@Briar *via the old man's thoughts: Oh my, that's quite a skill you have. I should warn you, however, exploring the mind of an old wizard is not an endeavor to be taken lightly. You may find more than you can accommodate. However, I am sorry about your sister. Unfortunately, I do not know of her whereabouts. Still... it's nice to know someone is willing to listen to me these days. Such a shame speaking truth comes with such a violent response from our society. What if I told you I have communed with someone who exists in a world not our own? What if I had a way to reach into their world, and allow them to enter ours? Would you, like so many others, call me an old fool and walk away? Or would your interest be peaked enough to help me?
Briar politely listens to the old man's thoughts... those thoughts that he chooses to project to her and responds mentally, 'there is no need for concern elder as I am unable to probe deeply into your mind, I only hear those throughts that you choose to project to me, no more, no less. It is much like speech minus the actual vocalization part so you can be assured that your secrets will remain your own. I only wish to learn... whatever knowledge you are comfortable in sharing with one such as myself. The Unseen Sanctuary teaches us that only three things cannot be long hidden... the sun, the moon, and the truth and that no one is more hated than he who speaks the truth. For myself, I am taught to be both mindful and to be respectful. Please continue... given the choice, I will always choose enlightenment and knowledge over ignorance and darkness... I would not be here before you were it otherwise but you already know that don't you? Thus far you have given me no reason to doubt your word or your sincerity so if I can be of assistance to you then you have only but ask.'
The White Wolf bows his head once more and inspects the burns on the first guard to judge their extent and seriousness.
"Pain is a good sign, with burns," The Wolf murmurs. "It means the damage is not too deep to heal." Then he looks around. "But, though the fire has gone, they are still burning. We need cool water to stop that." He turns to the uninjured guards. "Do you have first aid supplies?" It was a tenuous question in a small village, but a big city surely would have something, right...? "Ointment, bandages, herbs?" His own stock was running quite low - he hadn't been outside the city gates since being separated from his pack...
Perception 18 (If needed, to find water. I'd hope the guards would know where to look, but just in case)
Medicine 23 (to make due with what he has at hand for now)
One of the uninjured guards responds, "Certainly, just a moment.", then rushes off to get the water from the nearest well. In a few short moments he returns, slightly out of breath, with a small bucket of water. "Hopefully this will do!"
"For now," says the White Wolf. Guiding the injured guards to an out-of-way spot, he pulls from his things a small cup. After judging the injuries, he'll choose one guard, and begin washing the water repeatedly over the burns. "Get another, and do the same for him," the Wolf nods to the other guard.
If there's another person present, he'll request again. "Bandages, please. And herbs - Aloe and lavender. Maybe rose, comfrey, honey, beeswax?"
The guard who fetched the water relays your instructions to the few people who remain in the market district. "The Yarl will pay you for your trouble, just please bring us some herbs that will help!", he yells to the crowd.
One by one, citizens approach bringing honey, aloe, lavender, sage, oils, and cloth. The guard who has been assisting you instructs each of them to give the materials to The White Wolf.

My house, just outside of the city, Has been robbed and my magic robe was among the items stolen from me. This is no ordinary robe. I was visited one night by a mysterious dog carrying a robe in its mouth. I took the robe from the dog, and it vanished. Attached was a note from someone claiming to be from another plane of existence, and instructing me as to how to use the robe and meet with them. But now the robe is gone, and i fear it may be lost forever if we dont find it quickly. Thats why I created such a scene in the market. I knew I could not find it alone, and I needed to attract the attention of anyone who may actually believe me. Unfortunately I ran into some trouble as you may have noticed.
The White Wolf makes sure each guards' hands have been thoroughly washed with the cool water. He accepts the supplies gratefully, though he waves away the oils.
Using his cup, he begins to mix a poultice of aloe and lavender. "To cool the burns, and to ease the pain," he soothes as he gently applies the mixture to the burns. He hums softly as he works, in a soothing tone.
Once he has applied the poultice to each guard, he begins to tear the cloth into bandages. "Apply the honey, twice each day, then re-bandage the burns. Do not rub - apply it gently, as I have." He begins to wrap the injured hands. "Be careful of any blisters - do not aggravate them, just let them be. Do not use any oils on the burns. Do this, and keep them bandaged, until the redness fades."
He looks carefully at each guard, and then at their friends. "Be patient - it will take time, but you will heal if you do these things."
Finally, the White Wolf mixes the honey poultices and wraps them in the sage leaves for the guards to take with them. "When they are used up, use the leaves for tea." He advises. Granted, sage wasn't particularly for burns, but tea was generally soothing.**
**Should you find yourself or someone else with burns, see a doctor. Don't ask an imaginary barbarian healer on the internet. I am not a doctor.
“Well Terrance, personally I would suggest that you strike up a conversation with him while I cover the exits. Only thing is, it appears that the light blue fellow over there (waiving towards the air Genasi bringing the old man a drink) beat you to it. Have you any acquaintance with him?”
Ducolis and Rasquin both travel to the tavern together. I will let you two decide if you want to discuss anything during the mile or so walk to the tavern.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Briar processes the old man's thoughts and responds,'yes so I have noticed, sometimes we bite off a bit more than we can chew, no doubt that tactic is both a blessing and a curse bringing to you those like myself who might ally and help you but also bringing unwanted attention that in a time sensitive matter you can ill afford. Tell me, what sort of dog it was that brought this robe... a domesticated breed or something more feral and wild? Do you believe it to have been a true beast or something or someone who has merely assumed the form? I take that, in any event, you never saw the dog before? You mentioned that a note was attached to the magic robe, do you have it with you then? May I read it (the note) for myself? Did you show the robe to anyone else or share its secret with another or others, if so could they be involved in its theft or perhaps shared or sold the knowledge of the robe's existence to another or other interested parties that may, in turn, be responsible? For instance, a colleague of yours or perhaps you do not live alone, a family member or a servant in your employ that could have without your knowing witnessed you receiving the robe, etc.? If not then do you have any ideas as to how whoever took the robe knew that you had it?'
Briar sits back considering the matter closely before adding, her face calm and placid, 'as you can plainly see I am rather young and unremarkable some might even say ill-equipped to handle such a matter, at least... alone. I take it that you are aware of others close at hand who like I have sought you out that for whatever reasons... curiosity, a mercenary who dreams of rich rewards, a noble soul, a questing knight of virtue etc., such folk that could prove worthy proponents to assist you in your hour of need? I wonder... and what of those who might have followed you here to silence you... silence the truth, are there any of those about as well? Such opposing forces could prove to be a dangerous mix don't you think? But then would not such a gambit prove an excellent tactic to find suitable champions? What could better than arranging a test? Is this a test then... to separate the wheat from the chaff?'
Briar 's cold pale blue eyes slowly scan the room, not turning her head. She looks about the tavern as the old man considers his response(s)... the Hedge Witch taking in the sight of various people about, those that were there since she had entered and those who have only just come after... her arrival!

"Ah the direct approach, it has a certain elegant simplicity to it." Terrance squints at the air genasi Zaroc has waved at "Now you don't see someone like that everyday. Looks like he could be a dangerous one if he so wished it." He scratches his chin "Could be a good man to have on our side if things go sour. Lets get closer and see if we can hear how things play out."

The guards express their gratitude, asking if there was any way they could repay you?

The White Wolf shakes his head, waving them away. "I am glad to be of help to those who hurt."
When they're gone, he tidies up the scraps of cloth and herbs for his own supply. They'd likely be useful later.
