"I'm ready too!" Kalahari said, nodding. She wasn't the most subtle, though. Being made of sandstone meant she tended to clunk with every step, so she should probably take the back. She stood up, holding her mace and muttering herself, trying to figure out what spells she had that would be useful. Unfortunately, it was mostly healing spells. Detect Magic might come in handy, but then again, maybe not. Well, even if she wasn't the best equipped, she'd just have to try and do her best to keep up.

A perspiring ashen violet female elf wearing a bland overdress beneath her vestments and a modest backpack shaken from her recent travels enters the camp.
"From what I knew we have more than a few people recruited for this war party, have they gone ahead?"
She collects her ragged breathing resulting from forcing herself to run before she continues.
"Where are my manners, I should introduce myself first right? My name is Loraphine Withrethin, a practitioner of martial arts under the watch of god Nyo."
The flap to one of the tents opens up, and a shiny head pokes out.
"Lora is it?"Odo steps out. "I'm Odo, I've also dabbled a little in martial arts... good to have a kindred spirit here, though I'm not much for Nyo. Maybe we could have a spar sometime?"
The halfling is confident, but strikes a very unimpressive figure. If people were to take bets, no one would bet on little Odo.
After waiting for everyone to get their kits together. Wraith says, "I'd like to get out on the road before a storm arrives. Everyone ready?" He looks around at the 9 other volunteers, Quavari, Phen, Quoren, Kenley, Guthric, Xerlox, Ganathar, Kalahari, & Wilfred. With a nod to confirm that the others are finished with their preparations, Wraith heads towards to gate & out onto the open planes.
Loraphine encloses her fist with an open palm as she gives a small bow at the halfling. She makes an ephemeral smile before she replies.
"As much as I want to oblige Odo, I think now is not the best time. Perhaps on a later date after we finish our mission.
From what little information I knew before I came here, we are supposed to be investigating the recent sightings of a dragon in these mountains and immediately report its authenticity.
Since you've been here longer than me on this war party, do we have any leads regarding our task?"

Belorin walks the perimeter of the camp with his bow in hand, his eyes gazing outward into the darkness to see if anything is trying to approach them. He makes two rounds, before eventually finding a rock somewhere at the edge of the camp and sits down, staring out and keeping watch.
Ganathor follows Quoren and says to him, "Well, since the objective of this is to not be seen, I don't think being seen magically would be a good idea. I can help if we get lost, I have some past experience with this sort of thing."

Odo shrugs. "Suit yourself." He goes and sits by the fire. "All I know is we're scouting for some information on a dragon, maybe? I don't pay much attention. They keep my belly full to punch things and I'm content with that arrangement. Sorry. Speaking of which... You don't happen to have any sweets on you, so you?"
Guthric stands with front-most comrades in the troop, short hunting bow at the ready with quiver on his hip. The bitter, cold air is refreshing outside the camp -- it feels like a new hunt.

Looking at Wraith, Wilfred gives him a short nod and a grunt as a confirmation. "Hrm. Ready to head out. Glad if we're a scouting force, less likely that Kalahari and I need ta patch ya back up. But if it's alright, I'd like to keep to the middle of the squad, I'll be most helpful there." Awaiting a response, he takes out his flask, and takes a swig.

Kalahari nods in agreement with Wilfred. It was rather a relief to have another healer along, even if his wasn't through magic. "I think I'll take up the back if that's alright. I'm not very stealthy," she says apologetically.

Wraith nods in acknowledgement to Wilfred, "That's fine by me, good sir. We do need to determine a marching order. Anyone have any experience as a scout? I grew up on the streets back home & quickly learned that to survive it was best to be unobserved. I can sneak about; but have no real scouting experience such as tracking game. Guthric, you appear to be a soul used to living in the wilds. Perhaps you can assist with that?"
Ganathor steps up, "I'd be able to take point, but it might be best if someone else is on hand to double check my decisions. It's been a while since I've had to push through the wilderness."
The quartermaster nods at each of you as you pass, making some quick notes as she assesses your equipment. The speed at which she makes notes contrasts with how lazily she moves the rest of her body while she's sitting in her chain. As everyone is discussing scouting, taking point, and the surrounding area, the quartermaster beckons Wraith over by waving a map in her hand. "This one was here when the cartographer came through and got a copy of the original map. If you like, I will lend it to you for the duration of your mission."
Belorin notices the owl Paren has been seeing. It seems to have been staying consistently within eyeshot of the camp, occasionally preying on the few remaining small creatures that weren't scared off by the decent-sized encampment. A few more moments pass before the watch shift changes, and Belorin, Paren, and all the other soldiers are allowed to rest. As Odo and Loraphine have their talk, a few soldiers mill around the fire, swapping stories from their hometowns.
