Devin grabs his shield and staff as they unload from Golem. The shield is a small metal buckler with a blue star of Mystra on it. He leaves his pack on the wagon. He then follows a few feet behind Torunn and Jaylen.
Eyeing the animals, Jaylen asks, "Does anyone know what kind of people live here? There were lots of tracks heading in and out of the village. Half our size and half smaller." She then squints a little at what the dog-like creatures are feasting upon.
Torunn looks at Jaylen, "Couldnt tell you to be honest. I don't know much about these mainland villages." Then he turns and looks at the animals in the village square, "Let's deal with those when we have to."
Once he has said his piece, Torunn and turns and starts to head to the building in the north west of the village.
9.45am, Day 3, First Ten-day, Month of Eleasis (High Sun) in the Year 1494 ‘The Year of Twelve Warnings’
Torunn turns and heads off to the large wooden building just inside the gate on the north side that is about 30 feet away from the Gate Towers. As he gets closer he realises, if he was not already aware, that it is the source of the ringing sound the party has been hearing ever since it entered the village. The building has a slender steeple containing a large bronze bell, which is swinging wildly back and forth, and stained glass windows depicting images of birth, the dawning sun, trees, and unicorns. It would appear to be a temple jointly dedicated to Lathander and Mielikki. As Toruun approaches he can see that the front door to the temple is wide open …
OOC: Not sure if some, all or none of the party have followed Toruun, clarification would be much appreciated.

Devin continues to follow Torunn as he enters the palisade walls. He drops back several feet and takes up a rear guard position. He watches behind them as they walk keeping an eye on the creature they saw in case it notices them and moves their way.
D.O.R.K is following suit, but is too intent on keeping an eye on the dog-like creatures as they carried on to the temple. At the first sign of aggression out of the creature, she remains ready to launch her javelin at the closest one before drawing her axe. Once they were what she deemed a comfortable distance from the creatures, she says, "Possibility of Halflings and gnomes evacuation... Twenty-Six Percent. There would be bodies by now." She claims. "However, I too have had not the chance to study many of the mainland's specific towns. Only those reported to have been the site of unique or significant conflicts." D.O.R.K admits.

Jaylen watches the others approach the church, but her eyes are drawn back to the dog creatures and their feast. After praying for guidance, the cleric approaches as quietly as she can to see what it is they're eating.
Seeing Jaylen move forward towards the beasts in the center of the village Devin stops walking and readies a Fire Bolt, prepared to strike at one of them if they attack.
Jaylen continues to move stealthily towards the feeding creatures. When she reaches the edge of the square (three rounds later) and is 60 feet away she can see that the dog like creatures are ripping apart the carcass of a small dog. Meanwhile the rest of the party is back at the Temple.
Once the close on the temple doors, D.O.R.K puts away her javelin and pats Torunn on the shoulder, biding him quietly to let her take point. If he acquiesces, she steps up to lead the way inside, drawing 'Heart Breaker' as she went inside. Of those that wandered off, she paid no mind, or more accurately wasn't aware. Her sole focus was on stepping inside first and looking for immediate threats, and then ushers the others inside after.
That was the plan, at least.

It takes D.O.R.K. about a round to move across the grass to the front door of the Temple, which she does whilst Jaylen is moving forward to the edge of the square. As she peers into the high-vaulted chamber which forms the front part of the Temple, the mid-morning sunlight streams through the four stained-glass windows set into the north and south walls. Beneath the windows are plain wooden benches for the elderly or infirm to sit on. Interestingly the floor of the Temple is dirt. Standing against the back wall (west) is a wooden pulpit with steps leading up to it. Set into the west wall, north of the pulpit, is a half-open door.

From where she is standing on the edge of what is obviously the Village Square, Jaylen can see that the large building to north is obviously the Village Inn, the sign above the door depicting an arrow broken in half is probably a give-away as to what it might be called. The next building around in a clockwise direction is obviously a Livery Stable and finally the other large building in the south-east corner is some sort of General Store / Trading Post. She can also see two small farmhouses with attached fields that are fenced with drystone walls. In the centre of the square she can see a deep hole where something obviously once stood.

"Continuing Investigation. Keep close in case of lingering magical impediment."She says as she makes her way over to the half-open door and peeks inside, battleaxe still at the ready.

As D.O.R.K., closely followed by Toruun, makes her way over to the half-open door and peeks inside, Battle-axe still at the ready, she sees that this backroom was obviously the priest’s bedroom. The mattress on the plain wooden bed has been torn open and its straw pulled out. The floor is strewn with the contents of two wooden chests: priestly vestments and worthless personal effects and two sacks. The creatures responsible for the disarray are two Goblins gleefully swinging on a knotted rope that hangs from the bell in the steeple.
Next to the Temple, you can see the Village Graveyard. Narrow footpaths meander among the graves, most of which are marked with granite headstones. A couple of these markers were destroyed when a giant rock fell on them. In the northeast corner stands an crypt.
D.O.R.K eyes immediately turn red seeing the goblins. "I will engage them for answers. In the event that they prove feral or not forthcoming, capture them. If they resist, break their legs."She whispers back to Torunn. She steps forth without awaiting a reply, and steps up to the goblins. Aside from the first few steps, no effort is made to quiet her foot steps past that point.
"Goblinoid Vandals. Cease and Desist your activities. We have queries. Answer them, and your punishment will be lenient. Do not--" She raises her shield and axe for a guarded(Dodge) position. "--and you will not like the results. You have been warned. It is your move, creeps."
