Mucor would fall down to one knee, coughing up blood for a moment before casting cure wounds on him self twice in a row (second level). Mucor would then also move around the room, looking for valubles or useful items to help their cause and those back at Daybreak.
Zin could be seen with his eyes closed and a sense of calm seemingly washes over him and you see his wounds quickly heal. (Wholeness of Body to regain 33HP).
"Great job all around everyone. Hopefully we can get these children to safety and they can have a chance at a real life. Outside of almost dying there and Daegon getting away this was a complete success!"
Zinmaer would also investigate to see if he could find anything of value that could benefit the group. 18
"Yes, I will seek him out immediately." Iris responds. A few moment later you hear her voice say, "He is gathering help as we speak you should see them soon." Gaelin departs from the group to go outside. From what you can tell all the kids are present and content to sit and wait outside now that their tortured friends and family have been returned to them. Some are still crying after finding out their sibling or friend was dead. About a minute later you see a group of soldiers approaching from the forest in the west along with a few Elanaetas druids including Inara.
Meanwhile, the group scours the room and bodies and you find 100 gold pieces and 20 platinum pieces between all the bodies. Mucor is too drained from battle to search and mostly just wanders around the room using Druidcraft to make mushrooms sprout on corpses. Zinmaer spends most of his time respectfully studying Graal, a deadly foe that had seemingly endless strength and stamina, and take the shiny amulet from his neck as well as all four battleaxes. Aryn finds a chest that contains a red cape with gold embroidery as well as a fine leather backpack with multiple side pouches. She discovers a false bottom and upon lifting it discovers a small box containing a diamond (1000g) , 2 rubies (500g each) and 100 platinum pieces.
As you pick through the corpses and examine the room you see Gaelin return with Inara. "Thank you. You've done well. Gaelin has informed me that Daegon was..." her voice trails off as she sees the corpse of Graal and takes in the layout of the room and altar. "We... we did not know he would be here. How did you manage to kill his lieutenant in addition to these others? Graal has single-handedly killed 10 of our druids this year alone." Inara goes silent as she examines the altar and the body of Graal for a few minutes. "We will need more mages to help us understand the purpose of these. I am sorry you had to face Graal by yourselves. We thought he they were located further east at an abandoned fortress. Please, rest and return to the castle. I will make sure the children are returned to their families. You've more than earned a reprieve."
"I'd argue but I'm too tired. May we stay and observe for a bit if we want?" Gaelin responds.
(I can identify the items here or at the castle depending if people want to stay or not. It's been so long since we were at the castle, RL time, I've had to go back and read.)
Graal's body appears to be the result of augmentation or extremely abnormal birth. While most orcs are large and muscular, Graal is nearly twice the size of the average orc and has two additional arms that seem to have grown from his midsection. While examining him you find a small pouch containing various trophies of slain enemies as well as a large emerald. (750g)
"Yes, you may stay as long as you want but I'm afraid it may be a few days before the mages arrive. They are already spread thin inspecting and examining similar scenes across Eraas." Inara responds.
"I'm heading back in 5 minutes", Aryn will say as she gathers her new toys and greets Inara. "Hey Inara, what can you tell us about Daegon and his lieutenants? How many does he have and who are they?"
"Daegon only trusts two people to be in his company at any time. His two lieutenants Aemyra and Graal. He will not be pleased when he discovers you killed Graal. He underestimated your abilities and will most likely not make the same mistake again. I fear that you will draw his full wrath." Inara responds.
Zinmaer would point to Aryn and say, "I'm glad she is on our side!" Also, I'm guessing we could expect that Daegon will fill the role of his 2nd lieutenant the next time we see them."
Zin would overhear Mucor and reply:
"Mucor, I think that is a great idea. So we should burn the body? Jinara do you have any spells that could do the trick? Let's do this and get out of here!"
"That is a brave statement. Though I do not believe all of you would be alive if he decided to stay and fight." Inara says to Aryn while looking over the party's recently healed wounds. She turns to Mucor and ZInmaer, "I agree. If your friends do not possess the ability you can leave the body with us and we will see that it is destroyed. I do not know if Daegon will promote someone up from the ranks or if he'll simply have one trusted ally. He is slow to trust even those he controls through magical means. We will continue to monitor his movements as much as we can though after this I fear we are always one or two steps behind."
Anyone that wants to make a medicine check to see if you know how to destroy Graal's body: DC 18
(I assume the only person around his body is Jinara and Gaelin if so, see below.)
Jinara rifled with rage in his eyes stands roughly 15 feet away from Graals body watching Gaelin examine the corpse. They glow a bright gold as if 2 small suns were placed where his eyes should be. He is breathing very heavily as if he just sprinted 10 miles. Without looking, he says telepathically "back up." He waits just a moment for Gaelin, but does not move himself. As Gaelin steps a few feet back, Jinara's eyes begin the change from the bright gold to an eerie green. He says in a deep guttural voice (in Draconic) "the scourge of this place does not deserve proper disposal." He reaches into his pocket to grab a small stone. As it is withdrawn, a bit of dust floats off into the air. In one swift motion he flings his upward through the dust particles and back down pointing a finger at Graal's body casting Disintegrate. As the spell ends, Jinara's eyes return to his normal black with gold rings in them, reminding you of an eclipsed sun. He turns to exit the room.
Jinara points to the body and a thin green beam of light forms on the end of his finger. A ray of energy bursts forth and illuminates the whole frame of Graal's corpse. The body begins to break apart and bit float up into the air. A flash of hot energy spreads through the room and only a pile of ash remains where the corpse once laid. Jinara exhales and walks out of the room silently. "Rest." Inara says to the group, "I will come for you soon."
Mucor grabs a spare bag from the corpses and puts the ash inside as a gift for Button. You all make your way out slowly supporting each other and exit the orphanage to a heart warming scene. The children are playing with the soldiers in the field. Portals periodically appear on various trees and a druid accompanied by a couple or full family walk through. A child stops playing and stands in shock at the sight of their family before both sides take off towards each other and meet in a time-stopping embrace. Similar occurrences happen periodically over the course of an hour until almost all of the children have been reunited with their families. Gaelin begins drawing a circle with chalk and as he finishes you are teleported to the castle. You make your way outside and see the sun sitting high in the western sky and know it's close to dinner time. As the adrenaline fades your bodies ache and groan with fatigue and hunger.
(Well done everyone! That was a tough fight. Graal kept hitting his increasing DC to survive but y'all powered through it.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Wooohooo! That was def one tough dude! Also I forgot to do an arcana check on Graal's amulet.)
Once the group arrives back at the castle, Zin would feel something in his pocket and he would pull out the amulet he had found on Graal's neck. He would look at it curiously and attempt to detect any magic. Arcana check 2
Gaelin will Identify any items that his friends want after he visits Valeera and takes a bath in her giant pool. He'll tell her about the battle and Graal then head down to the dining hall.
Mucor would limp back to the grove, not concerned with eating... his hair almost non-existant and his burns bright pink after the skin was reformed through healing. This horns charred and his breathing heavy... he would make his way to the small island in the center of the grove and collapse under the blanket of low hanging branches dragging below the weeping willow. After a few moments, The minotaur would raise his hand and motion towards himself without ever moving from his collapsed position. Mucor would lay with his face in the soft grass as the four skeletal goblins shamble their way towards him. Once they arrive, The minotaur would struggle hard to get to his feet. Using his staff to support much of his weight, he would instruct the skeletons to lay down on the ground. Once the were on the ground, he would smash them with his staff and kick the bones into the clear water of the pond. Once the skeletons were no more, he would collapse back against the tree.. his eyes fixed on the openings to the dragons lair and buttons cave as the first mushrooms begin to glow around him...
