After a mumbled conversation with Bastion, he decides to leave the stone behind where it is on the top floor. He tries asking his jackal to find a scent so they know which way there's been movement or where the stench of death emanates from.

Rivoril Looks to the right and sees the corridor heading straight. The Jackal does not sense any undead nor does Katharina. The jackal seem to sense the most recent traffic went straight here but some did go right too.
Kixarn shyly puts up his hand and says once attention is on him “Could they have put fewer that way to lead us away from importance or vampire dens? I’d say follow the lesser group because of this. “

Avan motions with an open hand for the rear to catch up and follow. With more passages revealed he fears that even his Stone of Alarm would be avoided and an ambush is inevitable. The only way to survive would be to stick closely together.
He whispers to the rear, "let the boys come into our formation. I would prefer someone experienced be rear guard. Try to keep up."
He worries about how many spells he'll have to cast to prepare for combat, so he takes the opportunity now to transforms into his favourite form, a black bear.
Katharina moves up close to Avan as he gestures. After he speaks she nods. " I will bring the rear of the group closer. It would be better if we didn't advertise our presence for all to see with that light. We can only do what we can do though. Have no fears regarding the rear. I will keep us safe there. "
With a wave of her hand and a kukri flourish she vanishes reappearing at the back again. She bunches the teens in closer.
She used the shadow jaunt maneuver to teleport. Kat will meditate as she walks to regain the manuever.

I forgot to write in the last post, but I did think of it then, that Avan would have dropped his arrow with Light to avoid it being melded into his body, then picked it up in his bear-form's maw.
Avan-bear grumbles and shakes his head, motioning back, but unable to explain his reasoning.
Bastion frowns at Avan's reluctance, he quietly says, "There could easily be enemies or something of importance behind the door, and checking it won't take long." If the bear doesn't insist on heading elsewhere after that, he'll say, "Riv, check it, quickly."
Avan drops his lit arrow, and then grumbles an incantation. Placing a paw on the arrow, it grows in brightness as Daylight takes hold. He turns his head and points a paw at Kixarn, nodding once and letting out a short growl, and then again at Dena.
