As you finish making you plans you gather into your groups and instruct Varian where you'd like to be. He nods and speaks to the mages then has you each gather in separate sections of the room mounted on your griffons/ dragon. He gives you each one final word of encouragement and advice. "Blessings friends, remember to communicate and work as a team." and casts Telepathic Bond on each of you, Valeera and himself. "Let us know when you are ready for pickup." you hear in your mind. Your vision flashes white as you're magically teleported. You feel your mounts immediately begin flapping their wings and look around. The air is much cooler and you smell the familiar scent of the sea along with the subtle sound of ships pushing their way through the water. The sky is mostly dark but you see below you the armada of ships pressing forward as the sun crests the horizon casting the entire area in light. The horde has not noticed you but continues moving along through the sea. (Ships are moving east at 80 feet per round.)
Initiative Order: Group 1: Horde Group 2: Lightbringers
Torq will fly down 10 feet in front of the middle ship and when they're 20 feet from the water he'll dismount and fly down to water level. He'll place one immovable rod at ocean level in line with the middle of the ship depressing the button so it becomes stuck in place then will fly back to his griffon and head north with any remaining movement.

Aryn will fly southwest towards the part of the southeastern most ship where the big wooden wheel to steer would be. (I'm not sure IRL but my character would be. Based on my pirates knowledge it'd be near the back but idk.) She'll hover over about 40 ft above the ship and press the button then toss the sphere down onto the ship.
Attack/ Throw?: 17 Dex mod: +4 if proficient in throwing +9
Gaelin will tell Valeera to burn through the ship's masts and sails in front of them then use a scroll to toss a fireball towards the ship to the northeast. I'll try to have it centered between the front mast and middle mast in the air to try and hit as much of both as I can.

Torq flies down and in front of the lead ship as orcs and goblins suddenly notice griffons and riders around them. Torq dismounts and slams the rod into the top of the ocean as he presses the button on one end. A small shockwave of energy ripples through the water around the rod that not sits unmoving as a wave crests over it. Torq flies back to his griffon and head north while Aryn flies south towards the stern (back) of the ship and pulls out one of the spheres. She pushes the button and tosses it down into the crowd of surprised orcs. (You are proficient and can use dex.)
(The effects of your actions will occur on the next round when the ships and horde act.)
As Aryn and torq make their moves to the east Valeera and Gaelin drop down to approach the ship in front of them. Valeera gets within 10 feet of the center mast and comes eye to eye with a goblin in the crow's nest before releasing a jet of flame from her mouth. The force of the flames snaps the center mast in half and sends it toppling over to the north before the ropes tethering it to the ship pull taught and swing the mast back towards the center of the ship. Wood splinters and snaps as the heavy wood mast impacts the top of the ship crushing 6 orcs. Her breath propels further and strikes the forward mast burning a large hole in the front sails and badly charring the wood. The damaged mast cracks and snaps sending the top half of the burning mast and sails into the bow (front of the ship).
As Valeera releases her fiery breath, Gaelin pulls out a scroll and reads it aloud causing a bead of red energy to form in his hand. He tosses it into the air leaving a small red trail behind it before exploding between the forward and center masts of a ship to the northeast. The force of the explosion pushes the main sails back into the mast ripping them as flames begins to lick up the shreds. The forward sails are blasted forward and stretch to their limits causing small tears in them while part of them catch flame. The masts remain upright and the top sails intact for now. Though neither could withstand another blast of equal force.
(Each Mast & Sails combo has 50 HP. If a spell's range is able to hit both they each take the full amount of damage. Masts are 25 feet apart)

(It's been my experience that the quality of the game is greatly dependent on the players adoption of their characters and creativity. While a bad DM can ruin a game, even a poor DM can have amazing games if the players embrace the spirit of the game. When it all comes down to it, it's about everyone having fun. Luckily we have a great group of players!)
Mucor would point his staff towards the water next to boat to his west and snort as spores swirl around him. Pointing his tree-like staff, he would begin making a circular motion. Moments later, the water under the boat would begin to swirl faster and faster as the center of the circle drops deeper and deeper as the minotaur control waters the water to make a huge whirlpool. "Perhaps his will slow the shi.." He would mutter..

Jinara would pull out his wand and send 8 magic missiles towards the ship closest to him (SW) sending 4 missiles at the main sail, 3 at the front sail and 1 at the ship's wheel operator. As his bonus action, he will drink a potion of fire breath while DoomTail gets into position for a dive bomb run.
