The guard tells you to wait a bit. He stands up and enters the door behind him. Looking about the room you can spot some well concealed murder holes. The feeling that there maybe arrows pointed at you is hard to shake. After about ten minutes the big man comes back in and has a seat behind the desk once again. He is followed by a well dressed young man. "Good day to you all my name is Jofel and I am here to escort you to a place where we may talk a bit about what you have to say. If you would be so kind as to follow me." He leads you out the way you came in and turns to the right goes up two streets before turning to the left. You can see that you are getting closer to the castle and soon are in a much better part of town the has larger houese with very clean streets. You can also see more guards patrolling this area. Soon Jofel turns and opens a door to a larger house and beckons you to enter.
I enter the house and casually look around inside. I’m not too concerned with being attacked at this point, but I’m still aware of my surroundings “What a lovely place. And the neighborhood seems well loved, too. “

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
I study our surroundings with curiosity The fact that we are in a nicer part of town makes me feel better. Surely we are safe here and have important news that they will want to hear.
I nod my head as Im introduced but say nothing. Once we are lead out of the building to the better part of town I look around and observe things around me; the people, the guards, the buildings. Once we arrive at Jofel's I enter with the others but only speak when spoken to.
Travis, rejoins the rest and nods his head not saying anything. Then, only speaks when spoken to. He, enters the larger house that is within the castle walls.
Jofel leads you into the sitting room which is to the left of the main hall. There are plenty of seats for everyone to sit as he picks up and rings a small bell. Soon a older man comes in and Jofel orders wine, water and cheese be brought for his guests. As the man nods and leaves Jofel turns to address the party, "I would very much like to hear your story of how you happened to arrive here to seek and audience with our king. I am bit a minor Noble but I have friends in the right places and can petition a Duke who sits on the king's council to see you and then possibly see the king. I have noticed that there is lovely druidess in your party. I will tell you that druids are highly appreciated in the city and they can be a benefit to all. I know that many will try to use her for their own benefit so beware of all the praises as some could be highly disappointed in the long run. I also see that you are in need of proper clothing if you are ambassadors as the clothing and armor you have on you now does not fit what you represent currently."
"Good sir, we are from the new nation I am sure that you have heard about springing up to your Southwest, led by the good lord Douglas. We had the misfortune of arriving here unknowingly in lands claimed by Merklin. He responded by sending an army our way without any kind of warning. We have weathered his attacks and even pushed him back with few casualties on our side so far. Nevertheless, learning more of this world and obtaining allies where we can is a priority. There is something of a temporary truce between us, but we do not believe it will last, especially the more we learn about the abuses he heaps upon his people."
"Our group serves many different functions, but most recently we have been serving as scouts and outriders, mapping the area around our stronghold and fighting to make it safe for our people. Our current role as delegates was somewhat spur of the moment, a decision made when we chanced upon a ship heading this way, hence our attire. We have set a local tailor to making us new clothing suitable for court to remedy that issue, but it will be some time before they are finished. In the meantime, we thought to become acquainted with a few people like yourself, in hopes that you might vouch for our integrity when it comes time to speak to the council and hopefully the king."
As you introduce everyone and yourself to Jofel the older man pushes in a cart with two large pitchers and tumblers upon it along with a tray of breads and cheese. He bows as he leaves shutting the doors so you can have some privacy. Jofel listens to what you have to say and responds. "Have some refreshment please you all are guests here and if you wish to you can leave at any time. I just want you to know that you don't have stay if you wish to leave.". He pauses for a bit to see if anyone who wants to go can. "Well I can say for sure that there has been some rumors of a new nation to our west but no one has dared go across the big lake to see if we could meet this new leader to see if he or she was going to be a problem much like Merklin or a possible ally to help us with the problem of Merklin. What you are telling me is that yes there is a new power in the known part of this world and they could be of assistance to is in the ongoing conflict with Merklin."
Smiling at the generous hospitality, I sample some of the cheeses and bread using any forks or any small implements that may have been provided. Between bites and sips, I’ll listen to the conversation. “We don’t care much for the big M’s methods or messages. So far, he has proved to be arrogant, violent and murderous. We have come off victorious against his forces, so far, but we have proven ourselves to be a formidable threat to him. We have no doubt that he is even now marshaling forces to try and seize our home. Luckily, we are a tough nut to crack. Once we learned of the more moral civilization here, we took advantage of the opportunity to make contact and possibly join forces. Or at least open trading routes.”

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
I stay mostly quiet as i listen to the discussion Shaking my head at the older servant I decline to accept any cheese or bread In the back of my mind I can't bring myself to trust strangers in this world. During a lull in the conversation i ask Jofel, " Why are druids esteemed so highly in a city such as this? That is a little unusual to me. Also, I have a friend of mine.. His name is Caesar He is a very large gorilla but is even tempered. If i had him accompany me to these meetings would that be seen as unseemly? I do not wish to cause alarm with anyone. "
Jorel turns to Rachel and says, "We once had druids that regular came to this city to help us with things that involved nature. Some people back then were scared and they did not like that and the druids were hunted down and killed. We have learned from this mistake since the druids were peaceful and just wished to help others but turned on the city and the nation to where we were almost defeated and homeless. Since that time we made peace with druids and any that come to our nation or city are revered for their abilities and peacfulness with nature. As far as your animal companion it would be welcomed anywhere due to it being a part of you. Does this answer your question?"
I try to hide my surprise snd concern as i listen to this. " Oh, it very much does so. I will be sure to keep him with me at all times then. You are very open and frank with us. I appreciate that. "
I get some of the cheese and wine, but only sip it cautiously, remembering what happened to Kelvin and the dreamberry wine. I sit back down in the seat I was in and listen to the conversation.
I nod as he relates the story of the Druid's involvement with the city. "It's hard to fight against someone who can turn the land and water itself against you. As they are the tenders of the world's balance, we also revere their society. Our Lord would love to have peace in where we've landed, but it seems we've stepped on Merklin's toes. Hard. That's is why we are seeking an audience, so we can put forward our credentials and our willingness."

Jolel looks to all of you, "Yes I am frank with you for one main reason. I have found that being direct means that one usually is direct back towards me and thus we get to the root of the issue rather than just talking around it trying to say something without saying it. As far as getting you an audience with the king that may take some time as I will have to petition a noble friend I have on the council to get you to talk to them and they will then get you an audience. Politics and the kings council is not easy to get into but if you have a knack for it it can happen. Where are you staying so I can send word to you once I make the arrangement of you being able to see my friend on the council?"
I lean into Jason and the others trying to be discreet as I have not been speaking. "We are at the dew drop right? Also, shouldn't we offer a 'gift' to the person doing the introduction?" I shrug, "I'm just thinking of what the captain told us, from what I inferred, it's probably expected but I don't know our 'situation'."
"We have some options on that, and I've a few ideas as to what we offer We should discuss that in private, at the Dew Drop.Master Jofel , do we call you Master, Lord, Sir? What is the appropriate mode of address for your position? We have been informed that there are various stages of our petition, that we need to work our way up the various rungs of your society and speak with those who will. Is it possible to have your undoubtedly experienced insight into the character of those we must sway? Such insight would aid us immeasurably and perhaps help your work on our behalf.".

I nod to Jofel, "Thank you good sir." I enter the home and hope the queasy feeling in my stomach was just normal jitters.
