Perry spends a good deal of time conversing with the plover. To the rest of the Blaze, it just sounds like random chirping and squaking, with the occasional kakraw mixed in. Once the conversation has concluded, Perry wears a serious expression on his face as he reports to Velon what he has learned.
"Boss, I think you may be interested in what this bird had to say. It could be of vital importance to this mission. Apparently there is a monstrous crab terrorizing the local plover population. They call him Citizen Snips and he has been stealing their eggs for who knows what porpoise. Also, people do show up from nearby with suspicious nets and long sticks with thin, almost translucent string tied to them. I fear the Zhents have more sophisticated weaponry than we once thought," Perry says.
Velon had long since folded his arms and was just giving a cold stare at anyone who suggested they go off on their own a mile away without means of communicating with the others, use highly visible and unpredictable wyverns for a stealth mission, etc. when Lia chimed in and corrected Mari. He was relieved as he had been fighting the urge to be overtly sarcastic and argumentative about it like pre-death Velon would have. Eventually he settled in and relaxed while rotating scouting duties upon the hill.
As Perry makes his report Velon tries to hide his amusement and replies with false concern, all while stroking his beard and looking down at the ground. "I see Perry, indeed, indeed. This cannot be taken lightly. I've heard the only way to combat a monstrous crab employed by the Zhents and armed with invisible string is with an equally well armed giant crab of our own. If only we had such magic, and someone was well practiced in using these other forms." Velon slowly looks between Perry and Mari, back and forth. He eventually smirks.
When the ship arrives and seems out of place, Velon asks Perry, Lawrance and the rest "ok, who has magic to spare to invisibly fly overhead, take a head count of those men and report back on what they are up to?" "Is Shadowsnacks up to the task?"
As the fishing vessel arrives, Poljen casts his ritual so he may see through the eyes of his pet eagle. He then sends the bird out. Fortunately eagles are known to love fish. He plans to have Trammet circle the cove, as if hunting. Eagles hunt from on high so the action is normal. Granted Trammet might not be the type of eagle usually seen in these parts, so he does not intend for the bird to get too close. But during this initial recon, he hopes to identify, by actions of the crew, anyone on the vessel that appears to be giving orders. He won't be surprised if the ship has a captain running it, as well as a most important passenger...
Answering Velon, Lawrance replies "I could make both Perry and his steed invisible, if he takes my Robe and uses it with his steed for mobility. Then they could fly around and check things out for an hour before it fades. The Robe would expose any invisible people as well as any watching spells or the like."
OOC - Invisibility @ 3rd for two targets.

After giving Perry his Robe and instructing him on it's use, Lawrance asks him "Please be careful with it. It's one of my favourite things and has been very useful to me." Once Perry has spent the needed time with it. Lawrance casts his spell on the waiting Pegasus and rider, watching as they both fade into the air and smiles. "I always love that spell, when I can use it outside of combat. The ultimate sneaky! Remember, you only have an hour before the spell will be forced to fade out. You'll have to come back and let me recast it. Don't get caught spying on someone!""
“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Perry's quick recon of the area on shadowsnack's back does not reveal any hidden secrets. He and Trammet spend some time observing the newly arrived vessel. A fair sized group of people have come ashore, and are currently conversing with the villagers. The conversation appears to be pleasant enough. After a few minutes, the villagers disperse to their homes. It looks like they are packing up their belongings.
Perry communicates to the group over the link and relays what happened. "Looks like some people came on a boat, talked to the villagers, and now the villagers are packing up to leave. Not sure what was said. What do you think? Was it a threat? Payment to leave? Mind control? Are they harvesting the villagers to be mindless husks led by the devious Citizen Snips? Anyway, what do you want me to do now? Try to talk to a villager somehow or come back or...something else?"
"Good work Perry. I'd love to know which group is populating the village with their own people. Could be Zhents, could be Harpers, could be cultists or red wizards. I'd suggest you could impersonate one of them, but surely the villagers all know each other already, as do the members of that ship's crew."
Perry says over the mental link, "Okay so, here is my idea. Step 1) I can go down and try eavesdrop from within the village while invisible to see if I can get a sense of what's going on by what the villagers who are packing up are saying. Step 2) If that doesn't prove fruitful, I can infiltrate while disguised as a villager and use my wonderful powers of persuasion to get information. Step 3) If Step 2 fails or I get in trouble, I will use magic to get info or force my way out. How does that sound? Also, would you like to join me on this mission, my apprentice?"
Adding his own thoughts "You only have a limited time from the invisibility and the telepathy, so be quick. We'd hate to have to rescue you from some overly amorous Thay wizard. Their seduction practices are...unconventional. I'd actually suspect the Harpers over any other group considering the relatively peaceful evacuation that seems to be going on."
OOC- not sure how much time is actually remaining.

Mari smirks at Perry and then grins. " Yes, your apprentice would love to go. This is my type of mission. Maybe turn me into Citizen Snips. He is a legend in these parts. " She laughs and shakes her head. " You know i am only joking right? I really don't wish to be anything but myself right now. "
Lia eyes them thoughtfully before speaking. " Be careful you two. Don't make the Chosen of Bahamat have to come in and rescue you singlehandedly " She winks at Velon.
Perry and Mari make for the village, making full use of the invisibility spells. Perry trips over a rack entering the village, but fortunately those around are too busy to do more than glance in his direction. In listening in, Mari quickly determines a couple of things. The villagers are being paid well to go on a vacation for a couple of weeks. The newcomers are talking amongst themselves about emulating their behavior to fit in, while watching for "trouble".
Mari waits until they are in a secluded part of the village. Speaking in a whisper she says, " Perry, we still don't know who these people work for. What do you want to do? This spell won't last long We need to either head back soon or have a plan ready for when we become visible. "
As Mari and Perry discuss what to do, one of the newcomers pass relatively close by. He looks like he's concentrating on a spell as he sweeps through the village. As he gets close to the infiltrators, he pauses, and blows on a signal whistle. People from the ship start rushing in your direction.
Jumping the gun a tiny bit on Perry reporting back that they've been spotted because I have time to post now and may not for the next three days. Going away for the weekend.
Velon curses and looks away from his efforts to spy on the tiny village from afar while he thinks. "I'm sure Perry can come up with something to say, but the presence of another group here has already been revealed to them and we shouldn't risk leaving Perry and Mari in the hands of our enemies. I've been practicing something privately with Sinternal..." Velon reached out a hand each to Poljen and Lia to touch them on the shoulder but thinks better of it, thinking of Lia's broom and Poljen's speed. "Surely the rest of you can catch up, actually." He instead touches Morgaine and Lawrance and utters a word in draconic. "Stay low in case I lose the spell, especially those of you who are not powerful wizards." He looks at Morgaine. "I'd hate to send you crashing to your death on my account! Sorry I haven't had time to practice with everyone." With that Velon stands, hefting his shield, his hammer and other weapons already on his back or belt. He begins to rise into the air and the large, fiery, incorporeal dragon wings once again unfurl from his back as he takes off high in the sky towards the tiny village.
Slowly descending from a high vantage point over the tiny settlement, Velon takes a quick count of the people he can see there before landing about 100ft away from any of the new 'villagers'. His hammer still on his back, he pulls out an apple and slowly and casually walks towards those in villages center, the wings folding and disappearing once more. Once Morgaine and Lawrance have landed he also drops his flying spell and casts a spell of protection on himself to display a shimmering shield of divine energy all around him. The paladin takes a bite of his apple and says casually "everything ok here?" "It's a nice day and I was enjoying my lunch."
Fly at 5th level, and the Divine Shield once the three of us have landed.
If anything changes drastically, such as Perry and Mari already being in a fight for their lives by the time we arrive, I'll edit the latter half of my post. Just getting it in while I can.
Lia jumps up in worry. " Well.. this didn't take long to escalate. " She jumps astride her broom abd soars skyward. Lia examines the village and heads down when Velon does. As she alights she places her broom on her back yet again. Gazing at her beautiful new bracelet she summons it's power. Velon can feel more protective energy surging into him.
Mari scowls as the whistle summons reinforcements. Concentrating again to make sure she is still in her redhead disguise she thinks quickly. She draws both blades and moves a little closer to the one that discovered them. Mari knew without a doubt that if these were enemies she would kill the wizard as a bit of payback.
Unfamiliar with being affected by another's magic, at first Lawrance is unsteady in the air as he rises. Soon gaining his 'wings' he speeds off after Velon and Morgaine, enjoying not having to concentrate of fly, while still maintaining the distant invisibility spell. Landing beside Velon, he looks around unconcerned. Prepared to react, but not expecting too much trouble. Keeping a few paces behind Velon as they approach, he grins at the pretense.

Velon broadcasts over the mental link "let's try not to kill anyone, gang." "Even just upsetting the Zhents could ruin this deal before it ever happens. Perhaps some of Lawrance's walls and Perry's enchantments are best if they give us trouble, and perhaps the broad side of Poljen's sword, of course!"
Mari and Perry see the newcomers come running up to the one who'd blown the whistle. In response to Mari approaching the mage, he backs off and casts another spell, causing a solid wall of ice, about ten feet high, to form around the pair of invisible spies.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

However, the bard's mental communication is quickly interrupted as a lone rando abruptly arrives wielding some sort of bizarre and incredibly rare detection spell, seemingly managing to get within detection distance while also being completely unnoticed by both invisible heroes. "Oh...OH NOOOO!" Perry panics over the line. "The plovers have been spotted. I REPEAT, THE PLOVERS HAVE BEEN SPOTTED! I'll do my best to stall, but the eggs have been compromised!"
"Alright Mari, looks like the our shells have been cracked, it's time for plan B. We need to stall for a bit here. Running away or doing something hostile would only end poorly at this point. Things seem benign for now so let me do the talking for a bit."
Perry drops his invisibility and puts his hands up. He is currently disguised as a crab fisher similar to the locals. "Whoa whoa, easy there hombre. Just a worker on behalf of the Silver Blaze here. We were noticin' somethin fishy goin' on round these parts what with the villagers leaving relatively peacefully and whatnot. Just wantin' to make sure everythin's alright and hunky-dory before the negotiations begin. Now we don't need any trouble, just let me know who you are and what you're doing before this escalates any further, fer everyone's sake."

I'm assuming it takes a little time for this guys reinforcements to arrive. If this person doesn't respond truthfully to Perry within 12 seconds from this persuasion roll, Perry will use the Suggestion to force him to reveal who he is, who he's working for, and what they just did. I can RP that if necessary if/when it's needed. They will need to make a DC 19 Wisdom saving throw at disadvantage to pass.
