Just after dusk falls, the Old Svalich Road you have been traveling meanders into a valley watched over by dark, brooding mountains to the north and south. The woods recede, revealing a sullen mountain burg surrounded by a wooden palisade. Thick fog presses up against this wall, as though looking for a way inside, hoping to catch the town aslumber.
The dirt road ends at a set of sturdy iron gates with a pair of shadowy figures standing beside them. Planted in the ground and flanking the road outside the gates are a half-dozen pikes with wolves' heads impaled on them.
The wall is 15' tall, its vertical logs held together with thick ropes and mortar. The top of each log has been sharpened to a point.
The gates are made of iron bars. Heavy iron chains keep the gates shut.
"Go on! We don't need your gold. We are paid enough! What do you think would happen if we opened the gate to just anyone who offered us gold?"
"I think you'd be a lot richer!" Lae calls back. "But all kidding aside... open the damned gates now, or come morning I'll march up there and shove this gold piece where the sun doesn't shine!"
I'm not surprised either, let's keep going.

Ismark hears Lae, "I suppose I do have good news--it is not much further to Vallaki if my sources were correct."
“Well that is good news. Let’s not tarry then. Onward shall we?”
"Yes lets move on. Why let grass grow under your feet when you have work to do."

Ismark, can you get us in without issue? Or is it up to us?
-We are all just one failed saving throw away from someone else's fantasy...
“Please tell me you can get us in without issue?”
"I can try, but you lot look a bit more persuasive than I. These people don't know me either."
He turns. "Hello there! Is anyone there? We need to be let in to your town."
A voice from inside replies, "Move on! These gets will not be opened until light, now off with you!"
"Will the gates open for a gold piece?" Lae calls back.
Please, We've been traveling all day. We're seeking shelter from the woods.

Roll persausion--each of you.
I have a -1, can I "help" Lae instead?
-We are all just one failed saving throw away from someone else's fantasy...
Yes. Lae, roll persuasion with advantage.
Persuasion: 9
That was with advantage?

Intimidation: 13.
Err... We probably should've tried to stay on their good side. We may not get in at all, now.
