In response to Wruce's fish-grappling hook: The water starts to ripple around where the rope sunk. Something is emerging... a small school of translucent cave fish have begun to nibble on the rations!
Upon closer inspection, the unevenly cut stone walls could provide useful footholds, a DC 15 Dexterity (Athletics) check to cross. This can be a group check, so unless over half the party failed you would make it across.
Alexandria bites her bottom lip to stifle a laugh after getting such a reaction from one of the many grumpy grandpas. As she calmed herself she watched Wruce (finally a name!) throw the hook into the water.
”Aw, kinda liked giving you people nicknames, but you guys can call me Raven.” She answers.

Wruce begins pulling in his rope, wrapping it methodically into perfect overlapping loops. He looks over to see Alexandria running her hand over the wall intrigued by something and the grumpy dwarf who seems to be fumbling with a rope and crowbar.
"Raven, what have you found?"
Athletics: 3 (for the sake of brevity)
( Not that it matters, but I rolled for Athletics(str) and not Dex my result should be 11 )
”I think we can use the wall to get across but...” She turns back from her examination. “I don’t think it’s going to be possible. Hopefully gramps with the crowbar can get that make shift grapple going.”

Dennis looked down at the water, and then up at the footholds in the wall. Taking a deep breath, he tried to climb across the wall.
Acrobatics:3
Slipping on the damp stones, Dennis immediately splashed down into the water, floundering for a moment before he was able to tread water. Remembering his spellbook, he frantically began swimming for the staircase. "Ah, no, no, no! The water's never gonna come out!"
OoC: Right now, there are 4 fails and 3 successes (Karnys' makeshift grapple saves Dennis and his spellbook fom falling!). With 10 players plus your guide you would need 6 successes.
I will roll for Embry and the others who haven't posted yet.
Embry: 8
Rowan: 16
Mathers: 8
The Unnamed Dwarf: 18
Superbad left and Bandrews68 has not posted, so Mathers and The Unnamed Dwarf are now trap bait that's travelling with the party but not actually doing anything.
Alexandria lets out a huff in frustration and mutters something about stupid rocks.
(Should we try and recruit 2 others then?)

Oh the horror! The wall was more moist and uneven than you accounted for. Karnys manages to catch Dennis, but to his misfortune, Wruce slips off right next to him. Poor Karnys tries to grab hold of Wruce's cape but is dragged in himself. The grapple comes undone, and everyone tumbles in!
After a half-minute of swimming and dragging out your armored companions, you stop to collect yourselves. All spellcasters must unprepare a cantrip and a level 1 spell due to water damage affecting spellbooks, components, etc, and monsters will get a +2 to hit bonus in the next fight because your equipment is sodden and heavy.
Looking around the room, you see that the cavern you are in is vast in comparison to the cramped passage. The floor and ceiling slope upwards to the base of a door, its upper half lost in darkness beyond the reach of your feeble Light spell. The door, like the seal before, is made of unmarked stone.
8 players is enough for 2 parties, but if we dropped down to 6 players I would combine the two.
"Who thought this was a good idea?" Wruce thinks to himself after examining Yuna.

How far are the fishes from the shore?
Also, are there any small creatures?
Karnys will attempt to make a sort of grappling hook out of his crowbar and rope.
Intelligence check if needed: 9
Athletics check: 7
(Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . .)
If I get advantage because I'm using the crowbar for help: 17
(I have already rolled 2 ones. This is what is commonly referred to as bad.)

(Yes. My characters tend to do that on rare occasions.)

Roderick stays near the walls looking for a mechanism or release.
Question: Monsters get a +2 to hit because my equipment is wet and heavy. So, if I take off my armor, will monsters still get a +2 bonus?
