Vruuk on the other hand is startled by a booming voice coming from a silver robed woman standing in the center of the scaffolding in the center of the room. "What kind of Trash do we have here..." She would say with a sinister smile as two large hulking figures seem to materialize from behind her and stand on either side her. Vruuk doesn't recognize any of their faces or the womans voice but the robes they are wearing and their sizes and stature are like those of the three people they had hired the thugs to burn down your parents house. "You'll make a nice rug beast and I'll feed you to the dogs... and after the dirty pups are finished opening the tomb of the silver mother.. I'll put them down like the mongrels they are too!" The children in the pit at the bottom of the scaffolding begin crying as the booming voice fills the chamber. As the woman yells she waves a silver staff in her hands, causing black mist to pour from two of the crypts nearby the bugbear as shadows materialize from the mist. Before I dirty my hands with your blood... perhaps some of Shektra's original followers would like the oppertunity to slay a dirty filth-blood one last time..." She would say with a snarl.
So as the bugbears disappear out the door and downstairs, Cinders and Carmir are able to hear the sounds of people stomping around and moving above them. They get the idea that the service has ended and that most of the congregation are leaving as it goes fairly quiet from above. They also are able to make out the sound of what they think might be yelling based on the tone of the voice they can hear but they cannot actually make out anything that is being said. The kenku remains unconscious and breathing steadily... even though it is a bit shallow and labored.
Pokim continues to race down the stairs and is able to hear everything that has been said and shouted. He would recognize the voice as the woman he met in the church the night he pretended to be a prisoner.
(Chad) The silver robed men flanking Cassandra lower their hoods. The man on the right yells out as he pulls a vial from his belt. "I bet yer the monster that scared my kid! You'll pay for that" The muscular figure would then heave the vial through the air towards Vruuk.
Attack: 16 Damage: 2
The vial slams into the ground near the bugbear covering the stone floor in flames.
(Shadow1) The Shadow to the left of the bugbear seems to disappear into the black smoke billowing from the ground before quickly reemerging behind the bugbear in a wisp of smoke. The black creature will swipe towards the bugbear but he is able to quickly duck out of the way of the black clawed hand....
(Kyle) "Where did you learn to throw!" The other silver robed guard would shout as he pulled a large crossbow from his back and leveled it towards the bugbear. With a heavy trigger pull, he would fire a bolt towards Vruuk.
Attack: 11 Damage: 1
(Forgot shadow attack roll Attack: 18 Damage: 11
(shadow2) The second shadow attacks from the right side, swooping close and lunging towards Vruuk.
Attack: 22 Damage: 10 necrotic damage
As Vruuk dodges the multiple attacks coming from every direction, the second shadow catches him offguard and manages to swipe its black cold claws against the back of the bugbear. Its claws seemingly pass through the armor and each finger feels like a scythe of ice tearing through his flesh... And although there is no immediate cut or blood as the creatures hand re-appears outside the armor plate, large clumps of hair begin falling out the bottom of the plate armor as the bugbears flesh begins to rot while still attached to his bones. Vruuk can feel his body strength begin leaving his body as the spectral hand leaves him. (Vruuk... please remove 1 points of strength....)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"O' please, old man. Ya ain't got a leg to stand on there!" Vruuk barks back, looking ready to charge Chad for a moment. The shadows swarming in gives him pause a second time. Despite trying to ward it off using one of his mother's parrying maneuvers, having the hand just go >through< him left him almost as shaken as the cold that swept through as supernatural strength swiftly fled the form.
For a moment, he Vruuk experiences clarity...
Wisdom Save(DC 10): 17.
But it proves fleeting, and far too ineffective once the rattle of chains reaches his ears. Vruuk takes a deep breathe(Second Wind), hardens his resolve, then lets out a roar as he swipes Shadow2. "Yaw'll gonna pay fer steal'n my family!"
Bonus Action: Second Wind - 10 HP regained.
Action: Scimitar Attack: 10 Damage: 8.
For those that were curious, I lowered the DC from the usual 15 to 10 largely due to the effects of the shadow bypass of his supernatural endurance. If it was just silver and I presume holy water(alchemist fire?), it would've remained the same.
(OOC: it is alchamists fire.. very similar to what was used in the attempt to burn down your parents house. You are not undead so I don't THINK holy water would do anything against you. Pokim is up! Also Cinders and Carmir can post at will. If you do tooo much some of it will have to take place inbetween rounds. )
As Vruuk slashes with his blade, he manages to slice clean through the shadow with a faint hiss. The creature would recoil slightly as the blade passes through the figure but would remain ready to strike!
Pok'im comes up behind Vruuk. "What that horrible black thing the went through you Vruuk? Never mind Pok'im pound'im anyway" as enters a rage (bonus action) and swings Ma's warhammer two handed it almost as if he was belting a stake into the ground (Attack: 11 Damage: 13)

OOC: how long do you think it would take for Cinders to get the injured sibling back to the friendly wereboar? I was gonna suggest cinders will do that. I am aware Cinders will miss this combat at least.
OOC 2: Or if Carmir things the Kenku is healthy enough, Cinders will do it after.
Carmir picks up the kenku and looks at Cinders. "I'm —" His eyes fall on Vignar. "Sparks — your dog — do you think it could take her to safety? Carry her somewhere? How smart is it?"
OOC: So Grekor is quite a ways outside of town and you are in the middle of town. In order to get the kenku there you would have to at least find a way into town first from below the church. You might be able to take advantage of the dog to help get the kenku to safety for sure... I mean Cinders is a small creature and could ride it.. and the mastiff is strong enough it could easily carry cinders and the kenku.. but the dog has never been to the friendly wereboar's house before so it wouldn't know how to get there without someone guiding him. There would also be some animal handling checks since he would be doing things he hasn't done before.. and you know what happens if those go badly ;} }
Cinders turns to Carmir, "Vignar is still learning. He would be able to carry our sibling out but I would need to go with him. How about I take her to the city watch station? They will surely help look after her?"
OOC: DM is the only way out that we know back through the basement?
"I really don't like the idea of you going off on your own," Carmir says somewhat quietly, looking down the hall. "What if you run into trouble?" he asks at a normal tone, turning to look at the kobold. He looks down at the kenku in his arms. If he were the lip-chewing type, he'd be chewing his lip. He finally extends his arms toward Cinders. "O — OK."
DM, will Carmir be able to hear combat noises coming up the stairs from the battle below once he's outside the "cell"?
ooc: the only way you know for sure would be to go back through the basement and cave back to your house which would be the opposite direction from Greckor's house and take a long time. You would know that if the stairs leading upward led into the church, that you could make it to the city watch in just a few minutes.... but you run the risk of encountering other hostile people... If you guys leave the cell you could hear the sound of combat yes. It will take you two rounds of dashing down the stairs to reach them.
As Pokim gets to the bottom of the stairs, he lunges and take a swing at the shadow. The moment the hammer slams into the black floating figure, holy symbols come to life and radiate light fie a moment as the shadow is driven into the ground with the force if the blow before it recoils and reforms next to the bugbears....
Cassandra is up but I don't think inhave time to do the post right now.
Cinders looks to Carmir for Help. "Big brother, I just don't know what to do. If I go I will be gone along time and I don't know if I will be able to find you guys again. But if I don't go, our sibling might die!"
"Sit Mongrel" Cassandra will command to the new arrival as she points to Pokim. "Kyle... Chad... get over there and finish them" She would say looking to the two guards flanking her as she lets out a sinister laugh.
Make a wis save of 11 pokim or sit on the ground (considered prone)
** Then top of the round.. if Carmir and Cinders are heading down stairs right now, this would could as one of the two rounds they have to spend working their way to their brothers, otherwise they can continue to discuss and wait till next round to start heading down the stairs...**
OOC: She is real bad. I mean she isn't bleeding out and is breathing steady enough. She is in no condition to move or even eat by herself but you think she probably wouldn't die if left somewhere safe for the moment. You also have no idea however if anyone else may down here in this basement or could come down from upstairs now that the service is over. But to answer your question, you could leave her and she would not die as long as it was not for an *extended* period of time
Carmir takes a deep breath. "I'm going to take her down to the room we rested in. I'll try to hide her there somehow. We need to find the other two. We can't leave them." He steps out of the cell and immediately hears the sounds come up from below. With wide eyes, he looks at Cinders. "Sparks! They're downstairs! And it sounds like they're in trouble!" He stomps a foot. "Get down there and help them. I'll be down as soon as I can get her hidden." Carmir moves as quickly as he can back to the room where they found the treasure chest to try to hide the kenku.
