I have been skimming the forum for some information like the tavern and such. Man this was a goldmine when we had it going. So much good RP and creative juices flowing. I look forward to seeing that again.
After getting back, Lucian wants to start working on getting the bar functioning autonomously. Ideally making some upgrades and using it as a source of income
With Kherek back, Lucian is content letting him run the business and being more of a background owner, helping with whatever negotiations need to be done. With the death of Nijal, the only people who own stake in the bar are Gary, Lucian, and Kherek. So whatever profits after upkeep would be split 3 ways.
In terms of magic items, the ring of spell storing and the Condemner Crossbow are up for grabs.
In terms of random valuables I have 1350gp worth of candelabras and etc from Barovia. Not including whatever gold pieces were found.
After talking to the shady merchant guy, Titus would say...
"He seemed nice... oh well! Let's get the tiny boat and go. Mr. Eli sure whined a lot considering we did his job for him, and I'm ready to help the Lizard guys. They didn't stab me, so they must be nice."
Redmaw glances back towards the merchant then to his comrades and with a grin he says,
"We will have to keep him in mind if we come across any other merchant vessels..."
Dropping the grin Redmaw gets a somewhat somber look about him and continues,
"Now as for the whiner, we will never see eye to eye with that man. Not as long as he is in the employ of the Lords Alliance and driven by their ideals and his own sense of duty. Feeling he has lived up to all that means enough to him that he would risk his life for those ideals. We on the other hand don't have a nice salary, cushy office, and town's guard worth of lackeys to commit to our ideals and duties. We have to risk our lives just to eat, travel, and have somewhere to sleep when in town. He will never understand why we won't just automatically go beyond the scope of whatever job he has put us on and we will never reliably go beyond the scope of a job he has put us on. He will expect it and we will want to know if it is worth risking our lives. A Captain of the Guard type like him sees dying in the line of duty as a honorable death. But is it really? Or is it just a way for him to control his own fear and the fears of his men when faced with death?"
After a brief pause Redmaw begins to chuckle to himself almost uncontrollably the rest of the walk to the shipwright.
As we were sailing South from the lizardfolk camp to Saltmarsh Redmaw gathered up the party away from their passengers.
"I have realized that as the Captain of this vessel and any others we might sail ourselves, we are missing something very important that every good crew needs in order to survive together."
Redmaw glances between the party members and continues on,
"A ship is not held together by the just the Captain or just the crew or just the officers of a ship but by a charter, a code, an agreement of sorts. As the officers of this outfit are all present I believe this to be the appropriate time to scribe such a charter. As Captain I will first take volunteers and then nominations for First Mate, Quartermaster, Boatswain and Deck Mage. If no one wants to volunteer or nominate another then I nominate Mr. Titus, Mr. Sawyer, Mr. Ellis, and Mr. Sig as First Mate, Quartermaster, Boatswain and Deck Mage respectively. Now as we are the officers of this outfit it is our responsibility to each come up with a tenet that will be the guiding principles that all members of this crew must follow regardless of rank or station in everything we do. I encourage you to think about the things that will keep us alive, safeguard our reputations and die a good death without regrets."
After pausing for a moment Redmaw adds one last thing as his coat billows about him just as he steps out onto the deck,
"Consider what is most important to you as well when thinking about your tenets."
Ellis always appreciated displays of earnest and it was apparent Redmaw could be depended upon to supply them with frequency.
He hadn't really thought a lot about tenets or guiding principles as that's the kind of thing that drove him to this ambulatory lifestyle in the first place; a wanderer from the familiar hollers of his boyhood home.
Those man-made shackles of honor interested him little.
But he felt a kinship with these men. They were equal part zealot and miscreant, but it kept things interesting, and it seemed unlikely a few pretty words pregnant with meaning could do much to eschew their hi-jinx.
"I just wanna plant my bodhi, see cool shit, and make friends with some woodland creatures."
After a long drag lost in thought, he added "and I guess I ought to find out what a Bosun is"
Redmaw nods his head as he contemplates what Ellis said,
"Each vessel large enough to be crewed will maintain an ample amount of bodhi plants to supply the crew as necessary while at sea. All officers and crew shall tend, protect and nurture the onboard bodhi plants as well as permit any crew member who discovers some wonder of the world, known or unknown, an appropriate amount of time to witness such wonders as permitted by the crews current situation of supplies and conflict. If the crew is unable to witness said spectacle at the given time, all efforts will be made to chart an accurate location and return at a later time. While both at sea and in port the officers and crew will make every effort to live in balance with nature and befriend its inhabitants."
Redmaw looks to Ellis with a questioning expression,
Redmaw nods in earnest agreement listening to Titus,
"Every officer and crewman is their own master and encouraged to take action even in the absence of orders from ranking officers. Standing orders for all crew are to defend their fellow crew members and our interests as a whole against any who would wish us harm. Before taking new deckhands they must affirm they are willing to give their life for the life of a fellow crewman. If any crew member, including officers, is found to be not prepared to give his life in the protection of his fellows then he will be relieved of all duties and be let off the ship at the next civilized port with no more than the personal possessions he brought aboard. If said deckhand is found guilty of cowardice resulting in the death of another, they will receive no less punishment than walking the plank at sea."
"No Mr. Sig I doubt I would ever have to make you walk the plank. Hopefully we can avoid it all together otherwise we were unwise when bringing new crew onboard and we would be mourning the loss of one of our own."
A quick grin passes across Redmaw's face as he tries to hid it,
"Admittedly though it is quite the spectacle and for some reason does wonders for morale. What about you Mr. Sig? What reasons might you feel were deserving of making a man walk the plank into the Wavemother's cold embrace?"

These are the fully upgraded tavern rooms:
taproom: 200
kitchen: 200
Lavatory: 200
cellar: 400
office: 200
= 1200gd total
How much can we realistically update the bar?
What would it cost?
How much did the bar make while we were away?

And that crown we found in the chest upstairs. I have no clue how much that is worth
The crown was worth 2500gp. You also had 10,000gp in Strahd money that converts to 7500gp in Waterdeep.
Don't forget to account for Chen in your stock/ownership accounts. It may become relevant.
I thought Chen didn't care about the bar and forfeited his shares? My apologies
(7500+2500+1350)/5 = 2270
That gives each of the 5 Adventurers that dealt with Strahd 2270gp.

"How does that sound?"
Titus would say:
"We should be our own masters, and let Tymora handle the rest. I want our adventures to inspire others to be better, nicer, and happier.
Not acting leads to bad luck, and I won't sit around doing nothing when there's something I can do to help.
You are my friends, and I will die fighting before I let the Beshaba take you away.
Red, you tell me what I need to do and I will do it as best as I can. I'll leave the planning to you guys."
"Beshaba? Bosun? Did one of yall steal the B dictionary?"
"Yes, Beshaba. She is Lady Doom, the bringer of misfortune. I fought a cult of her's just before I met you all. They didn't like me much..."
Redmaw nods in earnest agreement listening to Titus,
