This is going to be my first attempt at running a PBP game. Really wanted to play in a PBP first before I attempted this, but seem to get passed over in every thread I try joining. This world is something I started working on, thinking about a year and a half ago when I started getting back into DnD. DnD Beyond has been a great help in fueling a new passion for DnD, for my first introduction to DnD was back in high school Junoir and Senior years 2004-2005. Besides that, I have been rping on various sites and chat rooms for just a bit longer since 2001 Freshmen year. I have played in this world just briefly last spring with my brother and niece via skype, but scheduling got too complicated. So my intentions are to flesh this world out a little more, so the ideas in my head aren't so abstract and more concrete. Sorry for the rambling introduction, just wanted to have idea where I am coming from.
The continent of Avamoore, once plagued by war and infighting, now celebrating a millennium of peace, prosperity and new age of enlightenment after the scourge of the dragons that threatened the land was wiped out only after all the warring factions joined forces. But peace or the illusion of peace is fragile at best, and nothing proved that when the cult of Brehema, assassinated the 8 leaders that made up the seat of government in an attempt to get the nations warring again to resurrect the demon of war Brehema on the 1000th anniversary of victory over the dragons and the formation of the Avamoore dominion. Brehema was brought down by brave champions and restored the fragile peace once more But that was 10 years ago, your story has yet to be written.
Avamoore Dominion: Center province, where the seat government sits. This is considered neutral territory. This has the highest mixture of races. If two or more leaders from a province has a problem, they come here, where a neutral aberator will help them settle the dispute. If there is a law that needs to be past that affects the entire continent all 8 leaders must come to vote and pass it.
Zander: The south eastern province, the population is about 65% Tiefling. It is fairly liberal, very tolerate, cause Tieflings tendget harassed for their devil heritage. They are ruled by a monarchy.
Glendale: The eastern province. 80% Elves. Enlightenment and Politics, two things you don't hear very often mixing together, but the Elves of Glendale make it work. Home of the more prestige collages in Avamoore, and even the smallest disagreement can result in a 2 or more hour debate. They have a president they elect every 40 years.
Tachunka: The north eastern province, with a population of 75% Orcs. Proud industrious people. They tend to live in huge cities with huge skyscrapers and huge factories. There are some though that think Orcs have gotten to soft living in this type of lifestyle, and ought to return to the nomadic pillaging marauders their forefathers were. They have Prime Ministers they elect every 12 years.
Nadaca: The northern province 70% human. Mixed bag, people in the cities are more tolerate of people who are non human than those who come from more rural villages. They are ran by a theocracy .
Glover Hollow: The North West province, 85% Halfling. Finding an equal balance of work and leisure. People of Glover Hollow usually chill with other people as long as they mean no harm. They have a Czar
Dracfene: The Western province 100% Dragonborn. Many suspicions of the dragonborn during and after war with the dragons, the dragonborn built huge walls around their territory and hardly allow outsiders into their province. They claim to be a democracy, but only one family has been on the ballot for centuries and title of Supreme Leader is carried from heir to heir.
Iron Side: The South Westernprovince, 90% dwarves. Named after the mountain which boarders their neighbors of Digith. Ironside Mountain provides most of the iron for the continent. They are monarchy
Digith: The Southern province 80% Gnomes. Boarders the other side of Iron Side Mountain, they have president elected 10 years.
The story will be a living, evolving world, based on your choices. I am looking for between 4-6 players for this world.
Race: Any from official source material on DnD Beyond. You don't need to choose from 1 of the 8 listed above There is a continent to the North and South of Avamoore, which are out of the Dominion's rule. The north is often called The Wilds, The Lawless Territories or Savage Lands. The south is connected by Iron Side Mountain Range, and called the Rezza Region where either must trek the mountains, or travel by ship, air or water to get from one continent to another.
Classes: You can be any official class, except Gunslinger. I don't like the rules for it, but I will allow firearms to an extent. If a really good argument for Gunslinger can be made, I'm willing to negotiate. One thing to consider, if going for a magic based class. The continental law is, if you are going to be using magic and are arrested for a crime, you will be asked for a license. You don't need one, its just having one result in a fairer trail rather if you didn't have one.
Religion: If you want one, you can create your own. I have a couple of gods made for couple of npcs hoping to be able to sprinkle into the game at some point, but not going to hold certain ones.
So standard application process. Will be starting at level 1. Stat can be Point buy, Standard array, Roll, not to worried.
Slag was purchased sight unseen by a dwarven clan looking for a Warforged Envoy specialized in smithing to help manufacture weapons for their fight against some nearby goblins. What they received was Slag. Slag is a surplus military Warforged that was badly damaged and barley functioning. With the help of the Dwarven clerics of the forge, they were able to repair him the best they could. Slag now appears to have a blast furnace built into his stomach and two smoke stacks that run up his back that always seem to be spewing wisps of black magical smoke that do not smell and quickly dissipate after a couple seconds. Slag was sent to the dwarves either by mistake or in an attempt to rip them off since a damaged juggernaut is far from the shiny new envoy they requested.... Either way, the dwarves put his incredible strength and endurance to good use not only making weapons, but using them to great success against his enemies. Once he was given his own free will, he decided to leave his dwarven family with his newly honed smithing skills in the hopes of finding other damaged or destroyed warforged and repairing them and rebuilding their numbers so that they can start their own clan much like the dwarves he had grown to call family.
Backstory: Prospero was born in Glover Hollow in small wooded village but left a young age to travel across Avamoore. He mostly sticks to the areas outside of the larger cities in Nadaca. He spends his time running grifts and scams on local travelers. When he travels in to the city he goes disguised as a well-to-do noble to eavesdrop on the more highbrow members of society and using the information he learns in his schemes.
Backstory: Fall, for The Gorgal Breath, for The Gorgal Retch, for The Gorgal Live, for the Gorgal The pride song in the deepest Underdark pit of Koz. A small, yet manageable "town" filled to the brim of the best godless creatures have to offer. Humans are often times born with twisted, mutated appendages due to the toxic atmosphere, drows would come in all directions to steal the best looking infants and off their parents without a second thought, beasts of nightmarish size and shape roam about like stray cats and dogs. And what do the civilians do? How do they mend to this, seemingly, unbearable life. Why, they sing of Gorgal. Gorgal, a terrifying demon, who's monstrous strength was only matched by its intellect, descended upon the people of Koz as a god would. The people sought no sanctuary nor a better life, as this was their life. But Gorgal was not one to give up. It had shown the humans the future. The future of which the monsters would become their pets, the drows their slaves, and their lives their own. Seeing no reason to deny now, the humans of Koz agreed. And they flourished. Gorgal shared but inches of his power and intellect in return of their eternal loyalty, and their fortitude did the rest. It was incredible. The men grew stronger, the women more undeniable, and the children played. Oh, did they play. They would eat their friends, drink their blood and parade the streets dancing in ickier and acid. Of once their was no law, now their was one. Gorgal. Their bodies. Their minds. Their skills. Their magic. It was their to use on whoever, be them neighbor or enemy. It was the law. How they lived from then on. Boo, a child of five, grew up in this world with his sisters: Kik, Ma, Bee, Mo and Ag. They did things to each other that would seem unquestioningly unholy on the surface. Nonetheless, they loved each other. And once every thirty moons,The Gorgal would send a representative of the Koz to the surface, to teach those who wished to learn his ways. Boo, once he reached the proper age of 20, was chosen, much to the dismay of his sisters. He did not ponder their concerns, nor their anger, and set off tot he surface world, brimming with joy.
Backstory: Flint grew up in Iron Side where he learned to work the mountain and create beauty from the minerals and ores that she provided. During his free time however, Flint was a bit of a rambunctious youngling. Often finding himself in a bit of trouble from time to time due to constantly goofing around, starting brawls or exploring deeper into the mountain than he should. It was a common practice for Flint until one day he had seen something he shouldn't. An event he shares with no one. He changed that day. Most accounted it to young Flint finally reaching maturity and straightening out. He continued to work the mountain like normal, was on the outside as friendly as he had always been, but within Flint held a secret tight that ended with him at the tavern each night drinking until passing out. It was an addiction, of course, but one that harmed no one other than himself. Often times blacking out and not remembering how he got there. Other time simply waking up in bed with a massive hangover.
Backstory/Leaving home: "Oh, you're a mixed-blood too? Was your mother the victim of attacking marauders who had their way with her? What a pity for you to live. Have you considered the alternative? What if your family was the defilers? Imagine living every day being reminded of the weakness of your lesser blood and your base conception. Imagine being reminded how the ones you live with are monsters that prey on others."
Tallis escaped his "home" (if that's what anyone would call it) as soon as he knew the way out. During his escape, whispers came from the darkness around him that guided his feet and direction. When he finally met sunlight, he turned back to the darkness, knowing he'll never truly accept either world. He was an abomination, stuck in twilight. After days of considering this, he understood his purpose: to stand in the darkness and hunt the creatures that hide within. The abyss was all too happy to accept him back. Each night, the whispers return, guiding his steps to safety on abandoned streets and in retribution against petty sneaks and thieves.
The race can also be re-tooled as a Bugbear, but the backstory is much darker. Also, what is your preferred stat-rolling method? I've seen as strict as 3d6x6 and nothing else, all the way to 4d6 lowest dropped plus a die re-roll plus a whole stat re-roll.

Backstory: Bigark is the second oldest son of one of Tachunka's prime ministers who was elected the year before Bigark was born 10 years ago. The family lives in luxury, spoiling Bigark and his siblings, but because Bigark is second oldest, he's basically nothing politically. His brother is treated like royalty and that has always pissed Bigark off. Because of that, he's constantly trying to impress his father, but more often just getting into trouble. The sibling rivalry is through the roof, and it is pretty apparent that Bigark will always play second fiddle to brother Thrusk. So, Bigark's decided he needs to make a name for himself in another way. He just hasn't figured out how yet.
Backstory: A fast-talking Tiefling with a heart of gold (or at least one that's gold-plated), Hymn likes nothing more than a quick drink and an incredible story. He has a nose for trouble, and he talks a big game about standing up for the little folk, celebrating justice. Every now and then he'll back it up by making an incredibly bad decision, be it stealing from the local tax collector or making sure the town's most aggressive guard doesn't make it to work ever again.
Currently, he's making his way across Nadaca, claiming he'd like to see all he can see. Occasionally he falls into waxing poetic about the province he left behind, and sometimes his taste is a little too finicky for his own good, but nothing's killed him yet. That has to count for something, right?
Ok I am liking the characters, looks like have 7. Seven characters is good. I will get more with you guys tomorrow. And to person who asked if I had books, I do have some not all, and will have content sharing once I enter you all into the campaign. I checked this thread due to insomnia, and now going try get some sleep again before work.
Damn, that filled up quick. I like the idea of the world and the politics behind it, would love to be a part of a campaign with a lot of political intrigue and I think I have the perfect character for it. Consider my application to be on the wait list in case you need anyone later.
Name: Kaldun Goldast
Race: Red Kobold
Gender: Male
Class: Draconic Sorcerer
Link to character sheet: ddb.ac/characters/5025497/KTrFn5
Backstory: When Kaldun was born, the elders saw he was marked with draconic magic and that the blood of their great Red Dragon ancestor imbued him with a natural connection with the arcane. His tribe mined the hills between the capital and Digith. It was a cold and desolate corner of the world that brought him few contacts with anyone outside his tribe. But Kaldun was spared toiling in the mines, instead he had the privilege to spend his days being instructed to properly channel is magical energy.
In the summer of his sixth year, he was outside the hills hunting with his companions when they were suddenly set upon by an adventuring party. A mixed band of Elves, Gnomes, and Humans ambushed them and mercilessly killed several of his fellow Kobolds. Kaldun fought back fiercely, rallied his allies and stuck down several of the band, but they were undone by one spell from a powerful Elven Sorcerer. Though his brethren fled, Kaldun hid and watched as they slaughtered the survivors. Though he feared for his life, he was amazed by the power of the magic he had seen, and felt compelled to learn more about it. He left his home and stealthily followed the Sorcerer for many days before they arrived at the magnificent capital in the Avamoore Dominion.
That was fifteen years ago, and Kaldun now calls Avamoore his home. He was dazzled by the grandeur of the city, in awe of the rich and powerful people who could seemingly bend the world to their whim. He immersed himself in learning, and was amazed at how big the world outside his tribe was. However, he was also mortified to learn that the wanton cruelty visited upon him and his companions by the Elven Sorcerer was disturbingly common in Avamoore. Though he had always been taught to fear foreigners and other races, Kaldun was also taught that the Kobold were a proud and fearsome people, the honorable descendants of mighty dragons. But the rest of the world looked down Kobolds, the disparaged them, spit on them, beat them, and even killed them openly in the streets of this great city. As Kaldun absorbed the splendor and the decadence of Avamoore, he became sure of his purpose in life. He would teach them all that the Kobolds were the sacred and honorable Draconic beings he believed them to be, rightful of a place among the elite races of the world. He was destined to be the one to teach them respect the Kobold... or to fear them.

Vercinius Thrax: Lizardfolk Cleric - Hoard of the Dragon Queen
L’Ouverture Zinn: Kobold Sorcerer - Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage
Titus Vorenus: Dragonborn Paladin - Waterdeep: Dragon Heist
Nemean Goldenmane: Tabaxi Fighter - Lost Mine of Phandelver (Retired)
Ok I actually love the idea Kobold in the party, cause history I have thought up for them. First a little behind the curtain my thought process when I thought of this world setting a year and a half maybe 2 years ago. My passion for DnD was finding the Unexpectables streams. I went out and bought physical copy of 5th Edition Player's Handbook, flipped through it and could not find Kobold or Kenu. Wasn't until I discovered DnD Beyond and started buying the digital guides I found out about Kobolds and Kenu.
With my setting with war against dragons, I decided since Kobold's worshiped dragons as gods, the dragons easily manipulated most of the Kobolds to be sacrificial warriors along with the population of Dragonborn still loyal to them and didn't rebel against them.
So after the war, the Kobold's that didn't die in battle, were hunted and exterminate with extreme prejudice. With a very quick dwindling population, the smarter Kobold clans went into hiding convincing the rest of the continent that they were indeed extinct. So those who do venture out into civilization are often mistaken for, Lizfolk children. Only those who are really educated on the subject of the war, or reptilian humanoid biology will be able to spot the difference.
I am going to let you join Smull, you're just going to have to lower Kuldan's level to 1. After Smull, no more players, I have removed the recruiting tag, and let him join cause think it would be an interesting dynamic to the story. The story will be taking place in North Wind, a smaller town just 10 miles away from the Lawless Lands border. It is two days away from is Gaea Day celebration, day where farmers bring in their crops to sell, traders come in to sell furs and other goods, for stocking up for winter
Now almost ready to begin just need a few things.
Shaz- I assume Prospero has an alias when he pretends to be a noble, what is that be and how does it look different than when Pospero is being himself. You also get to add 92 X 8 amount of gold to your sheet for the scams have run. You have decided to come to this smaller town for you swear the law is catching up to you, so figure out hiding out in small town would take some of the heat off, but hearing the festival coming up figure out might get some good coin here too.
DirtyDog- Since you are playing the son of a slain former Prime Minister, I will let you name him. I will also let you either choose to add up to 1,000 gold of inheritance to your sheet. What ever amount you do not add now, will be then stored in bank in York, the capital of Tachunka. Bigark is in town cause the talk of a festival interest him, wondering how a human festival compares to an orc one
Ruinicscribbles- You're feeling the same way about the upcoming festival, wondering what a human festival is like.
Ermis and Wreck- Flint and Slag has been assigned to help gaurd and deliver a shipment of iron ore all along a trade up from Iron Side up to Nadadac, and North Wind is the last stop on the route. You both been given a contract for 500 gold. You have already been paid 250 which you can add to your character sheets and will be paid the other half when the last of the ore is delivered then you two are free to do as you please.
Smull- After you lower Kaldun's level to 1, Kaldun will be a stoleway on the air ship the company delivering the iron ore to North Wind, but you have not been found out, yet.
Goodrail and Barlow- I just imagine them wandering into town, its a small town, not very guarded. Forest to the north that leads to the Savage lands, farmland to the south for several miles.
So how does that sound for everyone as starts? If anyone wants something changed, let me know now. The posting schedule least for me will be around 7:30am-12pm Central every day, at least once day. On my days off, I can can post more, like tongith can start at 9pm-and go until noon the next day.
When Prospero is out in the wilderness he wears very common clothes, even a little dirty and torn, all part of the act. He makes himself looks purposefully disheveled, messy hair, dirt on his face, very rustic. He creates bad situations for travelers, traps, pitfalls, changing roadsigns to get them lost, etc. Then comes to their aid, and afterwards offers to sell them some potions to aid them, but they're all just colored water.
But when he travels in to town he puts on a large expensive coat that he stole off a sleeping traveler and goes by the name Wilamin Silverstring, a wealthy noble from a nearby city. He cleans himself up, combs his hair, dons the expensive coat and walks with rich person swagger.
*** So is Kaldun stowed away on the same ship that Slag and Flint are supposed to be protecting, or is he in an airship and we are guarding a cart on the ground? Also, are we OK to start posting what our characters are doing? Also are we OK to start posting in this thread?
Stowed onto the same ship, you'll have noticed food been gone missing, supplies gone, crates been rearranged. That sort of thing. As for starting, I will write out a uge opening post. Still sort of in planning phase. I'll do the post after heard from everyone make sure they are fine how I have their characters starting out.

I've been wanting to try this character for a while:
Name: Tallis "The Wraith" (self-appointed)/"Darksniffer" (parent-appointed)
Class: Hexblade Warlock and/or Gloom Stalker Ranger (eventual multi-class to both)
Race: Drow Half-Elf
Characters:
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser
Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale
Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
I've been wanting to try this character for a while:

Name: Bigark
Race: Orc
Gender: Male
Class: Fighter
Link to character sheet: https://ddb.ac/characters/5234337/qEMhw4
This looks so interesting! I'd love to be a part of this :D I'm an active poster and a big rping fan. Hope my guy can fit in somewhere!
Name: Hymn
Race: Glasya Tiefling
Gender: Male
Class: Rogue
Link to character sheet: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/5234739
Backstory:
A fast-talking Tiefling with a heart of gold (or at least one that's gold-plated), Hymn likes nothing more than a quick drink and an incredible story.
He cleans himself up, combs his hair, dons the expensive coat and walks with rich person swagger.
ok thank you, and if anyone has questions can ask me here, or in pm as set all link to join campaign
