Travis, remembers from the last time when he made the 'dream-berry' wine. He, had already written in his book a handy 'detect poison' spell. In the privacy of his own room. He gets out each of the potions he has just made.
He, reads out the divination spell out loud the words transforming into magic auras over the potions. He, draws upon both his wisdom and knowledge of Apothecary to discern from the magical auras if he has in fact created a poisonous potion or not.
Wisdom # 15
Apothecary # 23
Note: As per the rules he can use both Wisdom and the Alchemy/Apothecary skill. With a DC of 20.
He, is able to recognize the properties of these solutions as a result of his efforts.
Calling out to the others, I point out the giant, in awe of the sheer size of a humanoid I'm seeing. "That wouldn't exist without magic or high tech, that's for damn sure! You'd have to mountain climb to have a conversation with it!"

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
I blink at the news, "Huh, I don't recall any giants that would particularly care to wander around swamps. Well, none other than ogres or ettins, but they're not quite that big I don't think. Perhaps its a variant? Regardless, the type of giant matters a good deal, some of them could easily be allies, others not so much."
I continue to pass the time as we await the end of the voyage.
"Thomas, you've got some knowledge you've picked up about various species and such, don't you? What do you think about that guy?"

i fly back and land quickly back on the ship after seeing the giant striding around. Rejoining the others i say, " I would assume that all of you saw that giant as well. Just amazing... the things we see here. i guess that is all we see of the swamp now. "
Rachel's flyover of the swamp/marsh land does not reveal anything new from what has already been reported. The only oddity is that Neither she or Ping was able to see a giant.
Hearing of the others referencing a giant i frown. " That is weird. Ping and i flew all over and never saw a giant. We were right there and didn't see anything. "
OOC: Please ignore my previous post I didnt know at that time that i wouldn't have seen the giant.
OOC - Just to understand what happened - I was able to show the giant to others on the boat, but the patrolling eagle and Ping saw nothing?

"That is interesting, we'll have to work out what caused the discrepancy somehow. Not much we can do for the moment I think though. Anyone have any ideas?"
Regardless of the answer, or lack of answers, I'll return to whiling the time away on the ship as we proceed towards our destination.
I'll be chatting w/ the group and crew, trying to learn the ins and outs of sailing, navigating while we travel and try to learn the stars and celestial patterns here. I have some paper left so, keep track of where we are, make sure the terrain matches the map, (Mark were someone saw the giant), and try to make a sky map with any input from the crew that travels the river often. I'll do what I can to keep the horses at ease we travel, it's not like there's places for them to go.
I will sunbath for the next day and then stop having burned a little. My days will consist of teaching Caesar to throw rocks and talking to my friends. Each day i will spend some time as a barracuda and swim around and explore alongside the boat. The speed in the water is amazing and the experience is almost as interesting as flight with the eagle.
For the remainder of the trip, I will be working on the magic item, practicing wordplay with the sailors, short meditations to see if I get anything else from the entity and seeing what kinds of magic I can pull from the ether to help the trip pass.

Meanwhile, after waking up for the day Travis will try and discern what he can about the 'so-called' giant really was. He, reads through his mysterious 'so-called' book of prayer. Drawing on his innate "dark knowledge," to try and identify the giant. If, it turns out that the creature is an aberration, or elemental, or magical beast he should be able to identify it.
He, prepares his usual allotment of spells. Except, now including his new 'Flaming sword"spell from the list which he has learnt. After, his morning ritual's he headed down to the ships galley looking forward to another hearty breakfast. He, thanked the chef for the porridge, fruit and fresh mug of hot coffee.
Travis, went onto the main deck then felt his eyes again drawn towards Rachel's curvaceous form sunbathing again. He, didn't see Vicky out there this time.
"Morning, Rachel you know your making jealous when you can change into super animal forms. What's it like being a barracuda? How, is the water clarity down there,"? You, know back on earth I would love to go snorkeling over coral reefs. But, look at us now fighting for our lives on some weird mixed up planet. On, top of all that I'm living a reality as a dungeons and dragons nerd here," he said with a laugh. Trying to look at her face.
I'm laying on the deck eyes closed and am surprised by Travis speaking. I open my eyes and smile up at him as I note his awkwardness . " Coming to join me in catching some sun? Changing into various animal forms is truly hard to explain It is so freeing though. Not limited by your own flesh. Maybe you will be able to shape shift one day with some magic. As to the barracuda earlier... The view wasn't great. The water was very clouded for the most part. It was still fun though. "
I pause for a moment and think about our new world and our old world. " It is funny to think how much things have changed in such a short amount of time for all of us. Living the D & D experience. Yes we are doing that. Are you still hoping to return home or enjoying this world enough to stay like Jason?"
"That's a good question part of me would like to return home to normality. You, know the typical 9 to 5 job just paying bills then going on holiday's," he says sitting down on the deck.
"But, then again seeing power and magic at work in this world. Being able to actually write in an alien language on a piece of parchment. Or, lay hands on the injured and see them recover. Fabricate, poison or wine I'm finding that I need to pinch myself each day. To, tell me that this is all damn real and I'm not some drug induced state," he says, more relaxed.
"But, I can tell you now I wouldn't call what I found a 'prayer book,' by any stretch of the imagination. No, red hymnal found on any dusty pew can do shit like the book I've found," he continued.
"I'm still haunted at times by what happened to the Elven teen in the lake. It, seem's like every damn creature on this weird planet wants to kill us. Well, that is except your fine companion Caesar I'm glad he is on our side though," he adds. He, takes off his shirt lies down on his back. "Well, back on earth at this time 10 minutes exposure would suffice I'm guessing especially without any sunblock. Buggered if I know on this world though. I don't want to end up like a frikken lobster. I don't even know if they have any aloe vera on this world,"? he says before lying down next to her.
I look up at the blue sky above us for a moment before answering him. " I know what you mean. I really miss my friends and family back home. This is an amazing world though. To do the things we roleplayed before....Changing into animals, controlling the elements by a spell, having Caesar as a friend. The things you can do with that prayerbook..Im sure you have only tapped the surface with that. "
I consider my words before continuing. " What we do here matters. It did at home but to a lesser extent. So many less people here and the abilities we have. We can have a huge impact here. The danger though...Assume everything and everyone want to kill you. Most do It is best to play it safe That is one of the things that i drink to forget The stress is immense sometimes. Sunburn...no aloe vera here that i know of. I would suggest being careful with sunbathing here with two suns and all. "
Travis, listens in not wearing his shirt but only jeans. Using his shirt as a pillow. His, wide akubra hat providing shade over his face. Also, rather deliberately and strategically placed over his eyes. So, that his eyes would no longer roam over her feminine form. "Yeah, I agree I'm literally amazed by the things we all are able to do here. Its a bit different than sitting around a dinning table consuming crisps, alcohol or cups of tea. Then, seeing some dude peering over a huge dungeon master screen. Saying, out aloud alright you lot roll perception please," Travis said then chuckled.
"Yeah, it sure is stressful at times I wonder what in the hell did I sign up for. Your, right strange as it may seem there is that inner nagging feeling that I have only scratched the surface from that fancy book of magic. I'm buggered if I know why I have no trouble deciphering strange alien script. I can write shit that can summon a huge damn centipede. But, you and me love the sun. So, when we reach landfall I might try and find if they have any plant here that can function like aloe vera. Shit, we all need it unless I'm mistaken skin cancer might be real on this planet especially with its twin suns," he continued.

He will find that both potions are a powerful poison. He is very glad that he that spell so he did not have to have someone or himself try them.
Those on the ship that rolled a 20 or better will see what maybe a large man walking through the mists. When IU say big I mean giant sized.

Yes that is correct. I am sure all will be revealed at a later time. :)
