Gremryl’s first attack slams into the ground after all of the snakes scattered to avoid being squashed. They regroup quickly.

Elmo slices and dices his way through the Swarm of Spiders and deals heavy damage, reducing their numbers considerably. There’s not a spider in the swarm that doesn’t both fear and loathe the Halfling Rogue...

To mikey: “ this sticks thingys remind me of my morning stars! Funny I used to be able to use both of mine at the same time, but one day I woke up and couldn’t wield them like I used too.. almost as if..” he ducks a spider
With no regard for time or wherewith-all of their true mission, the adventurers continue squashing Spiders, Centipedes and Snakes. Another Swarm of Spiders and Swarm of Centipedes have been crushed into oblivion.
The snakes, sensing blood from the Ranger’s toe, dart forward and attack Rowland, dealing a critical 17 points of damage!
Rowland feels the paralyzing effects of the snake's venom beginning to course through his veins. It stings at first, then slowly begins to numb his body...Rowland takes 14 damage!
Gremryl's first attack smashes into a pile of snakes that have coiled around themselves foolishly and turn them into snake pulp. Pleased with his first attack, Gremryl is a little less careful with his second attack and with his mighty swing, loosens his grip on Moradin's Benevolence and with all the snake guts and spider goo making it hard to hold on, it slips out of his hands, crashing into Mikey's shell for 2 points of damage! Gremryl readies an excuse for Mikey before the Tortle can turn around...
It’s been many long months since our adventurers escaped their imprisonment at the Drop outpost of Velkynvelve, commanded by Mistress Ilvara Mizzrym, of House MizzrymAfter, fifth Drow House of Menzoberranzan.Six prisoners escaped together, Gremryl Stonebreaker, a Dwarf Paladin from Citadel Adbar, Elmo Lightpocket, a Halfling Rogue, Morgana, a Tiefling Sorceress from the Underdark, a drowse trainer named Sarith, a curious little myconid creature named Stool, desperately trying to return to his home of Neverlight Grove, a passive kuo-toa named Shuushar, accepting of his fate yet eager to return to his village of Sloobludop and Buppido, a roguish derro of which not much was known.
Making their way first to the kuo-toa’s home, the three adventurers having escaped their fates as slaves to the wicked drow, witnessed a horrific scene unfolding before them in that small village of Sloobludop. But not before encountering many creatures of the Underdark, leading to the death of their drow companion, Sarith. Also before arriving, Buppido had mysteriously disappeared from the group, only to be seen again in the duergar city of Gracklstugh…
From out of the Darklake, none other than the Prince of Demons himself, Demogorgon arose to mercilessly slaughter the villagers and cause massive swathes of destruction in his wake.Gremryl, Elmo and Morgana barely escaped with their minds, much less their bodies intact, making a new ally in the process.Hemeth Holderhek, a prominent duergar of Gracklstugh, who had been captured by the kua-toa and was to be sacrificed to the kua-toa gods, was saved by an unlikely dwarf by the name of Gremryl, whose hatred of the duergar almost ended their burgeoning alliance before it started.Shuushar, while trying to catch up to the group, was left behind and viciously torn apart by creatures of the Darklake as Morgana heartlessly pressed on with little regard for the kuo-toa ally.
From here, a long journey to Stool’s home of Neverlight Grove ensued and along the way, an odd new ally was made in the form of a self-aware, gelatinous cube who called himself Glabbagool.Little did the adventurers fathom, that this creature became aware of his conscious from the far-reaching influence of one of the Demon Lords that now threatens the Underdark if not Faerun itself.Having no recollection of his sentience, Glabbagool joined the adventurers to further his insatiable desire for knowledge of the world around him and beyond the ancient tomb that he’d known only of.
Arriving in Neverlight Grove was not to be the salvation that our adventurers had hoped for. After helping the local Myconid leaders unravel the demonic plans threatening the grove’s way of life, they learned and even looked upon yet another great Demon of the Abyssal Plane - Zuggtmoy, Queen of Fungi and the Lady of Rot and Decay herself!
Narrowly escaping a tragic end as slaves to the Demon Queen, the adventurers make way for the duergar city of Gracklstugh. On their way, they meet a captured elf rogue by the name of Elhutz. His companionship is ill-fated and the treatment of their new would-be ally led to his unforeseen departure from the group. Not before stealing all of the gold from the group, and leaving them with a mysterious box. When the group attempted to open the box, their minds were pulled into another plane and only with the help of those not having touched the box were they saved from their trance.
Along the way, they also met with another drow-captured prisoner…a human cleric by the name of Leon.Treating this new ally with much more respect, as deserving of his great strength and wisdom, the group pressed forward, never having been stronger than they were at that moment.
An emotional scene transpired in the depths of the Underdark that led Hemeth to break from the group, utterly fed-up with Morgana’s immaturity.Elmo decided to follow Hemeth to Gracklstugh while the others continued along together.
Having arrived at Gracklstugh a ten-day before the others, Elmo fancied himself a proper life of drinking and debauchery. Not forgetting his friends, however, he provided much of the coin necessary to fashion a magnificent shield for Gremryl out of his broken Morningstar.Hemeth provided the means to attain such a work of duergar armor craft and did so with every good intention toward his dwarf comrade in arms.
Prior to their arrival at the gates of Gracklstugh, the other group, led by Gremryl and Leon, parted ways with Glabbagool as he could not cross the Silken Paths due to his enormous weight. It was in their travels along these spidery webs, that Leon made bonds with a legendary and long-forgotten, sentient weapon by the name of Dawnbringer. Her true past is still a mystery, however the powerful sun blade she enables her wielder to hold has proven valuable beyond measure already.
Meeting a firm gate-guard and foolishly challenging the defenses of the duergar’s greatest city, Gremryl is brutally beaten down, albeit putting up a magnificent fight to gain entry for his comrades. To the shock and heartbreak of the others, Morgana, a slave to her own pride and arrogance, finds herself ripped apart, limb from limb, as she provokes the guards overwhelming her.
Now taken as prisoners inside the city walls, they’re met with an opportunity to gain favor from the captain of the Stone Guard, and it’s their good fortune to also run into Hemeth and Elmo in this exact time and place! With luck back on their shoulders, and rest for the weary on the minds of the adventurers just arriving, Hemeth takes them all back to his father’s manse, where a hot bath and fresh meats are provided as comforts.
Before arriving at Hemeth’s residence, the female captain of the Stone Guards, Errde Blackskull charges the adventurers with finding the whereabouts of a derro by the name of Droki...bringing him back dead or alive is an option, however failure is not as Errde promises they shall never leave this great city alive if that is the final results of their efforts.
Dinner at the Holderhek manse is far from boring as Hemeth’s father, Lord Holderhek outlines his greatest designs to form an alliance of the Underdark civilizations, right under the nose of the ruling DeepKing Horgar Steelshadow V and the Drow Houses of Menzoberranzan. There are Demon Lords roaming the Underdark and the need for joining forces has never been more dire, according to Lord Holderhek.
It is through this plan that the adventurers meet up with two more would-be allies.Rowland Black, a cunning human ranger more familiar with the Underdark than any other in the room, and a very rare Tortle monk by the name of Mikey, who claims to be from another dimension, having been sucked through a portal and finding himself trapped, looking for a way home.
Some of the adventurers make way for the Wyrmsmith of Gracklstugh, Themberchaud, whose flames keep the great forges ablaze, and the city alive with industry. There, the group uncovers the mystery of the box which belonged to Rowland’s father long ago, and it’s contents - a spell gem capable of bringing back to life a person long-dead, with the right materials. Also, a great undertaking as Themberchaud’s agents, to uncover what his ‘captives’, the Keepers of the Flame are keeping secret from him. It’s clear that his unrest for his current position grows dangerously…
Having uncovered the hideout of the derro, Droki, all of the adventurers now find themselves exploring the expansive tunnels and at the moment, waging a merciless war against seemingly endless swarms of spiders, centipedes ands snakes…earning valuable experience, at the expense of losing sight of the reason they’ve ventured here in the first place…
"Lads, it seems we lost sight of what we was to be doing down here lads.. might be we push forward! I'm not for standing around and crushing critters, smashing spidey's and stabbing snakes and all...but as me pa would say 'take to long and the forge goes dark...'"
