Seeing the last hobgoblin is well handled, I race back to my horse and gather my bow and quiver, then mount up. Nocking an arrow, I see if any help is needed. Ready to cover the rest of the party's retreat, I put every arrow to proper use.
Run as needed to the horse, fast mount (DC20) and ready bow. Watching and listening for the new foes, I'll fire an arrow if the chatty hob is still standing. Otherwise, I'll shoot at any exposed enemy as we retreat.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
I fire off another two bolts at the last hob, whether or not he remains standing, I call out, "Time to move! There are a lot more coming, get on the horses and head back the way we came!"
Regrettably leaving Thalica's horse where it lies, I pull her up to sit in front of me on Morgenstern. The big horse should have no trouble at all bearing both of our weights. Giving her a quick kiss, I say, "Take the reins my love, I think I'm going to need for my hands to be free."
I call out to everyone as we start moving, "Let's make for the clearing we passed a while back. If they follow us that far, we'll set an ambush and bloody them before disappearing again."
Travis, hears Jason call out to everyone to start moving again. He heads back to his mare, mounts her and retreats back to the clearing with the others.
Including only the first round attack of Travis, post 76# before heading back out on horseback. Cancelling the waiting around, and launching the other three rounds of attacks from post 76#.
With that kind of dense cover, I would have engaged as stated (Using Ranged and Melee as available) but as the fall back command was given, I would do my best to disengage and cover anyone else's retreat.
I hear Jason calling for us to retreat. Ghost and I strike out a couple of times and race to join the others.
OOC: i will attack the stone holder for two turns. I will retreat and join the others at that point. If more hobgoblins arrive before that point we will retreat earlier.
between Rachel, Ghost and a crossbow bolt from Vickie the stone holder is killed. As everyone heads to retreat a pack of Dire wolves comes racing towards the party from the east. I need a ride check from everyone but Rachel or get thrown from the horses due to fright at these large creatures racing towards them. The pack is 12 dire wolves.
Seeing some of the party thrown from their mounts, I reign in Echo and use my last spell for the day, dropping magical caltrops into the path of the charging dire wolves.
Ooc- +2 to hit two 5x5 areas placed as best as possible to impede as many as I can

There are two Dire Wolves who face off in front of Ghost. Rachel can try to change their attitude towards him with a DC check of 13.
OOC: If you recall when ping came back from the mission with the outpost he told you that there were groups of Dire Wolves, Orcs and Hobgoblins that he had to avoid. Plus he stated he heard other things in the night but did not see them to identify them. Thus you could run into more things too.
Seeing the dire wolves appear causes me to grimace in disbelief. I call to the others, " Dont do anything. Give me a chance go talk to them. " Ghost rumbles as he growls at the other wolves. " Ghost, I will talk to them. They can be our friends. " I look towards the huge wolves who are almost eye to eye with me. " Hello. We are your friends. I am friends with one of you. We mean you no harm. I am a friend of all animals and a protector of the wild. " I say all of this in a soothing tone. My stomach knots up in nervousness.
I smile as the wolves seem like they won't attack now. Riding Ghost over to the other dire wolves I try to convince them as well. " I am your friend. I am a guardian of nature. I know that you are hungry and need to eat. Please chase after our fleeing horses and eat them and leave us be. We mean no harm to any of you. " I watch them closely for their reaction.
I stay on my horse and rear it about behind the group with my sword across my lap making it obvious that I would protect this one by glaring at any wolf that looked my way.
Travis, suddenly falls as he is thrown from his horse as the mare is spooked and frightened off by the approaching Dire wolves. He finds himself, on the ground without a ride, and defenseless.
Roll for Ride = 1
OOC I need KN to advise if Travis is able to get up, from his present position. Perform an action, or move, as his ride skill roll was a critical fail.
The world goes crazy for a moment as Morgenstern rears and I lose my grip. Landing heavily, I get up and look around to see what spooked the normally steadfast horse. I tense up as I see not only the crazily huge pack of dire wolves, but that I was far from the only one to take a fall.
On seeing Rachel step up, I call out to the others, "Group together, present a cohesive front. Be a rock that they won't get what they want from easily and give her a chance to work this out."
I pull out the fireball scroll I had made recently. I seem to go through these as fast as I make them, I definitely need to figure out how to make wands.
I will update this after I get a good list of who fell off their horses. I see that Travis did and Jason did. Please put in a post whether you fell off or not. I know Rachel is immune to this as Ghost is a little bit bigger than the Dire wt they are still large creatures standing over 5 feet in height. Rachel did cause the two in front of her and Ghost to be more friendly towards you. I understand Thalica is still on Jasons horse. As far as getting up after falling from your horse you will have to make a movement check. I will also need a D100 roll from everyone who fell from their horses to make sure you did not land wrong and take some damage. Please post that in here too.
Still holding off on any offense until the situation gets sorted out, I steady Echo and awaiting any aggression.
Ooc - riding.

Those that stay on their horses take a bit to calm them down as Rachel tries to make sure the Dire wolves do not attack you. Of those that fell off thier horses they were able to fall and not get hurt to bad 3 points of damage each. A dire wolf goes on a chase at the fleeing riderless horses. Count those horses and being gone. Rachel is able to get a couple more dire wolves to not attack you.
As all of this is happening you hear the crashing of bodies running up behind you from the north as you try to put on a united front to the Dire Wolves. The Dire Wolves growl and those almong them that Rachel appeased along with one more head past you to attack the Hobgoblins. that leaves 5 Dire wolves in front of you. What are your next actions?
Travis, checks himself and discovers that he got out of this one with minor cuts and bruises. He gets up, hears Jason tell the others to stay calm, and not act aggressively.
He has his right hand near, his morning star but doesn't draw it out, trying to stay still, and not show any fear to the creatures.
