(OOC @Pertuie: I'm afraid the 24-hour rule has been triggered. Everyone was called into action with this post, and we haven't heard from you since this post. This means that Marfaen will be going into autopilot for his next turn (below) so that we can keep the action going. I hope you can rejoin us soon).
(OoC: Don't worry, I know I seem quite lost around here, but it's because of high movement IRL. I've read the rules and I know them, no problem skipping a turn.)
After having cast True Strike, Marfaen thinks back about the spells he had prepared, and none would be useful to attack the creature now... So, to not waste the time he spent casting the spell the last turn for nothing, he rushes as close as he can to the Will-o'-Wisp (25 ft.) and throws the dagger he grabbed a few seconds back.
Attack:20Damage:5 (I took out the Advantage because if I'm not misunderstood I can't reach the close range of a dagger of 20 ft.)
(OOC @Grx: Graxx is too far for a melee attack, so I'll move him as close as possible and interpret your attack as a ranged one. Note that this means you have now thrown both of your handaxes).
Graxx: The barbarian moves closer to the Will-o'-Wisp to have a better view of the target, and launches his second handaxe. The ax goes through the spirit, harming it, and lands on the other side (cumulative damage on Will-o'-Wisp#2: 4).
(OOC @Pertuie: You are right about letting your advantage cancel the disadvantage due to the range of the dagger).
Marfaen: Taking Graxx's lead, Marfaen tries to also approach the enemy and throw his weapon. His dagger however, lands just short of its mark.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lightning: The crackling blue energy jumps once again, this time hitting Andmarir! The ranger takes 4 lightning damage.
(OOC @Nantook: You must succeed on a {DC 10} CON saving throw or you also become stunned. The damage also forces you to do a second concentration check on that Hunter's Mark. So in total, you owe me three CON saving throws, all have {DC 10}. Please also make sure your HP in the character sheet is kept up-to-date. This Lightning is on a mission!)
Surruk: Free from the Lightning and still conscious thanks to Andmarir's healing spell, the elf tries to wield her longbow but notices that the Lightning has completely destroyed it. She will then spend the rest of her turn reaching for her Pole of Angling intending to use it as an improvised weapon. She will also yelp: "We need to trap this Lightning somehow. It is skipping many a patron to reach specific targets. There must be a pattern here!"
Will-o'-Wisp: The spirit will attempt to damage Utar.
-> (OOC: oh wow, another crit!) Utar receives the same threatment that Drazzim got a few seconds ago. Utar is now unconscious.
Finally, noticing that Surruk has also noticed something, Buhrell responds: "Yes, we must trap it. I believe its attack pattern has something to do with these yellow flowers" she wolds up the safflower necklace she took from the dwarven girl. "But that doesn't explain why it attacked you and your bow..."
UPDATED MAP:
(Drazzim, Andmarir, and Utar are up next. Marfaen, Graxx, Neya, and Rag can also post for the next round)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Utar rocks on his feet, and stumbles but ultimately stays standing. Faint lines if smoke coming from under his tabbard he bellows at the Will'o whisp as he swings at it again, his amulet glowing as he makes the first swing.
Con save to maintain concentration in Hunter's Mark: 21
Con save vs lightning or be stunned: 5 will leave this one here.
Con save take two for stun. 23
Con save to maintain Hunter's Mark a second time: 6
Healing Surruk was priority and getting damaged by the lightning was expected. Yet when the lightning jumps towards him he could not move fast enough. The pain was intense but he did manage to resist the same affect that Surruk suffered. This time he is simply moving away from it as fast as possible, if he is able to move away from the lightning. He will move towards the exit door. (That is all he is doing for now)
Drazzim, getting very annoyed that some glowing ball of nothing is being such a pest, rushes as fast as he can towards it. Unable to reach it due to his stubby legs, he takes his other handaxe out and hurls it the last few feet at it.
Handaxe vs. Will-o'-Wisp:19 vs. AC. Hit:9 slashing damage.
Drazzim rushes forward and throws another handaxe, hitting the Will-o'-Wisp (cumulative damage to Will-o'-Wisp#2: 8).
Utar manages to keep himself in the battle and swings at the enemy twice, hitting once (cumulative damage to Will-o'-Wisp#2: 10).
Andmarir resists the worst of the effects from the Lightning but loses his magical mark on the enemy. Able to fight back the locking of his muscles, the ranger then forces his way towards the door (using the dash action, but only moving at half-speed).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Graxx will move to Utar. "OPEN UP!" Graxx will administer his Potion of Healing to Utar granting 6 Hitpoints. Graxx will use any remaining movement to get as close as he can to the North East corner table to retrieve his Greatsword, Lightbreaker.
Marfaen, passes the pages of the book in his mind, looking nervous, he could only see two options, at that point, and one was dumb, the other probably wouldn't work, but he had to do something.
He steps 5 ft. foward, where he can take a good grasp of the Wisp's position, and throws his second dagger.
Attack:13Damage:4
He's frustrated that he had to go with that option, but then he decides to ask a question to anyone who could hear him. "I know this might not be the right time for this, but I could be doing a lot more if I got one item for my spells... I need a diamond, does anyone have that?"
22. Marfaen - AC up to 16 because of Mage Armor; 21. Graxx, Neya, Rag; 20. Lightning; 18. Surruk, Buhrell; 16.Will-o'-Wisp#1, Will-o'-Wisp#2 (cumulative damage: 10); 08. Drazzim; 06. Andmarir; 03. Utar.
Done evacuating the vast majority of tavern patrons, Buhrell jumps the bar counter and joins the fray (She'll go at the same initiative turn as Surruk).
Marfaen: The wizard steps forward and attempts another dagger throw, but to no avail.
(OOC @Pertuie: I had to move Marfaen a bit further, 10 feet instead of just 5, such that he was within the 20-foot range for the dagger).
Graxx performs a potion "drive-by" on his way to the group's original table. Utar heals a bit, probably surprised by the friendly force-feeding. Facing his Moon-touched sword, the barbarian also notices that Drazzim's glaive is stowed away in the same area.
Neya: Nothing more that 'This is a really large fang' comes to mind at the moment. Madame Freona, still holding her ground, responds "We wanted something spécial for the celebration, so we bought some safflower huile. It was not used in the preparation of every repas. Why do you ask?" She is holding a large metal pan as if intended for self-defense. Even before Madame Freona is done answering, Neya shoots another arrow, but the Will-o'-Wisp avoids it successfully.
Rag (autopilot): The halfling yells out "Oy, fancy wizard, you can borrow this, but I'll collect interest from either you or your body afterwards" as he chucks his white diamond (50gp) in Marfaen's direction. He then prepares another arrow and lets it loose.
-> Shortbow (ranged weapon attack with Sneak Attack) vs. Will-o-'Wisp#2: Attack: 22 Damage: 7 piecing.
-> The arrow hits, but it is only a glancing blow (cumulative damage to Will-o-'Wisp#2: 13).
-> Rag will then use his magic cape to help him hide as a Cunning Action (Stealth: 17).
Lightning: The blue energy will continue to pester Andmarir for another 5 lightning damage.
Surruk: Light on her feet, the elven scout will dash forward ready to attack the Will-o'-Wisp with her improvised pole weapon.
Buhrell: The half-orc runs towards Neya, her arms extended: "Here grab this," she offers the safflower necklace. "If we can attract the Lightning to you, we may be able to trap it within whatever it was that released it to begin with." She looks over to the fang being held by the dead man on the floor, "Was that it? You might want to have that in hand as well once the lightning comes."
Will-o'-Wisp: The spirit will let its light dim until it becomes invisible once again. It then reappears 10 feet north of where it was floating just a moment ago, right in front of Drazzim, but more importantly, right on top of another one of Graxx's earlier victims. The unconscious cowl-wearing half-elf has been selected as its next meal:
Hat-wearing Half-elf's CON saving throw: 1. Will-o'-Wisp heals for: 11. (Cumulative damage to Will-o'Wisp#2: 2).
The half-elf joins his hat-wearing kin in the afterlife, his corpse dried and shriveled. The Will-o'-Wisp's light becomes bright again as it absorbs the half-elf's life and makes it its own.
UPDATED MAP:
(Drazzim, Andmarir, and Utar are up next. Marfaen, Graxx, Neya, and Rag can also post for the next round)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hearing Graxx's approach, Utar turns, extending a hand to take the potion. Opening his mouth to voice his thanks, he is somewhat startled to find the potion roughly inserted and held up, flowing into his throat.
"My... Thanks...?" Coughing and spluttering the words out.
Bent double, Utar grips his amulet and again, it glows as he casts sacred flame at the the whisp.
Drazzim grits his teeth, stepping up onto the chair to give him a bit of height advantage as he attempts to cleave through the will-o'-wisp once more. He now grasps his second hand onto his greataxe as it swings wildly in the air
Greataxe vs. Will-o'-Wisp:15 vs. AC. Hit:15 slashing damage.
Andmarir is in pain, the lightning seems to really like him for some reason. With no one really around him, he maintains his grit in the situation. He knows that he will not last long but somehow he knows that the small ball of light is connected to the lightning going through his body. He decides to stay where he is and try to shoot the light ball.
Seeing Drazzim preparing a strike, Marfaen senses it could be a missed opportunity, but a glimpse of the future flashing in his mind shows a much more precise slash than he initially thought, one that probably would hit the Wisp.
Changing Drazzim's attack roll with the greataxe for a 17 from my Portent roll. And then +4 from his own attack modifier.
Marfaen looks over to Rag, and barely takes the diamond in his hand. "Oh, thanks. Don't worry, I'll make it worth it." He places his other hand over the acquired diamond, and light - almost white - bluish light appears from it, he then goes on to show his palm toward the Wisp, a ball of light goes on into its general direction. Using Chromatic Orb with Cold damage.
Drazzim: As the dwarf swings his greataxe, he is sure he sees the Will-o'-Wisp zipping away, but is surprised when the attack actually connects (cumulative damage to Will-o'-Wisp#2: 9).
Andmarir: Despite the pain, the ranger manages to let another arrow fly through the taverns, his rigid muscles ironically helping him maintain a steady aim (cumulative damage to Will-o'-Wisp#2: 14).
Utar: Fire-like radiance descends on the Wisp (DEX saving throw {DC 12}: 16). The spirit is too quick for the slow to form sacred flames.
END OF INITIATIVE ROUND 5
(We'll pick up at the top of next round later today. Meanwhile, Graxx, Neya, and Rag are still up).
Neya takes the fang from the first victim and the necklace offered by Buhrell. "Thanks... I don't imagine the lightning will stay in place for too long, so we'll also need to put this thing in something non-conductive. Maybe glass..."
Then she wraps the necklace around her right arm, holds the fang in both hands, and braces herself.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Posting two options as I may be asleep when Lerus answers and I do not want to slow the game.
