Isk moves 5 feet around the creature to make some space between him and Reverie. His eyes turn into black pools as tendrils of shadowy energy lash out around him, whipping and grabbing everything within 10 feet (Arms of Hadar)
The undead needs to make a DC 14 strength save. On a fail they take 14 damage and are unable to take reactions. They take half damage on a save. If the undead fails his save, Isk will step away 15 feet.
Jack gives Reverie bardic inspiration. Jack, Trim, and Froskan are still affected by the Fear spell. (OOC - This is the nastiest Fear spell I've seen so far.)
The undead takes 7 damage from the Arms of Hadar (resistance to necrotic damage). Isk moves 15 feet away from it.
Reverie is still up, and has Jack's d6 bardic inspiration. (Can decide after seeing the to-hit roll if you want to use it. Or apply it for damage. If she does a melee attack, she still has a spell slot for a possible Divine Smite.)

Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
(On Reverie's character sheet, using a 1st level spell will give Divine Smite 2d8 + 1d8 for the target being undead. Rolling additional 2d8: 5 )
Reverie feels a burning rage at seeing most of her party affected by the undead's Fear, and a surge of adrenaline at Jack's words. The scimitar strike includes a bard-inspired radiant flare (20 damage total), and the undead is struck down.
Combat is over.
Jack, Trimyrai, and Froskan join the others inside the chamber. Poking at the remains of the undead, you recognize warlocks whose service to Talona is forced even after death: a deathlock and a deathlock wight.
Going to the table, you see a set of unopened books, very fancy and well made, with bindings and locks. The deathlocks were trying to open them, without success. (Make either an Arcana or Religion check, to know more.)

Reverie recognizes some of the symbols on the books. It is for Oghma, god of knowledge, bards, and inspiration (foe of Bane). Not something you would expect minions of Talona to be carrying around.
Isk (with a bit of help from Trim) sees that the books are mystically locked and warded. Attempts to unlock it will be difficult & potentially lethal to those trying to open them. The deathlocks were trying to use mystical tools to bypass the wards, without success when you interrupted them.
(OOC: I don't think anyone is proficient in thieves' tools, but if someone wants them, let me know. There are no other chambers, and your group has made sure there are no secret passages. You can meet back with Bommie and the Iron Gate party, unless there is more you want to do here.)

Isk picks up the books and places them in his pack saying, "I'm not sure why these creatures are interested in these books, but they are magically warded and I wouldn't recommend fiddling with the locks -- the wards can discharge lethal energies. We should take them back up, maybe a cleric of Oghma can get them open."
OOC: If you are finished here, you can tell what you saw to Bommie and Murphy, or ask them questions.
I'm assuming that you are headed back to the Watchful Guild compound for at least the next 4 days. Over the (real-life) weekend, you can add 1100 XP (total 6600) and you will be Level 5.
Reverie already identified her splint mail of necrotic resistance. I am adding the other home-brew magic items to Jack and Froskan. Tell me if anything about the description is confusing.
Jack has a Boom-erang, +1. (Like a storm boomerang, without the stun ability, but it does have a +1.)
Froskan has a Necklace of Sorcerer's Stone. (Once per long rest, you can use a spell slot on any sorcerer's spell, not just the ones that Froskan knows.)

(Cool. So basically just cast a spell as normal, but can be any sorcerer spelll instead of only known ones? Also, I'll go ahead and grab the thieves tools before we leave if no one else is. Not proficient, but wouldn't hurt to have available just in case they'd come in useful. I've at least got a +2 dex mod)
Reverie looks at the book of Oghma before it goes into the pack of Isk. Curious to think why these undead kept this until now. “Couldn’t think of more but I assume they tried to get something out of this book. Since they were undead, they wouldn’t get so much affect even if they’d mess around the lock of this book.” Then she looks back at Trim and then the others in relief. “I am very glad that all of you are safe. Thank you for all your efforts. Also, thank you for your inspiration, Jack.”
