I finish unpacking the meager belongings that i had brought on this trip. " Caesar, you can sleep over by the door. You can make sure that no unwanted guests drop by, my friend. " Glancing at the single bed and Vickie I laugh. " Well at least it is a large bed. I will try not to kick you in my sleep or snore. "
I will spend much of my time studying the lake and our surroundings Caesar never leaves my side with his daunting presence.
I quickly summarize our intentions and discoveries to Ariel as well as any other messages from the rest of the group, and send him on his way back to the Lord's keep to deliver it, with instructions to ask and wait for a return message then come back to find me.

I offer to learn how to sailor fish while we're on the boat ride. "I don't eat fish but I always thought it was a great way to get free food." I display that I have some knowledge in knot work, specifically knowing how to do box and slip knots.
The first day on he lake proves to be interesting as the crew seems to be a bit distracted as Rachel and Vickie both decide to lay out and get some some wearing extremely little as they lay on the aft deck where they can get the most sun topless. At least they have their undies on. Jason is a bit surprised when Thalica decides to join them. Sagwalg Just shakes his head but lets them be as he orders his men around. He does tell Jason that their help is ot needed as his well seasoned men have a lot of experience. He will give you some pointers about the lake, the winds and how to sail a ship.

Low on funds and materials for enchanting projects, I find other ways to occupy my time. A good portion of it is spent scouring the ship, checking into every nook and cranny I can poke my nose into. I'd always been interested in old fashioned sailing ships, but seeing a functional one with my own eyes was a new experience. Along the way I keep an eye out for anything I might be able to repair or perhaps even improve.
At some point, preferably not during one of the subathing sessions, I'll approach Rachel, "We'll be passing by the marsh shortly. I'm thinking a little aerial recon is in order with you and Ping doing a few flyovers so we have a good idea of what to expect when we return. Willing to spend some more time as an eagle? We won't be in a good position to come and help if there's trouble though, so please don't take too many risks."
I grin at Jason. " If you insist that i fly for a few hours.... I guess i can make that sacrifice. " I walk to Caesar. " Caesar, I will be gone for a while Look after my friends though . " He looks at Jason and snorts. " I mean it Caesar. Protect them. " He looks at me as if he understands. " Jason, I will be careful. I will be gone a few hours and that should give me enough time to get a good look. See you soon. "
I move to an area above deck and that offers some concealment . Having done this I visualize myself as an eagle. Feeling my form changing to a large brown eagle i soar skyward. Exulting in my newfound freedom i circle the ship twice before darting towards the swamp. I will be on the lookout for the black dragon's and anything else that could be interesting or dangerous to us.

Smiling at our druid's enthusiasm for flight, I send Ping along with Rachel with instructions to follow her and help in the survey. The construct's senses are not nearly as sensitive as that of her eagle form, but it could point out anything odd that it does notice. In the event of a problem, Ping is instructed to get as many details as feasible and report back including a message from Rachel if she's capable of it, in addition the construct is to follow any of Rachel's verbal commands
I can't beat Rachel's rolls, so I'm instead rolling this as a pair of aid another checks, DC 10 to add +2 to her results. spot 2 listen 6
When permitted, I climb up to the peak observation point of the mast some days and enjoy the precariousness and thrill of being so many dozens of feet above the surface. Watching the far horizon dutifully at such times, yet having fun with the enhancements this new world has given me. Waiting for Ariel's return, I review some of the skills I've learned and practice some others that I feel need it. Shipboard combat poses a unique challenge, with the unsteady footing and varied levels.
OOC - just RP-ing for later choices of skill tricks. Not doing anything stupid, though. Well secured while climbing, etc.

Travis, finds a quiet place on the boat to learn from his new 'scroll' spell flaming sword. Using the travel funds to do this at 50gp for materials. Then taking 2 hours of reading and remembering the incantation. With a DC of 12 to do this.
Spell craft # 24
Travis, has successfully committed the contents of this scroll to memory. Also, has copied it into his main 'prayer,' divine spell book.
*Travis now has this second level spell prepared every second day. Replacing the second level Sound burst spell. Which, he will alternate between the two.
While Grant climbs up to the crows nest he can get a very nice look at the ladies sunning themselves. The first couple days go by quietly. Soon Jason has Rachel go on a scouting mission alone as Ping and Ariel have yet to return from their missions to the Stronghold and reporting to the Lord. You all watch her as a eagle take to wing and head towards the south where the marsh should be. Soon she is out of you sight. She does return some hours later to report. She is unharmed.
Taking a passing glance at the scenery when aloft - both on deck and beyond it - I keep a sharp eye out for issues and am relieved as each day that passes without any. Calculating time and distance, I wonder if Ariel has been delayed from it's delivery and return, and I periodically send out thought-feelers towards where it should be coming from. From the top of the mast, I warn the Captain and I spend a few minutes playing with the newly crafted magical horn, leaving a trail of cloud behind the mast like a smoke stack's exhaust. When I spot Rachel's return, I sing the fact out to the deck below and clamber down to hear what she discovered.
OOC - 2 days pass = Horn of Fog is complete, Horseshoes of a Zephyr are 1/6th complete.

i shake my head in irritation and unease. " Well.. I learned a little from my scouting. There are some large bodies of water towards the center of the marsh that could hide an underwater cave. There are orcs, barbarians and crocodiles there. Lastly...." I hesitate for a moment. " There is another dragon there....a green one. "
"Sounds like a good side trip, after our diplomatic mission. Greens spew poison and acid, if I recall. Maybe we can pick up some protections in the new lands."I say, speculating. "I still would love to know what the gangs are looking for in our lands."

"How big was the Green? Elephant size? Or bigger? I ask to determined how much of a threat it is. A smaller one we could possibly take, especially with some preparation against acid, but something larger would be death to us despite our numbers. Even if we can't approach it now, we could mark it for something to take down after we'd built up our strength and got better equipment, I'm fairly certain Bahamut would want that."
" He was bigger than elephant size. We should exercise extreme caution with it. I'm betting the lair is around or under those large bodies of water. Whenever we go there i have abilities that i can use to search for an underwater lair. Just think of the fortune in that lair. We could become wealthy. "
Caesar is glad to see me return. He looks at me to make sure i'm ok and then yawns.
At the mention of wealth, I smile slightly "Counting your chickens,eh? Having some goodly amounts of coin in our 'pockets' is a nice stepping stone to our goals, for sure. But not if we're resting in the digestive tract of some fantastic creature like that.forewarned is forearmed, so we can equip ourselves and hope it matches what our game-playing knowledge taught us."

I grin at Grant. " You are right of course. I am just really excited about all those coins that are probably there. We can strike out on our own. Make our fortune in this new kingdom to the east. "
Ping arrives back shortly after Rachel has returned with a message from the Lord. Take caution in the lands to the east across the great lake. While the marsh of death that lies to the east and south of the trading post sounds promising I must caution you to not take a marsh lightly as lots of very dangerous creature often hide in bogs and under pools of water that you will not see until you cross their path. As to the eastern kingdom make contact with them and see if they can be a good ally for this land. Remember that they are probably ruled by a family and no matter what you see wrong in the capital or the land do not mention it to the ruling family as that can land you in some serious hot water. Let them police their own lands as they will. Let me know when you have more info.
A couple hours later Ariel arrives back with a short message thnaking you for the map updates and that yes making contact with the eastern kingdom is a good start and that to remain cautious still.
Meanwhile the three girls continue to lay out in the suns working on their tans. They are quite a distraction on the crew who still seem to enjoy watching them while trying to do their jobs. The captain seems to enjoy looking at them too.

Wow... that was sad.
Did you not send ping to the stronghold to make a report? He has not returned yet.
