Angie looks momentarily taken aback at being rebuffed, but quickly becomes resigned to paying the toll. She pulls one of the onyx stones out of her pouch and looks questioningly at the emaciated man. "I've been told that one of these is worth approximately 500 silver pieces. Do you have change?"
“I’m a toll collector, not a bank!” Svardgrim exclaims in a huff. He takes a moment and composes himself, then says, “What else ya got? I can make change for small sums only.”
Gobbler doesn't want to cause a ruckus as he is foreign lands right now. He goes in front of the group to prevent any conflict.
I humbly apologize on the behalf of these people for causing a disturbance. Allow me to make it up to you.
He grabs a coin and slides it to the toll collector and whispers, "Here's for your troubles, sir. The change is yours if you forget what you saw today.
Glaring at you all Svardgrim picks up the gold coin and bites it. “This one’s smart,” he says as he slips it into his pocket. “Now, get off my dock!” he snarls.
You all hurry past Svardgrim and the mercenaries and head up into town.
Thokein, as you asecend you notice a large, fat man, wearing a fur trimmed cloak that looks quite expensive. You surmise that the man witnessed everything that happened on the dock below as he is still staring at you while stroking his short black beard.
"Maybe we should find out what that guy wants." Angie says under her breath to her companions. "I'll ask him if you prefer. I'm normally very good with people." She glares behind her at the toll-man.
Not hearing any objection from her companions, Angie walks up to the large bearded man.
"Hey there handsome. Couldn't help but notice you staring in my direction." She makes a pose. "Why don't you paint a picture, it will last longer." She drops the pose and giggles. "I'm joking, of course. Is there anything we can help you with?"
“Haha, why hello there.. aren’t you a spunky little sprite. Yes, I was watching your exchange down on the dock. Quite a spectacle, so early. But, don’t mind old Svardgrim, he doesn’t represent all of Grim Village. His britches are just a bit too big for him, since he has the backing of the Jarl to levy a toll on the dock. Small man, with a bit of power you see.”
”Alas, where are my manners? My name is Remlaug Torolv, I am but a humble merchant here in Grim Village. And who might you be my dear?” Remlaug asks as he extends a plump hand to Angie.
DM Note: @TeamPlayer Please make an insight, or perception check. I’ll let you pick which one.
As you take Remlaug’s hand you notice that he has gold rings with fine cut stones on each finger. On his thumb though, the golden ring is wider and flat. Lacking a stone it instead is engraved with a symbol of scales. You have seen this symbol brandished by merchants before on your homeworld and know that it is worn by members of that guild, but the middle of this symbol does not end in a round base as you have seen before; Instead it tapers down into a sharp point to form a sword. Remlaug Torolv, is not just a merchant here in Trudvang, he is the city’s richest and leader of the storm hansa (Stormlander merchants) in Grim Village. He owns pretty much all of the merchant ships that lie in the harbor, and half of all customs end up straight into Remlaug’s pocket making him a realitively powerful man.
Remlaug looks Angie up and down and licks his lips, before saying, “And I you Angie.. I have never met a Valkyrie, before! You simply must come dine with me this evening... of course bring your shy friends over there. I may have an interesting proposal for a band of hardy looking mercaneries like yourselves!” he booms with a smile, before finally letting go of your hand to pull out a handkerchief and wipe his sweat beaded forehead.
Angie puts her hand to her mouth demurely and eagerly motions her companions to come over. When they get there she introduces everybody and tells her companions about Remlaug's invitation. "I told you I was normally great with people." She tell her companions.
Turning back to Remlaug she gives him a bounce and says "I think dining at your place would be very nice. How can we find it and where is it located?"
Remlaug points at a large stone house on the tallest point of a hill which is barely visible over the city’s center.
”Well met travelers! As Angie said.. I would be very pleased if you could join me at sunset to dine, so that we can get to know each other a little better,” he says with a wink at Angie. “I presume you’ll be somewhere in town? I’ll send someone to fetch you. Until then, just try to steer clear of the Jarl’s men, they can be a bit.. how shall I say? Pigheaded?”
Remlaug looks out to the dock where something catches his eye, then back to you and says, “Forgive me, but I really must be getting on...” before hurrying away at a speed you didn’t think possible for such a portly man. He calls over his shoulder, “I look forward to seeing you tonight, please come with an appetite!”
DM Note: You were almost out of earshot. Make a perception check with disadvantage due to the distance to see if you heard Angies whole conversation with Remlaug, before she waved you over (let’s assume she didn’t tell you about the flirting while he was still standing there, lol).
While you didn’t hear the entire conversation, you did make out Angie saying, “Heythere handsome. Couldn't help but notice you staring” followed by giggling and “Why don’t you paint a picture”, then from Remlaug “spunky”..”sprite”..”Valkyrie”... “dinewithme”.. “Imay have an interesting proposal!”

Whisper to the party, "I think we were overheard" and subtly nod towards the fat man.
Do you guys want to act on the info Thokein gave you, or continue into town?

"I'm Angie. Pleased to me you." Angie takes Remlaug's hand and does a formal curtsy while surreptitiously checking him out.
