(OOC So the unlocked children starting to pick up weapons and have begun to congregate around the wooden wall at the top of the stairs. The two bodies of Chad and Kyle were searched but not very thoroughly. Rustler is watching the stairs to the crypts and can hear people coming. Chirpee and Vignar are still in the storage room which is around the corner and down the hall (far enough it would take 2 rounds to dash there and 2 rounds to dash back, George has picked up a morning star and is standing a few feet away from Rustler. I imagine that Carmir is at the bottom of the stairs (leading up) working to unlock chains. Cinders is up with the kids?.. by the door? Carmir would know that Cinders has a whole bunch of keys.. if he wanted to shout to see if any of them work on the chains)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rustler continues to hold a shot, but glances once or twice in nervousness to George. Again, he racks his brains for a scenario -- any scenario he recalled either Chad or Kyle might've called out in paranoia to try and draw someone from hiding. Whether he succeeds or not, the first thing that "sounded" right gets replicated more than loudly enough for the others to catch the warning.
(OOC what kind of warning are you looking for? something like "Move it filthblood" "Get out here or I'll Crush yer skull!" "keep your dirty claws where I can see them!" "Hey! What are you doing over there!?"...... I will let you take your pick)
Cinders snarls at George before walking back to Carmir. As he does so, he puts his hands in his pockets. With a look of embarrassment, Cinders speaks up, "Umm Carmir? I kinda forgot I had these.." he trails off holding up a key ring, "would one of these work?"
As Carmir takes the keys, he is able to quickly find one that unlocks the chains, quickly moving from one person to the other until the last of the manacles are unlocked. As Rustler shouts dow the hallway, the only response he gets is louder sound of scraping and dragging footsteps as they get closer.
An increasingly more nervous Rustler steps back from the stairway, having remembered the shadows from earlier. Though he will continue to keep the crossbow trained on the entryway of the stairwell at least, he keeps moving until he is on the far wall from it, shaking his head. "There she is, my boy! Rising from the depths just like I promised ya! Quick! Get me more chum least she lose interest in the Sea Dog." He says in the aged, seafearer's voice.

As Carmir makes quick work with the keys, he is able to free the last of the prisoners. All the while the sounds of footsteps and shuffling and scraping continue to get louder. As the last of the chains fall to the floor, a dark figure rounds the staircase towards the kenku. Rustler quickly fires off a crossbow bolt towards the hulking creature wearing battered and bloodstained platemail.
The bolt flies and lands hard into the eye socket of the zombie, sending his head snapping backwards for a moment before it returns to its slow march towards all of you. After a few more steps, it lets out a loud roar as coagulated blood falls from its mouth and splatters on the floor. Although you have never seen a normal zombie before.. you get the feeling that this one is considerably more dangerous than your average zombie...
After the zombie lets out its roar, the voice of Cassandra can be heard screeching up the steps. "I knew there were more! Kill them all!"
(Your last short rest was in the storage room a while ago... I don't think you guys have had a long rest since finding Carmir but I could be wrong.)
George manages to land a solid blow against the hulking zombie, connecting hard but it seems unconcerned. Looking up, the young minotaur sees the bloody face of Vruuk snarling back at him. The last of the prisoners run up the spiral staircase and begin scratching and clawing at the wooden wall blocking their path.. searching for a way to get it to open and unconcerned about the noise they are making in doing it as the terrifying creature makes its way towards them....
(@Wreck: Time for some initiative rolling, or folk gotta get wise and pull something outta there but? :o Because I think I got a dumb plan for Rustler if he can see the lady that isn't likely to work.)
(ooc: As your DM, I would ask "Are you sure you want to fight this zombie?", I am always willing to let you guys do whatever you want.. for better or worse. Any further attacks would need to be made in initiative. The zombie is slow for sure.. but it is going to start attacking here soon. Cassandra cannot be seen yet, you get the impression she is controlling the zombie amd is a bit farther down the stairs AMD out of sight.
(@Wrecks: It is less a 'want' and more a 'what else we got' at this point. Both ways are blocked in some fashion or another, as far as I can tell. There is probably some trick to get past the stairway door, buuuut that place is a little too congested atm with chil'ren. Sure, people can push past if Cinder doesn't step up(presumed closer atm), but its a worry it'll compound the issue.)

Carmir shouts, "Any of those keys work on the chains?"
