Each player turn, you can rearrange the marching order by as many people as you pass thru, ie: half your movement rounded down (in case Beegred wants to change your movement).
I'll rule you can also do damage to Sarith, Tozer and Xilyrah to get them fighting (a slap, ie: unarmed attack) after your characters would realize they are not engaging (so round 3).
That is the plan - to give the rest of the party time to escape if they are so inclined - though I cannot take another hit like that last one.
Maybe after Krizz's attack (movement the same round as his attack), switch spots with Tozer, and maybe Derendil as well. A demon attack will get Tozer into the action.
Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
My thoughts were to toss Tozer in front of me next round so that there were at least two mindless ones there to distract the creature as my plan was to try and backtrack instead of trying to go forward. But Narstin and Beegred are on the wrong side of the creature for that...
If Jimjar can smack Xilyrah, having another spell caster (Toll the Dead, or Eldritch Blast) will help a lot... Sarith is useless, but who knows?
Request for DM inspiration - Beegred will not try to escape, until all hope is gone. He doesn't have a death wish, but will continue to strike back.

Can someone play Jimjar this round? Just look up 'deep gnome' creature to see what his options are.
I'd say that Jimjar throws one of his poison darts.
Attack: 5 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
If he hits, target rolls a DC 12 CON save or be poisoned for a minute, with additional saves at the end of each of its turns. (EDIT: Crap. If this is a Vrock, it is immune to the poison condition.)
If Jimjar is out darts, he would slap and/or shove Sarith closer to the demon. ("Bet you 1 GP that the demon kills us all before we kill it, unless you start helping!")

You are in a fissure that is about 5 feet wide that goes up very high into darkness. The demon is holding onto the walls (both sides) with claws and talons.
The demon is size large (not correctly shown on map).

@Krizzibond: You're holding your ground and not moving, correct?

and since it seems to be resistant to non-magical weapons - we're in trouble if everyone decides to stick around...

Two choices here:
@Rodolfo: I gave you control of Jimjar. His character sheet is under your "Extras" tab to see what he can do. You can play his action at any point.
Krizz will let Derendil past him - another thing to distract the creature while we try and escape

Everyone is free to act in round 3. I already applied the damage to Derendil.
I am travelling on vacation and may not have access to a PC for the next two days. Worse case, I will resume posting on Tuesday Aug. 13.
Excellent - then I will rethink my strategies
