A new world! The Dwarven mines are all but depleted. The Elven forests almost cut down to nothing. Human's bicker with their Halfling counter-parts over politics and Orcs wage war against each other, ransacking everything in-between. Little changes. Some citizens of Faerun and Eberron are leaving their homelands for 'The New World'. They are tired, worn-out and yearn for a new beginning. The New World was discovered only very recently during the Second-Sundering in Faerun. The Great Rift was closed, but other, smaller rifts opened in it's stead. A group of adventurers known as The Circle dived into one of the rifts, expecting to find the Arch-Lich Vecna hiding and recharging, but instead they found a new, fertile land. After a brief expedition, the group found that this land was untamed and wild. Resources were abundant and the lands stretched as far as the eye could see, and further. There were remnants of civilisation here, but nothing to suggest anything that still inhabits the area. The Circle returned to Faerun with the news and after a few expeditions from the Zhentarim, the Lord's Alliance and other factions, the plans were set in motion for colonies to be built.
It has been two-hundred years since this expeditionary force discovered 'The New World'. Rifts had opened in Eberron and Grayhawk, with some Rift Routes merging along the way. Many people have already left their old worlds behind to start fresh. You, are one of these people. The world is yet to be explored, and all manner of races, clans and factions have travelled through the rift, hoping to grab a slice of it. Little has been mapped, and even less has been visited. The Dwarves have made the mountains their home, and have already begun digging deep in search of minerals, materials and wealth. The Elves have left Evermeet behind, which was quickly overrun by creatures from the Feywild. The Gnomes, Halflings and other smaller races have picked peaceful areas which they can farm. The Humans are yet to send a large contingent through, worried about what might happen to Faerun should they leave it in the hands of savages, or worse, the Red Wizards of Thay.
Hello, all!
I will be starting my Homebrew World for the first time and would like 6 Players to join for a campaign. Races from Eberron and Faerun are allowed (must have content unlocked in DnD Beyond for Eberron as I don't own it, but can enable content sharing for all). Nothing from Unearthed Arcana as I'd prefer to keep this balanced. I would like applicants to use the template below to give me an idea. Would like a diverse range or Races/Classes. I will post at least once a day on weekdays, but weekends may be slower due to other commitments. Once I choose my 6 I will invite you to the campaign and you can read more about the World and it's nuances.
There is a homebrew race - The Weave Human - Humans that were hit with a catastrophic magical blast on their journey through the rift, plunging them into the Ethereal Plane. These Humans survived, but can now only rest when in this plane. They can transport themselves there once per day in order to rest, but this can sometimes go wrong...
There is also a homebrew Sorcerer Sub-Class - Rift Touched - Much like the Humans, these individuals were touched by a magical explosion during their journey to the New World, and this is the source of their magical power. Although, the journey has left them scarred and they suffer, reaping the consequences of this phenomena.
Two new backgrounds - Illegal Arrival and Spawn of Sloth - Illegal Arrival is just that, arrivals to the New World are strictly controlled, but there is always another way in. Changelings are banned from the New World, as well as Magic that alters a persons appearance (there are exemptions in the Theatre and Entertainment Industry). This doesn't mean that Changelings aren't present in the New World... It just means they are here illegally. Spawn of Sloth is a derogatory name given to Native New World-ers. The reason for the term is that people regard these individuals' parents as lazy, as instead of procreating and raising a child they should have been out building and exploring, helping build a new civilisation without stretching the already slim resources.
NOTE - These homebrew additions may change if I find something to be too powerful / not powerful enough as this will be the first real-life test after consultation.
Applications Below! (Level 1 starting - Rolling for stats later on.
Bear (Bare?) in mind you will all be travelling to the New World during the introduction.
Character Name -
Character Race -
Character Class -
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) -
Reason for coming to the New World: Nowhere is part of a long line of adventurers, most of which are long-dead. He was pretty rich, with his family's wealth growing up, and joined a ludicrous scheme that his friend thought out. He followed, trusting said friend before knowing what the actual scheme was, and found himself in the New World. The friend was ambushed, and killed by orcs, leading Nowhere to stumble around, hungry, angry, scared, bored. He learnt some degree of survival, and shaped out of his "being rich and whining" cliché, fooling around in the world, and trying to join theater societies. And failing. Miserably.
also, I can't currently find your homebrew? Just for personal use, and multiclassing. And then obviously I need Illegal Arrival to serve as a suitable background.
Real Name: I'm with MindDetective, not sure if you want MY name? JJ or Jake works.
Race/Class: Warforged Monk 1
Background: (Unnamed) was created to protect the mystical ki force that monks draw upon and use to accomplish incredible feats of athleticism and magic, in most instances for good. But there are those monks who would misuse the ki, and thus he was forged to eliminate these usurpers, and bring balance and peace to a corrupted world. He has recently been appointed the mission of hunting down banished or fugitive monks in this new world.
Real Name - (Do you mean my name? John, MD or MindDetective works too)
Character Race - Yuan-Ti Pureblood
Character Class - Sorceror
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) - Vostaria is as haughty as her fellow Yuan-Ti but she does not disparage the lesser races quite as much. In academic circles, she is ostracized for believing that the other races may be more than mere meat. She has studied them for many years, but the opening of rifts to a new world has posed a potential problem for the Yuan-Ti. The other races are claiming the new lands for their own, leaving the Yuan-Ti behind. Vostaria saw this as the perfect opportunity to advance her own agenda. She volunteered to transit the rift and study the potential for the Yuan-Ti to claim their place in the new world. In actuality, she is there to study how the other races are adapting to this new place. It is a unique situation that might enable her to provide evidence that the Yuan-Ti are not in such a lofty place above the other races as so many of her kind assume.
Backstory: Tusk was abandoned as a child. He was born from a tribe of orcs and a Human man who wandered into the wrong place. When he was a baby, it was all right. His dad was too dumb to notice he was only half Orc. Then he was kicked out. At age 5, he was left in the wild with the beasts and monstrosities of the New World. He was raised by wild boars, which is why he named himself tusk. He trained to hunt and fight, and when he was ready to go back to his family, he did. And saw a little girl with the same family mark as him. A little sister. Dead in his fathers own hands. Tusks eyes and mouth seethed with rage so intense, if you slashed the air with a halberd, it would break in pieces. He had a knife made out of animal bone, and slaughtered the whole clan of orcs. The weapon even broke, he killed so many. He wept then, when it was over, and made a vow to redeem himself and protect the wild and civilization. He took things from the orcs loot and set out on an adventure.
Backstory: Aria grew up on the streets of Waterdeep, working as a messenger between different criminal factions from a young age. When she was young she saw a performance by a bard and was immediately fascinated. She wanted to be like that. Over the next few years she worked her way up in the underworld, making a reputation for herself as an effective, freelance, jack-of-all-trades. One that wouldn't ask too many questions if the money was good. Eventually she made enough money to go to a bard college and excelled there. Now she travels the world, playing her songs and plying her various trades. This new world seems like just the place to have a few adventures, write a few songs, and make an obscene amount of gold doing it.
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) - She is a (unofficial) crusader trying to purge evil from every corner of the worlds! she might not be super amazing at crusading and purging evil but she will try her absolute hardest!
Brief Background: Dorstaer is an explorer who makes his living selling fake "artifacts" and “discoveries” (charlatan background). One day, he came across something real, an ancient sentient artifact. It made a pact with him, agreeing to give him power in exchange for keeping it hidden and working as it's agent in the world. Dorstaer continued with his previous lifestyle of selling fakes, but would also undertake missions as directed by his patron. He was directed by his patron to go to the new world as it's agent there, which suits him just fine, as a wealthy individual who purchased his last fake has since discovered they were duped, and are quite keen to find him and punish him for it.
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) - Born in a brothel from the coupling of a human mother and orc father, Brynn was small and quiet, unusual traits for a child of half -orc blood. An only child, Brynn was kept out of sight from the patrons, spending most of her time in the small woods nearby, building a connection to the area and the creatures that resided in it, specifically a strange stag-like creature that often came to visit the area. And how strange the creature was, almost as if it was trying to teach her something each time it appeared. Showing her how the natural world worked, how life thrived and how easily it could be snuffed out. With the creature's help she was able to tap into the natural magic around her and shift it around her; even growing strong enough to preform minor magical tricks. Eventually, her mother took her and left in an attempt to find a better place to live, and Brynn was whisked away from the woods she called home. In her new village she came across an old hermit who once hearing of her tales of the woods, decided to take her under his wing and helped her refine what she had learned by herself in the woods. As she grew older her and her master would discuss greatly about the failure of the people to protect and care for their world. Heartbroken of the continual loss of the natural world, Brynn decided to leave the old dying world for a new one.
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) - The Stumbleducks can't catch a break. Sure, they've enjoyed generations of wealth and jarringlygood looks ever since old Pawpaw Stumbleduck found that Wish rod all those years ago. The never-ending bad luck that came with it is more headache than the deal is worth, though. Wick moved to Neverwinter after his home burned to the ground (don't ask) to learn at the Arcanum, focusing his studies on the divination magicks that could counter his family's curse. Barring success there, plan B is to start a new life in the New World.
Wick is too handsome by half for a forest gnome and he knows it. Worse still, he is middling fair with the lyre he insists on carrying everywhere. Curse or no curse, he is a gnome in need of a good humbling.
I'm pretty new, but still learning! I'd like to see how this turns out.
Character Name - Juza
Character Race - Weave Human
Character Class - Paladin
Brief Background - I chose to come to the New World after my Brotherhood let themselves be hired on as sell-swords to an upstart kingdom. They have broken the pact we made our god — to serve humanity and Him. Disgusted with my Brothers and the loss of faith in this world, I decided to head to the New World, to lead it into justice and faith.
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) - When Jebben's bardic college held open-stage auditions (i.e. job interviews) for "Why My Home is Abroad," seeking to find two qualified archivist candidates for a long-term excursion into The New World, Jebben created a moving ten-minute play that knocked the socks off the judges and landed him a place in one of the two expeditions. (But to be fair, half the bards who applied had assumed the title to be a pun, and made asses of themselves as they described their lewd behavior with the "broads.")
The young gnome, who was nearing the end of his cultural archivist study program, dreaded the thought of becoming an overpaid and overeducated librarian, analyzing and interpreting others' discoveries made long ago in Faerun. Friendly almost to a fault, Jebben has a knack for opening people up and plying their secrets from them, whether it be a family recipe never before tasted in Faerun, or the secret location of a village's religious temple buried deep in the mountains.
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) - Ellayne is the first child out of four children of the Wisefire family, and yet she is considering as a hopeless child since she decided not to do her father's legacy. Her father, Adrian Wisefire, was a well-known wizard and wanted Ellayne to be like him. However, her brothers and sister showed their talents at magic while Ellayne showed more skilled and interested with a longbow. At that cause, he expressed how disappointed he was towards Ellayne by comparing her with their second son, Cassius Wisefire. By the comparison, her brother became more prideful towards her, lost his respect towards Ellayne, Ellayne remained silent. But the way of her speech has demonstrated by her escaping her family's house. With a small message to her parents: "I'm sorry." It would be unusual for her to take an adventure that no one has ever been to. To the New World. Though, she would like to take this challenge.
Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
Character Name - Barnum (Stormhammer - although he doesn't actually know his own last name)
Character Race - Dwarf
Character Class - Fighter (Champion)
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) -
Barnum remembers nothing of his life besides slavery. Somewhere in the past, he had a real life, but it was too early for him to remember. He was raised in a household in the Mulhorandi Empire, where he was a general servant to a somewhat kind enough master. That was, until the master died. Barnum found himself instead, left to a gladiatorial arena, where he was forced to fight his way through, but actually managed to achieve some significant success. Soon enough he had actually achieved enough renown that he was able to barter his own freedom, and set out to explore the rest of the world, supporting himself by finding pit fighting opportunities as he travelled, but he was one of many in all of these situations, in a world that's filled with heroes and legends.
Then he heard about the rift. Surely, across the way, in a world that is unexplored and underpopulated, there would be the opportunity to make a glorious and heroic name for himself. Barnum would be known throughout the realms in this new world if he could find the right opportunity.
Character Name - Wander (Chosen name, was called Wrarinn when built. Also identifies himself as male)
Character Race - Warforged (Envoy)
Character Class - Monk (Kensei or Drunken Master at level 3)
Brief Background (Reasons why you chose to come to the New World) - Like many other Warforged, Wander had a hard time finding his place in his homeworld of Ebberon as he could never decide where he truly belonged. He found solace in a monastery where he strived to find inner peace and perhaps his true purpose. After years of tryingnhenfelt he had some semblance of inner peace and left the monastery on a pilgrimage of self discovery and to find what he would do next in his life. He had heard of the New World before but had never considered it much past being a place where people went to start a new life as they escaped the troubles of the world.
As if by coincidence or an act of fate, on his travels he found his way to a place where people could travel to the New World, finding himself intrugued as he had a chance to discover and expierence new things outside of the world he had traveled. With a hope to better himself and perhaps others throughnthe teachings he had learned at the monastery he petitioned to be allowed through.

But the way of her speech has demonstrated by her escaping her family's house. With a small message to her parents: "I'm sorry." It would be unusual for her to take an adventure that no one has ever been to. To the New World. Though, she would like to take this challenge.
Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet
Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
Character Name - Barnum (Stormhammer - although he doesn't actually know his own last name)
