I lied! Nif, on one of the bugbears, you also find a key. Also, each of you get 150 XP for defeating the bugbears.
As Nif holds out the amulet, the goblin's eyes brighten. She hesitantly, but joyously accepts the amulet and clasps it against her chest with both hands, closing her eyes for a second. Opening them again, she gives Nif a curious look, which she then extends to the others. Taking a deep breath, she looks at Vondal. "My name ... is Droop. I was brought here from Cragmaw Castle, where I had been taken after I traveled toward the sea from my home in the desert. I was curious about others like me. The other ... goblins ... they ... are not like the Bhuka." She looks down. "They do not like me. The king sent me here with the bugbears to give the Glasstaff and those in red information from the Black Spider. But the bugbears make sport of me. They took my shunui," she says, opening her fingers to look at the amulet again, "so I could not defend myself." She looks up at Vondal. "There are prisoners here. Those in red plan to sell them as slaves."
Nif:
Nif places his ear against the door, but doesn't hear anything. Testing the door, he finds it unlocked. He barely opens the thick door in an attempt to remain stealthy. As soon as he opens the door a crack, there is a rattling sound and a loud uproar by multiple voices!
Karl:
As Karl is standing mostly in the doorway observing Vondal and the goblin's interaction, he notices a distant sound from down the hall where Nif has gone. It kind of sounds like a muffled cheer.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Karl looks over at Vondal and says in Dwarvish "just heard something down the corridor where Nif went 'xplorin'. I'm gunna take a Captain Cook. If you hear me yell come runnin', otherwise I'll be back in a jiffy."
Karl then sets off down the corridor as stealthily as he can (Stealth Roll: 17)

Nif opens the door just a little more and peers in. He can see several worn tables and chairs are scattered around this large room. Wooden benches are drawn up against walls decorated with draperies of brown and red, and several ale kegs are propped up and tapped. Four tough-looking human warriors wearing scarlet cloaks are gathered around one of the tables. A stack of coins and trinkets is heaped upon the tabletop between them. They appear to be playing some kind of game and don't seem to have realized they're being spied upon. When Nif all of a sudden becomes aware of Karl right behind him, the duergar jumps, but not enough to break cover. Nif backs up enough to let Karl peer through the gap to witness the scene behind the door as well.
Not wanting to repeat his mistake from last time, Nif heads back down the hallway before gesturing Karl over. He whispers in Dwarvish, "What's the plan Uncle? Surprise them now?"
Vondal frowns, and then widens his eyes. "Wait." He grasps Karl on the shoulder to reply back in Dwarvish. "If it is not redbrands, do not attack. Okay? I... I do not know what it is. But I've been hearing..." He groans. "Just... keep open mind." He lets go at that point, leaving Karl to his devices.
He turns back to droop with a tired sighs, and began tugging at the side of his beard in frustration. Finally, he nods to himself. "Time is growing short, so let's finish this quickly. What do you know of this Black Spider, and Glasstaff? And... Will you aid us in rescuing these prisoners? I know you do not owe them much at all now.. Or us, for that matter... save perhaps your life, depending on what those bugbears were planning to do to you as far as 'sports' go."
At this point, he kneels down before her so that they were closer to eye level and offers a hand to help her up. "Sorry. That was not mean to be a threat. But we cannot have you run off for now. So, it is either be tied up, or have your aid until business done here."He pauses to let his words sink in. "A friend of ours has been taken to Cragmaw, and we aim to get him back soon. But need a guide, Ms. Droop. And so far, that seems be you. So, what will it be?"
"Kikanuti wishes that I avoid conflict if possible," Droop says with a hint of sadness in her voice. "Against her wishes, I sought my goblin sisters who worship those other than she. I ... will help you ... if I can." She accepts Vondal's hand and stands. "I only know the name Black Spider. He directs King Grol and Glasstaff. The one they call Glasstaff is a human wizard with a staff made of glass. He lives down here as well."
Karl whispers to Nif "Tempting young'un, tempting. Wot's more they wearing red which makes them Red Bellies and therefore bad guys. But tempting as it to snot these buggers, I reckon we should go back and 'ave a chat with the others first."

Vondal pats Droop on the shoulder. "One can ask for no less than that... But you mentioned-..." He gets no further before the others return with news. "Hm... I do not suppose you have a means of luring at least one of them over here, Ms. Droop? If not, I have.. potential other idea. Two even, perhaps involving trip wire. Problem is. If we don't ambush them right, or lure at least one away to make fight easier. One of those men at least will leave to sound alarm."

Night thinks for a minute, "They did seem like they were a few drinks in. I am sure we could get them by surprise and they will be slow to react. If one of them do plan to leave, either Zander or I could fire a shot or Vondal or Uncle could chase him down. But I think we do need to engage them, as well they will have plenty of information. The three of you handled 4 sober redbrands, 4 of us should be able to handle 4 drunk ones."

If the the group is in agreement, Nif will say, "Ok but remember we want at least one alive to interrogate." As he says this he gives Karl and Zander a meaningful look. He will then lead the way back to the door with his crossbow in hand.
When everyone is ready, he will count down from 3 with his hand, before kicking the door open ready to fire at the redbrands.
Smiling weakly, Vondal holds up his hands in defeat. "Alright. Alright. We do it that way." After cracking his neck a few times noisily he adds, "Just wish we had at least a little time rest. But we can't trust there won't be a guard shift change soon."Vondal downs his potions(6 HP Regained), grimacing at the bitter taste. "Droop." He turns to her. "Stay close, and stay safe. I don't know what your I.. assume goddess granted miracles involve. But if you can spare one should one of us fall, that alone would be greatly appreciated."
More or less content in having said all he needed to, Vondal readies a pair of daggers in case even he couldn't cross the distance fast enough, and passes over Chaff Cutter(Handaxe) to Karl in case the same was for him.

Droop doesn't recoil at Vondal's touch, but looks at him again with a bit of surprise and a bit of fear. She opens her mouth tentatively to answer him, but as the others talk over her, she is happy to let them speak and simply looks from face to face with big eyes. The more they talk about violence, the closer her hands, still clasping her shunui, get to her throat. At the monk's recommendation that she stay close to him, she says finally, "Kikanuti has granted me certain gifts under Grandmother's tutelage. I ... hope I can be brave." She attempts to give him a weak smile. "What is your name, strange one?"
OOC: You definitely get a surprise round. From what's going on, people's eagerness, etc., I'm assuming this configuration:
Surprise round, we'll go in the order you're lined up (Nif, Zander, Karl, Vondal, Droop). It just makes sense. Round 1 will be rolled initiative, so go ahead and post an initiative roll when you post your surprise round post.
