So as Pokim leaps to the side to avoid the surge of radiant light, the floating greatsword strikes down and pins him to the stone floor. The sword pierces through his chest before disappearing as Cassandra lets out a loud laugh. "HAHA! YES! Throw them down with the other little monsters... let them see what happens when you resist the might of the Silver Lady!" A moment later, both Kyle and Chad struggle to grip the bleeding masses of hair and begin dragging them towards the edge of the pit. The children look up and for the first time they can see who had come to save them. As bloody faces of Pokim and Vruuk become visible at the edge of the pit, many of the children begin crying and yelling out in anger....
(So I will need some death saves from Pokim. Vruuk already made his and without some kind of intervention, he will die. It was round 5 out of 10 when Pokim went down. The round would have ended with them being dragged towards the pit. The End of round 6 would have them on the edge of the pit about to be thrown down.. So I will say we are on round 7 now. Both Cinders and Carmir were able to hear Cassandra's shout from above as it echo'd up the stairs.)
As Cinders and Carmir make their way down the stairs, they make their way into the entryway of the large opening of the crypt. Flames are burning on the stone floor in front of them as the alchemists fire continues to burn unhindered. They see blood spattered on the ground and trails of blood leading away from them towards a large pit in the center of the room. Scaffolding is setup in the center where a silver robed woman is laughing excitedly. She is looking down at two large silver robed men that are holding limp and bloody masses of hair. The moment you realized that the are holding the bodies of your brothers, the two men they Kick them down into the pit. The two bugbears fall forty feet, slamming into some of the wooden supports holding up the scaffolding before landing hard with a loud crash as their bodies seem to slam through the floor of the pit. The weight of the plate armored bugbears smashes through the bottom of the pit and uncovers a new area below.. The Kobold and Teifling cannot see anything in the pit from their position, but can hear the scared screams and crying of their younger brothers and sisters in the pit as their older brothers bodies disappeared into this newly uncovered crypt.
(So they do not see either of you, they are looking into the pit at the moment... Pokim and Vruuk are dead.. like.. dead dead... so what do you want to do?)
Cassandra will cackle delightedly as the whole opens up at the bottom of the crude mining pit. "Excelent... those flea bags were of great help to us!" She would exclaim as she motioned for Chad and Kyle to follow her down into the pit. Small kenku, goblins, kobolds, minotaurs, orcs, and tabaxi children scatter away from the three silver robed figures. Two of the children however remain much closer to the opening. Looking down into the pit, they can just barley make out what appears to be an incredibly ornate sarcophagus directly below them... along with the corpses of their two older brothers laying twisted nearby roughly 30 feet down. "Kyle and Chad" The woman would hiss as she makes her way to the edge of the hole. "Take the little monsters upstairs and put them with that mouthy kenku you taught a lesson earlier..." She would say with a sinister smile as she motions towards the scaffolding...
Kyle and chad make their way towards the Rustler and Slag, kicking them back towards the group with the kenku landing nearby the axe that had clattered down earlier during the battle. "Alright you savages... Your work is done... the SIlver Mother thanks you for your cooperatoin..." Kyle would say with a smirk. "Yeah.. now that you are of no use to us... I guess we can probably just let you all go.." Chad would say with a smirk before looking to his companion and then back to the children. Some of the young kids actually look hopeful.. wearing smiles for the first time since being captured days ago. Excited even about the possibility of being let go and they begin shuffling towards the scaffolding, their feet bound by chains... "What about mom and dad?" A small shaggy minotaur named George would ask, his hair matted with dirt and covering his eyes. Chad would look down to the small minotaur and spit "They arn't your parents... ain't no dwarves ever given birth to some monsters like you! And besides... We still need their help with.." "SHUT UP AND GET THEM OUT OF HERE"Cassandra would snap before Chad and Kyle begin motioning everyone up the rickety combination of steps and ladders that make up the scaffold.
(Carmir and Cinders can hear more talking and the sound of a lot of footsteps as if people are coming their way from down the steps. Vruuk is next to Slag and the axe while Chad and Kyle are currently focused on some of the other kids and Cassandra is focused on examining the hole... )
Out of perhaps all the kids gathered around, Rustler is the only one more curious than anything. Even the kick did little to diminish an ever present interest in every little thing about him. It was just another bruise among numerous others gained during the groups tenure. All quietly suffered through without rebellion or complaint. For all the seeming simple-minded acceptance of their lot, the moment Chad and Kyle glanced away from Cassandra's final shout, he made a move...
(@Wrecks: Don't s'pose I got advantage for the timing, right? T.T I'll post as if not for now)
Unless beaten to the punch by a more enterprising sibling, the silver feathered Kenku's casual attempt to slip the handaxe away turns into a stumble past it; a jolt of pain from prior bruises catching him off-guard. Young red-eye wisely keeps from looking at it after, hoping the clear pain in its expression covers the area while moving to leave after the others.
The small kenku manages to quickly swipe the handaxe while no one is looking and tucks it up the back of his shirt. His ruffled feathers helping to hide the outline of the blade as he begins following the group of siblings up the stairs. Many of the children are crying after seeing their brothers bodies crash through the floor while others are silent.. hopeful that they will be freed and that their parents could fix all of this. Towards the front of the line of children, George makes his way up the combination of ladders and steps before finally making his way into the horrific scene above. Small fires burning on the stone floor and long trails of blood stretching across the burial chamber.
So, you're saying that we can hear people coming down the spiral stairs as well as we heard the woman tell some of her helpers to get the kenku we rescued?
ooc: no, sorry. you heard Cassandra shouting about taking the kids to where the young ke ku girl was being held, and you van hear them making their way out of the pit.. making their way towards your location. You can no longer hear anything going on above you and you assume that the service is probably over.
So there wasn't much to hide behind in the room where you found Chirpee. You could try to hide under the table you found her laying on or possibly hide under the pile of dirty rags and sheets in one of the corners. Otherwise you could head up the spiral staircase just far enough that you cannot be seen by those coming up the stairs from below.
(@Wrecks: I forgot to ask this before, but are we still chained? And if so, is it a chain gang situation? Or some other fashion? And are we considered grapple/restrained while chained up? And lastly, is it possible to slip out with a sleight of hands or acrobatics check?)

"Sparks," Carmir says hurriedly to Cinders, "go up the stairs enough to be out of view. I'm going to pretend to be little sis." He closes his eyes for a second, making a strange gesture with his arms as he whispers, "Dissimulato induendum." As Cinders watches, Carmir turns into the bound, gagged and bloodied appearance of their little sister, though a little taller. Her eyes open and Carmir's whisper eminates, despite the bound beak. "When they've entered the cell, come down quickly. We'll have them hemmed in." He then turns to enter the cell and assume the position they found Chirpee in. Within his mirage, he has his rapier and one of his daggers ready to attack.

ooc: your arms are free but your feet are chained together. Each prisoner has their own set of chains.. basically manacles on their feet. basically your movement is halved and you can either pick the lock, try to wiggle free of the chains, or break then by attacking them with a weapon that could damage then or with am appropriately high athletics check
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As much as it was meant to comfort the children as it was cover the sound of his slipping the chains, Rustler sung a half-hummed song their mother rarely found herself doing when she thought no one could hear her. Not that he or their mother were particularly known for their singing voice. But it was sound of her at least he knew would bring comfort. At least, that is how it worked in the past...
"By axes and picks, we laid them all low, Yo-ho, and so we sung on By swords and hammers, we forged all below, Yo-ho, and so we sung on We children of Mouradin, with our hearts of steel, Sang o' we sang, praise the lord for our zeal!"
As soon as there was a bend in the stairway up that might place Rustler out of sight of either brother killers, he completes at least his first attempt at trying to slip out. Then using only taloned feet, works the manacles up in their top, if not passed along to another, more mischievous sibling to hide.
As Carmir casts his spell, his body transforms into the image you had just seen earlier. The Tiefling laying on the table disappears and is replaced with what appears to be the badly injured Kenku that Carmir and Cinders has just saved and hid moments ago. Cinders (Unless he says otherwise) nods and ducks up the stairs, and squats down so that he is almost completely hidden. The kobold will squat and bend his body so that he is just able to door to the holding room as the sounds of the siblings climbing their way up the steps gets louder.
George makes his way up the steps, his bruised and tired body feeling every step of the way as he makes his way to their cell... the cell that his brothers and him have spent every moment they have not been mining. Walking next to him, Kyle continues to prod him with the silver morning star.. pushing him to keep going and cursing under his breath.
At the back of the pack, making his way up the stairs is the young kenku Rustler. Rustler begins singing a song much to the annoyance of Chad, who is walking next to him. As Rustler sings his song, a few other siblings join in, prompting chad to turn away from him and look to the others as you make your way around the bend of the stairs. The Kenku struggles against the chains but is unable to get free. Chad however, has not noticed quite yet that you are no longer immediately next to him since you have fallen behind the group a bit..
Rather than be disappointed in failure, the silver feathered Kenku almost "smiled" at the results. Remembering the pain of Chad's kick, Rustler snaps out of distracting thoughts, and made ready to surprise Chad at the last possible moment on the steps by tripping him in such a way as to send the man tumbling well back to the bottom. After that... after that Rustler so sure. Mother never covered battle tactics to an extent, but leading the others to safety back would be what he /should/ do next. Maybe?

Approaching the doorway to the holding area, he would push the door open and curse under his breath while looking around and ushering the first of the children inside. Carmir spots the wounded silver robed thug push open the door and begin forcing kids inside. You get the impression he was expecting there to be others in the room besides a busted up kenku girl.
