Mara opens her mouth to speak, but Cadoc interrupts her.
"Stonevine was working alone," he says, looking through one of the small books Boden had found in the wall. "Well, not with other druids. Didn't trust 'em. Didn't trust anybody. He saw the town as a plague. Worse than vermin." he says, shaking his head. Cadoc turns a page and scratches his beard, taken aback. "Did awful things to them."
It takes Mara a moment to speak in her surprise. "Yes. He'd send mice to eat our grain, deer to eat our crops, and wolves to eat our children. If an animal were sick with something he'd send it to us, to go rabid and get us sick as well. He'd even send mosquitos to bite us and termites to destroy out homes. Or just send bears and boars through our land to see what damage they could do."
"Nothing you couldn't recover from," Cadoc says. He was working on something worse."
