"Move quickly, south, head south, stay calm and keep moving." Andor shouts as loudly as possible trying to steer confused villagers away from the direction of the giants.
Turning to his friends he calls out " We have no idea what we are facing but there must be at least two giants, can anyone see any sort of resistance forming up, they must have some guards or militia here. Any sign of that half-elf from the Inn? She might be useful in a fight".

Rixton:
I look to the sky to make sure it is not Cloud Giants, as in Nightstone. Then, I spur my horse towards the center of town. "That fort in the town square has the best chance of a militia. And the best chance of protection from flying rocks."
As I ride to the fort, I scan the town and the surrounding land and sky for the threats.
"Where's that kid going alone? " Ladrian asks to Vigan, Andor and Carrow. "I say we go to high ground northwest, to have a better view and look for guards/militia"
"Hold onto that thought Ladrian, I'll meet you there but I'm going to try and get some reinforcements first." Andor wheels his horse back the way they have come spurring the animal on and throwing himself down from the saddle before bursting into the Inn.
" To arms, giants attack, we must protect those unable to protect themselves. Archers, we are moving to the high ground to the northwest to set up a counter attack. We need you, the townsfolk need you!
Andor implores the rangers and scouts to join him, as well as Zindra, if she is still there.
Turning to Ladrian, the goliath replies; "Agreed, let's go!"
Spurring his horse into action, Vigan gallops after Rixton into the middle of the town, continuing past the fort, all the while looking for signs of the attackers, or anything else amiss.
Perception: 10
Perception: 9
Move horses max dash distance, so about 240' I think. Perception rolls for my first 2 rounds above.
"I will go to Rixton, maybe we can get some of the guards to join us, I will try join you on the high ground later" putting his heels into his horse Carrow rides after Rixton. Maybe we can muster some manpower to make a stand. As he rides he raises his voice the best he can above the commotion "To arms to arms, rally at the fort, stand in the defence of your home" all the while scanning the area for any signs of immediate threat.
Andor returns to the Triboar Arms in an attempt to rally anyone who can fight. Zindra Winterbow and two other scouts, rapidly seize their weapons and scurry out the door. "We're with you!" Zindra shouts. She and the other two scouts make head east from the tavern.
As Carrow and Rixton ride up to the main tower, a fierce-looking human female exits the keep. She holds a heavy crossbow in her hand and strapped to her back is a greatsword. With blinking an eye or offering an introduction, she says, "I hope you're ready to fight, boys! I sent the Twelve to aid some ranchers who'd been attacked by orcs. So, Triboar is nigh defenseless."
Ladrian and Vigan, after clearing the northwest corner of the tower are the first to see the strength and number of the invading force. Several magmin are running to and fro, setting things ablaze. Orogs are marching toward the center of the town, followed closely by two fire giants. Lastly, javelin-wielding orcs astride axe beaks are terrorizing townspeople at every opportunity.
A few thoughts...
All tokens are intentionally over sized; It helps everyone to see things a bit more clearly.
The lack of grid squares will be a challenge to all of us. So, PLEASE be precise in your language when describing the movement/location of your character or NPC.
I will post an updated map after every round; this should keep things from becoming too murky.
Some leniency will be allowable when it comes to measuring the distances for ranged and melee attacks.
The token for the mounted orcs is two colors. Gray represents the orc; black represents the axe beak. If rider and mount become separated, then the two colored triangles will be separated to reflect that.
The three light green diamonds represent the three scouts. I will manage them through this situation.
Initiative for all monsters and the three scouts: 11
If your initiative roll is higher, then please take your action immediately.
Your NPC will act on your character's initiative roll.
(alright let get this party started! Andor let me know if you want to make your turn before mine)
Ladrian
"What in the nine hells is that? Are those orcs mounted in...birds? And what's up with those fiery goblins? Better to keep our distance" Ladrian says to everyone around him, analyzing the situation and his surroundings.
"Vigan, let's go back to where Carrow and Rixton are and decide what to do"
Darathra, the women with breastplate, crossbow, longsword and long black hair.
"Any help you and your friends can provide, it will be greatly appreciated! We're outnumbered but we need to ghet those filthy orcs out of Triboar!" she says to Rixton, Carrow, Ladrian and Vigan
The dwarf looked up from his work, the cries were unexpected but Ghelryn had paid attention to the rumours and wasn't completely unprepared for battle, already wearing his breastplate he scooped up his shield and his battleaxe and moved outside towards the sounds of commotion. "So it is giants then, well there's one dwarf in Triboar looking forward to meeting you" he snarls.
OOC Ghelryn will move up to the narrow area between the pool and the right side of the nearby building.
Andor
"Go, make your shots count." Andor calls out after the scouts as they move off in defence of the town, grabbing his horse he vaults into the saddle and moves north, northeast riding until he passes the Evermoor road and sees an armed and armoured dwarf moving out towards the sounds of the enemy ahead of him.
OOC Andor will get as close as possible to Ghelryn's position.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
It started as Darz was returning home, it started all too quickly, screams and people running, crowds heading south he then saw the smoke and fire, the rocks falling. Although armed Darz reverted to an older version of himself a life he left behind an instinct to survive, to get out when things got hairy, kicked in and with that he turned towards the keep and started south.
OOC: Darz will move towards the fort and then towards and down Evermoor way.
Carrow
Hearing that 'The Twelve' whoever they are, were not present Carrow could only assume that no more help would come from the keep. Looking up to the others he hears Ladrian, Orcs he thought this could get interesting, he hadn't fought his kin for some time. Dismounting and moving into the open Carrow could see now the mounted savage ones harassing people as they fled. Moving now in front of Vigans horse Carrow releases his first shot at the closest Mounted Orc.
After assessing the threat, the bulk of the force devoted to defending Triboar springs into action by moving to better combat locations. The three scouts dash east from the Triboar Arms, then turn north on a line toward the small pond. Andor spurs his horse to the north, heading toward the dwarf Ghelryn. Rixton, Ladrian, Vigan, and Carrow, along with Darathra are gathered near one another in the main square and seem ready to face the three mounted orcs that are streaking toward the center of town.
The first southbound orc absorbs an arrow from Carrow's longbow; the ranger is accurate despite being nearly 300' away from his target.
The magmin, orogs, and fire giants continue their march southward; none seem to be in a hurry as they advance at a regular pace. All mounted orcs are moving at full speed, however. The three to the west advance 100' toward the center of town; the wounded orc in the lead just clears the southeast corner of the building from which Othovir has just exited. Knowing they are too far too throw a javelin at anyone, these three orcs stay low and urge their axe beaks forward
The three mounted orcs to the east make a sudden turn westward for they see their first opportunity to draw blood. Narth immediately becomes the target of the lead orc's javelin.
Melee javelin attack: 11 | Piercing damage, if successful: 4
(Actions for Vigan & Othovir and Rixton & Narth are next, which will end round 1, after which a new map will be posted)
Narth is caught in the doorway when chaos erupts. A javelin whizzes past his head, causing him to duck and draw his hand crossbow. Orcs! He turns and looks with a worried glance back through the doorway but with no time to spare, he shuts the door and (moving forward if necessary) takes aim at the lead orc, then fires. After his bolt is loosed, he dashes back around behind the building, taking cover behind the largest tree.
Hand Crossbow Attack: 16 Damage: 4

Rixton:
I begin to see how the battle will unfold. I need to get to high ground. I push Viola, dashing, sprinting (Move + Dash + Cunning Action = 180 feet), pulling up behind a small house (the one between the red and green diamonds). I stop to gauge the battle here, look for my rope and grappling hook. "Dammit," I mutter. I left the grappling hook in Nightstone...
"Come on Ladrian, down an orc before me and I'll get you that drink you wanted in Nightstone!"
The goliath grins at his comrade before jogging towards the oncoming orcs , readying his glaive to meet the charge.
Move standard 30ft and use Dodge as an action. Think this puts me at the north corner of the square.
Othovir
About to head to the inn for a well-deserved drink and good conversation with the other local tradesman, Othovir begins to close up his establishment. The turning of the key in the door's lock coincides exactly with the boom of the first boulder to hit the town. Frowning in confusion at the noise his key apparently made, he unlocks the door again. It opens with a standard clicking noise. Locking the door a second time coincides with the second boulder hitting the town. Othovir gives the key sitting in the lock a long, hard stare, as if it should know better than to make such a racket at this time of the evening.
The screams and shrieks begin to ring out across the town, while Othovir holds the key up in front of his face with two fingers. "Now look what you've done", he tuts at it as he drops the key in his breast pocket. Only when the cries of "Giants!" reach him does he realize what's happening. "Ah. Bugger." Cautiously making his way towards the edge of his property, he peers round the corner only to see bird-riding orcs barreling down the main street. I thought they said giants...
Looking towards the town square, he makes out several figures preparing to make a stand against the attackers. "At least we won't be doing this alone then", he says to his key.
Pulling an arcane focus from a chain round his neck, he whispers a few words and taps the focus a few times, as if trying to get the attention of someone inside it. Othovir subsequently glows faintly for a second, then draws his rapier.
Cast Mage Armor as an action, and move to the eastern edge of his building.
Despite his tremendous surprise at the sudden appearance of orcs astride axe beaks, Narth is able to fire off a quick shot and tag the lead orc for some damage.
(Round 3 has concluded. Andor, Carrow, and Ladrian may take their actions for round 4; the invading horde and scouts will follow)

Ladrian
Hearing Vigan's dare he says: "Now that's what I hear, my dear friend. Let's do this! Wait for them to be in range!" he says to Carrow and the women on his right side.
He moves 30ft in Vigan's direction, uses Cunning action as bonus action to move another 30feet and draws his crossbow aiming at the first mounted orc, using the Ready action, when he is within 80 feet of Landrian, he will fire his crossbow (to avoid distance penalty)
If conditions are met:
Attack: 11 Damage: 8
Darathra
Hearing Vigan's and Ladrian rallying cry she follows Ladrian 30ft and also readies her crossbow for the first orc in optimum range, following Ladrian's instructions "Yes! Let's do this and get ride Triboar of this filthy menace! Your help is greatly appreciated"
Andor
"Move quickly, south, head south, stay calm and keep moving." Andor shouts as loudly as possible trying to steer confused villagers away from the direction of the giants.
