Seeing that his first attack missed, Duncan focused his thoughts, I must not let my arrogance get the better of me. Placing the blade's fuller rest on his left arm, Duncan held the blade to his eye level the point aimed at his enemy. With a quick step forward, Duncan thrust the blade forward finding it's mark right into the gremlins throat. Cutting off it's cries of pain until it had died with blood spewing from it's neck. Pulling the blade back to the ready stance he turned towards the next gremlin, blade in the upper stance as before.

Azi does a quick step back, and then launches into a flurry of kicks towards the gremlin. Unfortunately, the gremlin ducks just as Azi commits to going high. He will land with his staff in hand looking a little miffed that he missed.
The aethengines purr as Elto comes with another strike, almost inhumanly cutting through the gremlin, he quickly flicks the blade back around for another swing as the aethengines help him guide the blade back. Seeing this, Duncan capitalizes on the opportunity, finished the gremlin. Aether surges through Elto and heals some of the chinks and gashes in his infrastructure.
The gremlins strike back, focusing on Azi, as the fallen one continues to sleep. Both of their swipes strike air, as Azi dodges the attacks gracefully.
Turning to the one behind him, Azi whips out with his staff barely missing the gremlin. But then he slams his staff into the ground and uses it to propel himself forward into a kick to the chest, followed with an ending elbow to the face.
OOC: deals a total of 10 damage to G4. AC is now back to 16.
Lero, secure in the seat with the controls in front of him, attempts to stabilize the quickly descending Aethership, "Come on, baby... don't fail me now." He can't help but hope that others have rushed in to the engine room to dispatch the goblins. He heard some commotion from that area, but he could only guess how it's going in there. "Ahlrim," he says, keeping his focus on the landscape ahead, "Go to the cargo and bring as much Aether-fuel as you can to the engine room. I think we're going to have to do something drastic to save the Rising Aether."
She steps to the right and forward so she can get a swing at the closest gremlin (G6). She misses this one as well and thinks she should have stayed in the lab where crazy things like this did not happen. Maybe she would have better luck sticking the one responsible for somehow getting these things on board without anyone noticing. They sure weren't in here yesterday. They had to have been in cargo crates.

Namura sprinted over to the next sleeping gremlin (g5), and swung at it with both short swords. She sunk both swords deep into its chest cavity, skewering it like a kebab. (44 damage total for both attacks.)
The elf scanned the room, looking to see where she would be most helpful. "Is the rest of the ship under attack?" She called out to everyone else.
Seeing that the ship is really in danger of crashing and don't wanting to return to the Aether as readily as a crash portray, Kraithee looks at the the Gremlin still awake and behind the engine and marks it as its new target.
Moving to stand onto the Gremlin that Elto killed (G1) and get a better view at its target, Kraithee extend its hands: Aether, guide my attack! I must not miss this critter! Cast Magic Missile at G4 damage 3d4+3 (all rays at the same target) = 12.
Elto charges forward to the wounded gremlin, and swings at it twice. "I calculate a very high probability you will die now." Mid-swing, the ship lurches to the side, bringing him off balance and causing both of his attacks to just miss the gremlin. "I did not calculate that happening."
With nowhere to run and surrounded on all sides, the remaining two gremlins fight to the death. Both strike at Azi in unison, and while Azi is able to dodge G4's attack, G6's claws rake into his back (7 points of damage).
Buama, now able to find a way closer to the engine and aether storage unit starts a quick assessment of the damage. She can only repair a bit at a time so quickly calculates what she should try first hoping mending will give them a little more time in the air to land more safely.
She pulls out two lodestones from one of the many pockets on her pants. Muttering to herself she ducks down trying to make sure something keeps her out of site of the occupied gremlins as much as possible. Some of her muttering includes calculations as the lodestones in her hand start slowly glowing. The initial reaction of the tear she is working on is of the sides seeming to pull back together, but the rip is still able to leak aether as it very slowly closes. Her hands stay firm with the lodestones on the area she is mending while she has her feet planted to hopefully keep herself steady in the turbulence. It would take a minute to get just this hole mended and there were THREE in the aether storage unit!

Duncan's focus granted him the mindset needed to cut down the final gremlin. Frustrated, the party looks around, as the feeling hits them that there's a good chance they are all going to die. While not noticed during the battle, the ship has been falling faster and faster, plummeting down into the forest of Peema below. While the engine is intact, the gremlins have all but destroyed the aether storage device, as concentrated refined aether slowly leaks out into the air from the flayed device. Buama's work can only repair small parts of the A.S.D., and would require the hands and tools of an experienced artificer to repair it completely... if the ship even survived the crash. With minimal amounts of aether reaching the engine, Lero can do little to pilot the ship away from its impending doom.
A renegade with a portable aether storage device, stealing aether from the Consulate.
As you take in the situation, Alhrim, the redshirt back-up pilot, comes crashing into the room with two intricate golden "backpacks", glowing with aether from within. You recognize them as portable aether storage devices, and while they can't power an entire ship, they are used to power aether-infused devices commonly used by those of higher ranking in Ghirapur. His eyes goes wide as he sees the aether-tinted blood of the gremlins sprayed across the clothes of the adventurers, walls, floor, and ceiling. He sees Elto in the corner with his impressive greatsword, who goes to hide it behind his back immediately. "This isn't what it looks like, Alhrim." Ignoring Elto, he shouts out, "Hey! Lero's got a plan to save the ship!"
As the sounds of battle end, Lero spots Ahlrim passing by with a pair of portable aether storage devices. Elto will hate the odds of this working, but Lero has done maneuvers like this before and he knows the trick. A full-power thrust at the last minute followed by stabilized guidance when near the surface might just save the ship from total destruction. First things first, he needed the engines shut down.
"Buama, Flux, Elto! I'm going to need you to shut the engines down on my mark!" He yells these instructions as loud as he can, "Everyone else needs to strap themselves down and brace for impact!! Once the engines are shut down, we'll be falling at terminal velocity." Sweat is pouring down Lero's face, "I'll keep the Rising Aether level and target the thrusters for takeoff. While we're falling you will need to pump as much aether into the engines as you can! And on my second mark you will have to start them by any means necessary. Do you hear me?? The first mark will be in 30 seconds!"
Buama can barely hear Lero and cups her hand to hear. Seeing the packs and getting enough of the idea she yells back, "Got it! Make sure you yell louder for the stop and start timing!"
She shoves her lodestones back in their pocket and moves to the controls for the engine. She looks over the impressive engine quickly noting she has an idea how to make it work, but turns her gaze to Elto.
"You have 30 seconds to make sure Flux and I know how to help you do this shut down. I pretty much know what is here, but am impressed by a few things I haven't seen before."
She grabs ahold of the engine with one hand to handle the turbulence and has her other hand poised to touch the controls assigned to her for the shutdown and startup. She isn't the type to pray, but she was sure hoping they could shut it down right and get enough aether in during the free fall before restart. She does not like the odds, but doing nothing calculated to something unacceptable.
Ahlrim hands off the portable A.S.D.s to Buama before rushing off. "Captain says we'll need more power. We've got two more of these."
Hearing Lero's shout, Elto's eyes go wide as he hangs his head. "Lero is going to try this? Without me giving him prior calculations!? We're doomed!" He stands motionless for several seconds. His head snaps up, and he exclaims, "There is a small probability this will work. And the probability of us surviving without trying this is zero. Looks like I'll have to trust Lero on this one." He rushes over to a lever and the background humming noise disappears as the engine shuts off. Moving over to Buama, he responds, "You know, we usually do this when we're on the run from Consulate flagships. Not when our primary aether source has been compromised." He laments, "Why do gremlins have to exist?" Grabbing hold of a lever, he pulls on it, and you hear a loud clang coming from the aether storage device. "Now we won't have any aether escape out of the backside." He pulls out a something akin to a railroad spike, and plunges it through the pipe several times, creating four holes. "While the nozzles normally are used to withdraw aether from Consulate resources..." He grabs a nozzle to demonstrate. "... if you move the switch back three clicks, you can use it to deposite the aether in the storage device into whatever the nozzle is connected to. In this case, these four holes. I'll need you, Buama, Flux, and two more volunteers to begin pumping aether into the engine. Azi, it sounds like you want to be one of them, so please join." By this time, Alhrim has returned with the remaining two portable A.S.D.s. "Wonderful. Please get started if you wish to live."
Exhausted, Alhrim continues to do his best and runs to the deck to inform everyone of what is going on. He passes Arial, whose eyes go wide when she looks into the aether engine room. "I'll ask later if we survive." Sprinting, she runs to the control deck, pushing by two of the dark crew members who are running to strap themselves in on the main table. Joining up with Lero, she fastens into the seat and gets caught up on his plan.
