it would normally be, due to the hex. He readies his cantrip Toll the Dead and waits patiently alert to any focusing of the natural conjuration energies which he now associates with those spiders materialising.
Seeing that the creature reappeared John was ready for it and fires his crossbow at it hitting it with precision (1d20+5 = 18 / 1d8+3 = 5). Moving to his right (north) and forward (west) as to not have any companions in his line of shot, Jhon tries to shoot again but this time he misses the creature. Let's not let it leave again! Focus your fire my friends!
Expecting the last phase spider to appear by him, Soolaire was able to nimbly dodge the spider's attack. "You're all too predictable, demon." Shooting with his longbow was another matter, however. His arrow missed the mark, going between the spider's legs. Frustrated, he dropped the bow, channeling his psychic power to manifest as his trusted sunfangs, and lashed out at the spider, leaving a deep gash across several of its legs. Soolaire had the creature defeated, even if it didn't know it yet.
OOC: Bow attack missed on disadvantage (9 total), dropped bow as a free action, manifested soulknives as bonus action, attack hit on a 22 and dealt 5 psychic damage.
Dastrun saw the spider appear near Sol, he quickly moves to the spider, bringing his great axe back, he swing's for it's many legs. The spider reared onto it's back legs, and Dastrun headbutts it away from his allies.
As soon as the Phase Spider reappeared, Valen let loose his Catapult spell. Unfortunately for him, the spider managed to dodge it, the rock flying several more feet before falling to the ground. Cursing under his breath, Valen cast Magic Missile, giving it a little more energy than usual. "Dodge this, you eight-legged bastard!" Four darts of magic energy sprung forth from his hands, targeting the Phase Spider. No matter how it moved, it couldn't dodge the bolts of force. Their impact caved in the skull of the spider, killing it instantly. A smile spread across Valen's face as he walked towards his companions, ending his Bladesong. "That wasn't too hard, now, was it?" He proceeded to trip over the rock he hurled with Catapult shortly afterwards.
After the last spider was killed, Dastrun walked over to the spider he did manage to hit. He ripped one of the fangs off, and then stomped on the head of it for good measure. He stowed the fang? mandable? whatever it was into his pack, he then turned to his team. Waiting for Sol to lead them to the keep with his tracking skills. Seeing Sol standing there without touching the spiders, he walks over and asks "Sol, why don't you partake in getting a trophy".
After dusting himself off from his fall, Valen turned to see Dastrun removing a mandable from the Phase Spider he killed. I suppose a trophy wouldn't hurt, he thought to himself as he returned. Drawing his dagger, Valen cut the other mandable cleanly, wiped his blade on the grass, and pocketed his new trophy. He straightened himself up, and, hearing Dastrun's question, went to join the pair. "I must admit my curiosity as well, my friend. You helped slay the beasts, so you have the right to claim part of them as proof of your victory."
Out of the corner of his eye, Soolaire sees Dastrun approaching him. Debating whether to acknowledge his presence, he sighs. The beast fought well, and even -protected- you, for some reason. That deserves honor and respect. Hearing Dastrun's question, he turns to face Dastrun, slightly relieved to see Valen having joined him. Trying to keep his eye movement equal between the two, he calmly states, "It is customary among the Ishahru to partake of that which you have slain. I, however, did not land the killing blow, and did not earn any trophies from these fiendish-demons. That is why I do not partake. But please, do not allow myself to stop you from claiming what is yours." He walks a few paces north, clear of the battle sight, and marks where the kobold tracks continue.I'm glad -these- prints weren't ruined by the ambush.
Turning away from the party, he begins removing his studded leather armor, piece by piece. Several minutes pass by in silence for him, as he focuses himself and digests the battle. Dastrun, while primitive in his tactics, has shown loyalty, and strength. Perhaps he is not as reckless as I had first gathered. Valen is admirable: his magic propels him to heights in power few can reach. Gideon is like a great sandstorm. Calm, filled with peace in the center, and a raging storm against his enemies. He has found the warrior's balance. John is stalwart, and trusting: a curious trait. Nevertheless, he seeks to aid those around him, and for that respect is due. Chance... a peculiar man. Such magic I am unaccustomed to. I will have to observe him more to gauge his worth and measure. While they are not Ishahru, our tactics can be harmonious, and we can work as one unit... with some practice.
Once finished, Soolaire has removed the top portion of his armor, leaving his torso and arms bare. Glowing veins, akin to lava, contrast his ashen skin. Like channels of lava pouring from a volcano down its sides, the flames descend from his head, running down his neck, past him spine, and disappearing underneath his pants. You notice that the veins also seep from his eyes, running down his cheeks to his chin, before curving inward and flowing down his neck, accentuating his well-defined torso as the streams disappear into his lower apparel. His hands, now exposed with his gauntlets removed, reveal a similar pattern, but tracings of flame start from his fingertips, running along the backs of his hands and up his forearms before "cooling off" and disappearing at his biceps. He closes his pure-white eyes, taking several deep breaths, as his veins flare up in brighter shades of fire. With his "ritual" complete, he turns back towards the party. "I am ready when the rest of you are to continue our journey for those lost."
OOC: Soolaire removed his armor and spent two psionic points to grant himself inertial armor, giving him an AC of 14+DEX, and resistance to force damage for 8 hours.
