The night in Redcliffe is difficult for Perry. He has trouble sleeping and can't seem to get the haunting memories of the frozen castle of the undead out of his mind. The restless bard lies awake in bed with his eyes open, staring into the void above. He turns his head and looks towards his mandolin and swords leaning up against the wall on the far side of the room. A few hours pass, but eventually he falls asleep.
---
As the group nears the coast and heads towards Baldur's Gate, Perry meets them all in the kitchen for breakfast as he usually does. Unusual for him, he eats quietly and has a serious expression on his face this morning.
"Good morning everyone, I have an announcement to make if you'll hear it. I have some urgent business that I need to take care of, and it's going to take me a few days. Now, now, there's no need for alarm, there are just some loose strings from the past that I need to take care of. Shadowsnacks and I can make good time if we leave early and we'll be back before you know it!" the bard exclaims enthusiastically.
"I will rendezvous with you all in Baldur's Gate in a few days."
If there are no objections, I will mark the alchemy jug and the portable bazaar down on my sheet for Perry.
Maccath the Crimson opens up a bit more as she recovers from her ordeal. She willingly shares her knowledge of the Draakhorn, both what she learned from legend and from the brief time she was able to study it directly. Apparently its call can be heard over great distances, though it can only be heard by dragons or dragonkin. Aside from being useful for broadcasting messages, it imparts a mild compulsory effect on all of Tiamat's children, not dissimilar to a mass suggestion spell. Maccath suspects that the eldest Chromatics are essentially immune to this effect, and the experienced adults may or may not resist, but the younger members of such will more than likely obey the message even if they would not otherwise have chosen to, at least if the order is not greatly against their nature.
She spends a good bit of time talking this over with Lawrance, along with other matters of magical theory.
---
The flight to Baldur's Gate goes smoothly enough. The city is largely as you left it, though there is one notable difference from the last time you were here. Upon confirming who you are, the guards at the gate, members of the famous Flaming Fists mercenary band, assign you an escort to keep an eye on you. It seems they remember your last visit here.
No I'm not skipping Perry's side jaunt or anything else people want to do, just keeping things moving.
Poljen smiles broadly when they are assigned watchers. He says to Morgaine, "These men are guards. They are to protect the villains of this city from the Silver Blaze! Me especially! Ha! Come along then! We have shopping to do, and food and drink to down. Follow along, and keep up!" He beckons the Fists to follow...
He also keeps a weather eye out for anyone following them.
Golem parts, undead dragon parts, bone swarm parts, white dragon rib, In the discussions about the horn, Lawrence asks McCath whether the messages that are delivered by the device have to be in a specific language. “If we silenced the user, would the effect be suppressed?what about if they couldn’t speak intelligibly?” As he tries to find ways of negating the Horns potency.

in Baldurs Gate, he heads to the Wizards quarter purposefully , staff in hand and familiar on his shoulder. “We need to get those spells, in case we go forward with that plan.I wish Penelope were along to help bargain . I’m out of my depth negotiating prices .
Ooc - he will try to buy Magic Aura and a basic mask similar to the Artifacts. He will be trying to sell some of the monster parts he’s accumulated during adventures - undead dragon, golem, bone swarm parts as well as the white dragon rib bone

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Lia smiles happily as Baldur's Gate approaches. " Shopping time Velon and Mari. I need more Dragon Slaying Arrows and another diamond. " She glances at Velon quickly. Lia will head to the markets immediately with Mari and Velon if he accompanies them.
Mari looks down apprehensively as they approach. '" Can't look like like this i suppose. " She uses her hat of disguise to look like a voluptous redhead of about the same height. " That should do. " She laughs and relaxes a bit.
Ooc: She will try to sell the Staff of the Python. Lia will shop for 3 arrows of dragon slaying and a 1000 gp diamond.
Maccath shakes her head. "No specific language, but the magic seems to be such that if the one hearing it doesn't understand, it doesn't enable understanding or have the suggestive effect, so Draconic would logically be the best language to use. I think silencing the speaker would prevent them from using the horn, but not negate previous instructions. We might be able to devise a ritual to limit the area the horn can reach, but even so, I can't think of a way to do it without using mages to effectively encircle the region with the horn with the magic of said ritual. We would have to know where it is and do a lot of prep work."

The group finds Baldur's Gate much as it was when they left it, the markets bustling with merchants and pickpockets alike.
As usual, you can assume that anything less than a Rare magic item is readily available. Let me know about anything Rare or higher that you're hoping to pick up. Also when sure of what you want to grab, whoever's leading the negotiations make a diplo check.
OOC - Lawrance will purchase Arcanist's Magic Aura, Dragon's Breath, Arcane Lock and Cloud of Daggers. Depending on the mask price, he'll get that as well. Depending on funds, of course.

Morgaine can't help but grin at Poljen as he states that the guards are there to protect the villagers from the Silver Blaze and especially him. She follows him easily enough as they walk through the town. She states thst she wants to pick up a couple more dragon slaying arrows before they depart. She also keeps an eye out for anything out of the ordinary.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Velon is not surprised that they will now be escorted and watched in Baldur's Gate from now on after their antics during their previous visit. It is still a bit annoying, however, to have an audience as he does simple tasks like heading to the market area with his companions. In the absence of Perry the paladin has to employ his own charm to try to save the group some coin, appealing to each vendor as he sees fit but in general being his usual jovial self, complimenting their goods, and ultimately telling them he's busy trying to save the world and keep his companions alive long enough to do so.
Haggling Persuasion: 22
Velon himself buys twenty potions of healing, three superior potions of healing, and two magical feather tokens as single use insurance policies if he falls off of a dragon, Shadowsnacks, magical flight or anything else of the like.
Once the group is done shopping he leads them to see Mr Creel.
Unaware at the poor bargain made during the trading, Lawrance clutches the spells and mask, putting them into his pouch. "I've never met this Mr. Creel, have I? Is he someone special to the Blaze? What's his connection with all this?"

Lia glances at Lawrance. " We have known Mr Creel for quite some time. He is one of the more involved of the Harpers in the Realms He works to thwart the cult as well. His offer of goldpieces to escort a caravan to Greenest is what first drew us into this struggle against the Cult of Tiamat. Before that we were an ordinary mercenary company making a profit where we might. Since we met Mr Creel we have been dealing with the cult non stop. Maybe one day the Blaze will be able to return to it's normal business....We encountered him a second time here when Poljen got us all involved in a rather unfortunate event. " She grins.
Poljen grins. "It was unfortunate for them! Ha!" He turns to Lawrence. "We had realized I was being followed every time we came to this city. So Niko and I set up an ambush. I allowed myself to walk, staggering as if the worse for drink, and they tried to kidnap me. We fought back and tried to learn who was behind it all. But so far, the guards have spoken with Bodunk the Shark, who hired the men who attacked, and he claimed he did the business through blind drops and so forth." He pauses then adds, "Maybe after we meet with Creel we can pay Bodunk a visit. He might be more...forthcoming if the Blaze spoke to him face to face."
One of the guards speaks up, "The gentleman you are referring to is a respected citizen of this city. It is a regrettable accident that you came to blows with some of his people, but he has apologized for his part of the matter, and even refused to press charges over yours. I certainly hope you would not seek to cause even more trouble by seeking him out."
---
Mr Creel's office is just as you left it last time. Sparse and utilitarian for the most part, as dry and drab as the thin man sitting at the desk. The Harper spymaster has always seemed frail, but today he looks quite plainly exhausted. Nevertheless, he puts on a wan smile as you enter, "Greetings once more. I trust your visit up north was not too difficult? I don't suppose I could convince you to sit for a debriefing? Oddly enough reports from the affairs of that region are rather sparse."
Poljen shrugs. "It was worth a thought, I suppose. Perhaps our friend Mr. Creel can shed light on matters for us." When they meet with Creel, Poljen allows the others to take the lead.
Back when Mari changed her disguise, specifically her hair, Velon comments "VERY nice." "Everyone knows red is the best color. It is a testament to Lia that she is still the most beautiful woman in the realm even without it!" He winks at Mari and laughs to himself.
Velon also chuckles as Lia refers to Poljen's private war with street thugs as an 'unfortunate event'. The paladin seems to be returning to his old self after having had quite a few days to recover from his beyond-near-death experience. To the guard he replies "don't worry, we'll leave Mr. Bojangles alone." He drives home the point to the rest of the Blaze by adding "I think the one war we're in for the fate of the realm is enough for now."
"Greetings Mr. Creel. No, not to difficult at all, actually. I slept through half of it, actually... We made some new friends." Velon considers whether Creel's interest is purely because it's his job to know such things or if there is more behind it, such as gathering information for their enemies, before telling him a bit of their tale. He is intentionally vague about their exact status with Old White Death and leaves out his interest in exacting revenge on the cult at some point. He is also vague about anything pertaining to Maccath that he wouldn't already know in order to protect her.
"Do tell us more about this bargain that has been struck with the Zhents, how the exchange will be handled, and how we might help."
(Would like to do an Insight check on Creel during this discussion just to make sure his interest is all on the up and up.)
Morgaine goes with Poljen to the meeting with Mr Creel as well as the other members of the Blaze that decide to go. She stays silent as she lets others speak of the things they have done. She will only speak if spoken too. She stands there and recalls the first time she saw the thin Mr. Creel and what transpired not long afterward; there is a small smile on her face as she glances at Poljen thinks of that time, not so long ago.
Mari blushes at Velon's comment. Lia eyes him momentarily wondering if that was an insult or compliment. She breaks into a big smile. " Thank you Velon. Maybe I will have to dye my hair red for you one day. "
Addressing Creel she says, " It is truly good to see you again Mr Creel. Much has happened since we first met before our journey to Greenest. Many of our companions have fallen but we press on. "
Velon laughs again. "No no, you are too perfect, my dear. The only thing that trumps the beauty of my red locks is you." He runs his fingers through his hair to further accentuate his exaggerated appreciation of his own looks all while continuing to grin.
In the meeting Velon eagerly awaits Creel's explanation of the exchange that is to take place.
