When you stop whatever is in the woods also seems to stop. You can't see who, or what is back there due to the thick brush. When Gobber calls out you hear a hushes whisper as if two voices are arguing about something. But, can't tell which direction the voices are coming from.
Healer stands on his massive hind legs. Towering over the party facing the path behind them and bellows a roar of challenge with enough volume and force to make grass quiver and leaves shake. He drops back to all fours with a thud and looks pleased with himself.

You suddenly hear a creaky voice call out in common, "Please don't hurt us! We mean you no harm! We are just curious why you were diving into the lake!"
Angie takes a step towards the voice. "If you mean us no harm then we do not intend to harm you either. We have entered these woods to try to break the curse that plagues them. We jumped into the lake to retrieve a ring we saw therein. We are currently seeking an Elk that has wondered away from her owners home. We are here to help as many people as much as possible. If there is any help you could provide with any of those things we would be extremely grateful."

You watch as a group of three bluish-grey furred trolls emerge from the woods just ahead of you and a second pair emerges from further behind you. The trolls are garbed in patched clothing which includes netting in some areas. Their bare feet are caked in mud. Their appearance looks intimidating, but their demeanor is timid and shy.
"We saw the white elk get water from the lake and return back up the path whence you came a few hours ago. She is probably making her way back to Timil's hut as we speak. You should have left the ring in the waters. It is possessed by a wizard of some kind! It tries to trick you into wearing it as it likely seeks release! As for the curse... do you mean the demons arise from the earth?"
"Thank you for your warning regarding the ring," Angie says, "Do you happen to have any advice regarding what we should do with it? Regarding the demons, I think that they a part of what has been plaguing the forest, but perhaps you could tell us more about them."

"Throw the ring back in the lake. We will try to do a better job of keeping it there. But, you're party looks strong, so we were hesitant. We call the demons "Dark Dwellers"... they come from the earth, blood, and bone. Ever since Elmtongue disappeared when blood is spilled upon the soil here the Dark Dweller's arise. It is perhaps due to the Necromancer that came here in pursuit of Elmtongue and her power. He has captured the heart of the forest and made it his dominion, perhaps Elmtongue is there? We could escort you there.. but, you might want to wait until the morrow'.. perhaps stay with us tonight? It will be dark in a few hours."
Angie pulls her companions into a huddle and speaks to quietly for the Trolls to hear. "They seem trust worthy to me, after all they could have gotten the drop on us, and since giving that ring to Gobber, it's lost its charm. I say we heed their advice. What say you?"
"Sounds OK, but what to do about the elk? Should we go back to Timil and make sure it got home? Also, if it was headed up our path, why didn't we pass it?"
Thokein stops.
Angie stops as well and looks into the woods.

You see Gobber with the look of disappointment when he hears that the ring is worth very little. He begrudgingly listens and gives it to them.
