Fineas cackles with laughter at Melody's witty comment that she whispered in his ear. He runs his hand over his smooth beadless chin thinking that these brutish thugs seemed very skilled in the ways of mayhem and violence. Such skills will come in handy in the coming days no doubt. Very handy if the mistress has something to say about it, and she always has something to say.
Finias watches them at work, doing what they do best, what they enjoy... the cowardly little dwarf is impressed with their blood thirsty natures... masters of the arts of death, natural born killers. Poor Fineas, his skills and talents lay in other areas that Melody finds useful. Given the diverse nature of the group, working together they could prove an unstoppable force. The dwarf whispers back to his mistress, "yes indeed my Snapdragon, these gentlemen have talent and skills that you can well put to use."
"Goblins....EVIL Creatures...a good sacrifice. The women we can question later."
Larry raises his hand and shapes his fingers into the shape of a claw, uttering a word in a fiendish tongue.....A demonic hand attempts to clamp down on the goblins .
ooc: Can't remember if we roll initiative or not....will be boarding a plane soon and might not be able to post for 18 hours or so....
Initiative 19
Attack roll,
Chill touch: 7 damage: 6
If second target within 5 feet of first, second Chill touch attack on new target: 20 damage: 2
The group strides forward into the clearing, drawing weapons and spell foci. The woman seems to skid to a halt, terrified of both the goblins and these alien people that have arrived out of nowhere.
Okay, so here's how I deal with initiative.
I will roll a list of everyone's initiative so we don't have to wait for everyone to post an initiative check.
Once I've posted a separate post with the initiative, people can post their turns if they are before the next monster. In the Example below, PCs 1, 2, and 3 can post. PC 1 PC 3 PC 2 MONSTER PC 4 PC 5 PC 6
You have 24 hours to post your turn from when it gets to your collective turns. If you do not post for your turn, I will assume control of your character and utilise them appropriately for the encounter. If you don't post for 2 of your turns, I will autopilot them until you post again in the thread.
Larry (30/30 HP) Giacomo (24/24 HP) Finias (27/27 HP)
Damsel (Uninjured)
Logi (17/17 HP) Maxwell (28/28 HP)
END OF ROUND
Scenario: The damsel has skidded to a halt, about 10 feet away from the group as they stride out. The goblin group appears to be slowing down their chase now that the numbers have changed, currently about 25 feet away from the party.
ooc: Depends on the DM's call, but I imagine that we might get a surprise round (in that we are closing the gap between us and the goblins, or for ranged combatants, letting something fly before the combat rounds actually begin).
(Just going into normal combat. No one specifically noted that they were attempting to sneak up to the goblins, and this is basically just after you step up from the bank. Also this is just a warm-up and setup to see how you guys will want to play this out; goblins are just fodder for most people.)
Melody rolls her eyes in Larry’s general direction. With a wry smile, she speaks, “Evil? Good? I’m the girl with the crossbow.“ Melody raises her weapon, and points it toward the group of goblins. Then suddenly swings to the side and squeezes the trigger, popping a bolt off toward the Damsel. ”Whoops.” Melody says, deadpan, giving Larry a dirty look.
The crossbow bolt goes hurtling towards the damsel, striking her in the gut. She grunts and recoils, not dead, but badly wounded. (Damsel: 5 damage)
The goblins, confused at the attack of Melody, look to one another, saying something in goblin. Unfortunately no one in the group speaks goblin, as the apparent leader raises his spear again, the goblins following suit as they rush forward a little bit (5 feet closer). They hurl their spears at the strangers, apparently angered for some reason. (1 attack per person) They then pull their second spear from a quiver at their belt, out of new ammo.

Giacomo, Larry, Logi, and Melody find a spear striking into them, doing some moderate wounds for such little angry goblins. (Giacomo: 19/24 HP, Larry: 24/30 HP, Logi: 9/17 HP, Melody: 21/24 HP)
INITIATIVE TRACKER
Larry (24/30 HP) Giacomo (19/24 HP) Finias (27/27 HP)
As the Damsel drops to the ground, Melody squeals with delight, doing a little victory shimmy. Her joy is quickly ended as a spear bites into her thigh. “OWW! Stupid goblins! I’m trying to help you!” Melody screams at the little creatures, prying the spear out of her skin.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Goblins were 25 feet and moved forward another 5 feet to hurl spears, so 20 feet away?
Note: I also fixed my AC to include the Dual Wielder +1 AC bonus.
Giacomo, rushes forward, feels the bolt fly past him and watches it strike the damsel. Flustered by the nearness of the shot, Giacomo looks back at Melody only to get struck by the thrown spears from the goblins. Angered by the lapse of focus, Giacomo returns his attention to the battle and rushes forward (positioning to enter the area of influence of as few goblins as possible) to strike a blow:
Attack: 8 Damage: 5
Giacomo then crouches low in a defensive posture, short sword poised to parry, long sword poised to strike. (1 ki point for Patient Defense)
The goblin dances out of the way of Giacomo's strike. It appears his focus is lacking right now, perhaps the strong heat of this place is putting him off.
Larry raises his hand and shapes his fingers into the shape of a claw, uttering a word in a fiendish tongue.....A demonic hand attempts to clamp down on the goblins .
Chill Touch Attack.
Attack: 16 Damage 7
Reaper: If two goblins are within 5 feet of each other a Chill touch attack on the second goblin.
Attack: 15 Damage 1
I"m ok to use my previous rolls / posting for the attack....I had meant to do that due to travel and not hold up combat...
Finias howls in anger as the goblins dare to attack and threaten his precious mistress, the dwarf jester responds to their arrogance by castingMagic Missile directing two glowing darts 4 damage and3damage at the goblin attacking Melody and one glowing dart2 damage to the goblin attacking himself (Finias) followed by rather rude hand-gesture!
Larry conjures a pair of skeletal hands that grasp onto the heads of the goblins, making them screech in pain. One of the goblins collapses, its life drained, the other appears to be having a bad time, but isn't dead. (Goblin #1: defeated, 7 damage. Goblin #2: 1 damage.)
Finias creates three bolts of magical energy. Two strike into the goblin who attacked his Melody, knocking it over as blood splatters from where the blasts struck its head. (Goblin #6: defeated. 7 damage.), the third bolt would've gone at the one that attack Finias, but Larry already dealt with that one. It hurls into the goblin beside it instead. (Goblin #2: 3 damage)
The Damsel, staggering on her feet, attempts to flee to the right, out from the battlefield between the party and the goblins. She gets to about 20 feet away and collapses onto her knees, blood spilling from the point blank crossbow bolt wound.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grimacing at the expanding red patch currently staining his shirt, Logi takes a moment to take a few steps away from the crowd of goblins. Turning after that time, his face scrunching in concentration, unleashes a scorching ray, sending three beams of searing red heat towards three goblins in clear sight.
Logi hurls three motes of fire. The goblins, seeing the flames arcing over towards them, begin to duck. One, however, is unable to in time, their face melting as they collapse backward (Goblin #5: defeated. 7 damage)
Seeing Melody shoot the unknown girl, Maxwell can only think of it as a foolish move. They find themselves in an unknown land and she fires at the first person they could have questioned about where they were. "Why don't you try and not kill the girl please, we need someone we can question about where we are." Rushing forward, Maxwell draws his longsword and swings it at goblin 2.
Attack: 16 Damage: 6

“Spirit. In every language in all the Realms, surface and Underdark, in every time and every place, the word has a ring of strength and determination. It is the hero's strength, the mother's resilience and the poor man's armor. It cannot be broken and it cannot be taken away.”
Exhaling deeply, Melody tunes out the others as they battle the goblins. She casually tosses her crossbow back over her shoulder, oblivious to the circumstances. Lowering her hood, she drops it and the cloak to the ground, leaving only the veil. Pulling up the hem of her skirt, she removes a dagger from her garter before skipping toward the Damsel, singing softly as she moves.
”Wearing lace, cut your face, that’s my style...”
As she reaches the Damsel, Melody throws a leg over her supine form and drops down, straddling her chest. Leaning down, Melody puts the dagger between the Damsel’s lips and whispers.
”Where are we? Who are you? Why are the goblins chasing you? Talk fast. Am jittery. All those boys seem cranky and are making me feel unpleasant.”
Melody smiles beneath her veil, ready to slice the Damsel’s mouth open wide at the first sign of struggle.
Finias looks on at his Mistress in shock and surprise... wondering to himself what has caused her to become so reckless and bloodthirsty not the cunning, sharply intelligent and scheming creature he had come to know and adore. What is her angle, what is to be gained by killing her out of hand for nothing?
The dwarf jester looks towards the Aasimar with confusion thinking the Paladin had a valid point, who knows where they have washed ashore, for all they know that female has a tribe or a people about... why kill her out of hand when a local could be very helpful to them. "Mistress!" Finias calls out, "what are you doing, that one has more value to us alive rather than dead?"
