The Herr Doktor Professor will follow the party to the inn, but will ask the barkeep if he knows the location of Darran. If possible, he will ask if a message can be sent to the cleric to come to the inn.
Ian quickly explains to Toblen about rescuing Mirna from the Redbrands. The innkeeper looks both agast and frustrated. "I really wish you hadn't done that," he says. "We're in for a world of trouble, now."
Just before Ian had finished relaying the story, Herr Doktor and Rock enter and join the two at the bar. At Toblen's dire response, the bard taps on the bar. "What's done is done. We'd like to hide Mirna and her children here while we send word to Daran Edermath."
"Daran?" Toblen asks, now looking astonished. "What does he have to do with this mess?"
While this is going on, Glynquinal leaves Gruxx outside with Mirna, Nilsa, Nars and the body of Thel to go inside and rest. He melts into the shadows and is unseen as he circumnavigates the common room to exit through the back door to the rooms.
Mirna, Nilsa and Nars are huddled together, looking around nervously. Another human woman sees them and hurries up to them. "Mirna!" she exclaims happily. When she notices the mutilated body of Thel in Gruxx's arms, she stops and puts a hand over her mouth in horror.
"What is going on?" Mirna asks impatiently, looking at the door to the Stonehill Inn.
Glynquinal, upon reaching his room, quickly checks to make sure the small chest he hid there has not been disturbed, then drops his pack. Locking the door behind him and setting up one of his bells on the door as an alarm, he lays down to rest.
OOC, sorry I didnt have computer access for a few days. As you took over, Ian told Toblen a bit of what is happening.
Ian to Toblen We can cover all of that later. I will fill you in with all of the details, but right now, i want to get this family off the streets and into protection. A little impatiently Can I use your back door to get them upstairs to a room?
"We ask your help in sheltering Frau Mirna and her kinder, Toblen," the Herr Doktor Professor tells the innkeep.
"My kamaraden and I have battled the Redbrands, but we will need assistance to defeat them. If we can rid this town of those bandits, you and your fellow townsfolk can feel safe again.
"Mirna and the unfortunate Thel are your neighbors. What happened to them could easily happen to you, unless the Redbrands are stopped."
Gruxx looks to the woman then looks down at the body in his arms then back to the woman.
”Shhh! Keep your voice down!” Loudly whispers Gruxx to the woman.
”I don’t have the time to walk you through it but unless you want Mirna to end up like Thel here we gotta keep her hidden for now!” Continues Gruxx in his whisper.
”Now who are you? Mirna, do you know this person?” Says Gruxx
"There isn't a back door to the rooms," Toblen says impatiently. "You think I'm going to invite people to skip out on paying? The only other outside door besides the front door leads to the kitchen," he says, motioning behind him. "If you bring Mirna and her kids through here, I won't say anything, but I can't guarantee they won't."
Ian and the other two look around the room at the 10 or so Phandalinites enjoying a noon meal or some drinks.
Outside, the woman looks aghast at Gruxx. "Of course I know Mirna. She's my neighbor. We've known each other for years."
"Yes, I know her," Mirna says to Gruxx. Looking at the woman, Mirna says, "This man and his friends rescued us from the Redbrands and are going to help us bury Thel."
The woman looks a strange combination of sad and happy in response.
Ian returns to Mirna Unfortunately, there is no back way in. But you should be safe upstairs.
Ian escorts her in. Since there is no way to keep it quiet, Ian decides to lean into the situation. As they enter the tavern, bringing the dead body of Thel, Ian directs Gruxx to lay him on a table near the door. Ian then nudges HDP and says Follow my lead, and then take over - you are the performer, not I...
Ian raises his voice to quiet the tavern, and says How long, people of Phandalin, will you let these criminals and ruffians run this town? How many of your number do they have to kill before you rise against these terrorists that govern through fear! Thel is just the next in a long line. It could be your husband, wife, son or daughter next. It is time for the people of Phandalin to take this town back from the hands of the redbrands!
OOC - Ian is trying to incite a riot and have the townspeople help during the next encounter with the redbrands. Kind of hard to do table talk with play by post, so just wanted to let you guys know what I was thinking.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The Herr Doktor Professor understands what the elf is trying to do, but worries about the danger of more townsfolk getting killed.
In Elvish, he tells Ian, "Unlike the Elven people, most human are untrained in battle.
"All adult Elves are trained to fight with sword and bow, allowing even the smallest Elvish village to raise an effective militia in times of danger.
"Human society is not organized in such a fashion," he warns. "Many more will die if they take up arms against the Redbrands.
"However, you are right that they can provide us with more assistance."
Like Ian, the Herr Doktor Professor will remind the villagers in the inn of the injustices done by the Redbrands. However, he will point out that the villagers can aid in ways besides fighting -- such as sending a warning if the Redbrands are coming, or providing a shelter for Mirna and her children.
As Ian and Herr Doktor speak, the townsfolk present begin to grumble in agreement. The longer they talk, the louder the crowd gets. They seem to be on board! Even Toblen looks less resistant.
Ian, with HDPs help, has generated some newfound passion in his audience. He doesnt want to lose what he has, but he also knows his friends need rest.
Ian to the crowd. I am glad you feel the same as we do, that this scourge should be wiped away! My friends and I have just dealt them a mightly blow, and have rescued your friends from their prisons. They need to be stopped. My friends and I need to rest, but if you see any redbrands, send word to us. If you feel brave, refuse them your services. They have lived off of these people for far too long. If you have been trained to fight, then stand and fight with us! We will keep Mirna here with us for now, but if any of you have a place that they can stay and be safe, let me know.
For now, we need to rest. If you need us, and we are not here, ask Toblen. We will try to keep him up to date with where we are and what we are doing.
They may have used you in the past, and intimidated you, but no longer. There are more of you than them; do not let them take your pride, your joy, or your freedom.

OOC: Ooops, 3rd ed flashback from a 1st ed grognard. You are right, of course. I meant to write Persuasion.

Ian's persuasion 17

Glynquinal, oblivious to that events in the tavern room is blissfully resting. Looking forward to a meal, and a hot bath after a while.
OOC: LOL, Glynquinal.

Gruxx stands back smiling from ear to ear in amazement at what is happening in front of him.6
Rock is enjoying the show

Ian escorts Mirna upstairs to his room, and take first watch outside the room at the door.
