Not wanting to be apart of the chit- chat and jokes, Onyx would steer away from the others, instead teaming up with Yera. An odd pair of Paladin and bounty hunter, but the gray dwarf still had a whiskey in hand to make the stroll easier.
The wiry rogue staggers a little with the power of the Minotaur's clap on his back, but he grins up at the large fellow with easy amiability.
"Sounds good t' me partner, I like the way you think. Course, I reckon we'll be a touch discreet about his daughter. From what I've seen, most Papa's don't ken to fellas tryin' to have a tumble with their girls." Quentin will glance at the others in the party, "Anyone else fixin' to join us can meet us at the barracks, otherwise me an' Tiny here'll meet ya'll back at the Queen later on."
With a waving gesture of his hand, "Come on Mucor, lets kick rocks." The rogue starts making way northeast toward the barracks, whistling a jaunty and lilting tune as he heads forth.
Onyx & Yera: The town hall board has a mixture of simple and difficult job opportunities. A 10 gold reward for a lost ring, a farmer with a rat infestation, Asheborn- a northern town requesting the slaying of a young dragon that is stealing livestock, Thorpe- a south western town dealing with a tribe of goblins and a nearby dwarven mine that's experiencing "problems".
Mucor & Quentin At the barracks you're directed to a stout human male who introduces himself as Jesse Duke. He thanks you for your groups aid with the gnoll camp and tells you that a scouting party had discovered and was tracking an orc and goblin camp that was hiding out in a local mine a little over a week ago. After that they never heard anything back from the scouts and he doesn't have the men to spare to find them with the war in the south stretching his ranks thin as it is.
Gabriel: Riverwood doesn't really have a slums but you find yourself speaking with low ranking guards and shop keepers and discover stories about the disappearance of townsfolk from Emvale to the northwest and stories of resurrected orc and ogre zombie armies in the south that are used to take over local towns then the populace are enslaved and used to make weapons of war.
Gabriel ponders this new information as he seeks out his companion Onyx. Of all his companions, he finds he has the greatest respect for the grim dwarf and his skill in battle. "Grim tidings come from the south of undead activity. I suggest we investigate further." He says to the duergar. As one who has taken clerical vows, Gabriel views the undead as deserving of death as any criminal who has felt the executioner's blade on his neck.
"So what ya think Quentin? You wanna see if the others are interested in clearing out an old mine?" The minotaur will say scratching behind his ear and then wiping mushroom debris from the tips of his fingers.
Grunting: You are able to assist an elderly woman pick up some supplies that she dropped in the street, entertain some kids who looked bored by doing tricks with Gump and help a pig farmer get rid of a bug problem.
Quentin gracefully thanks Mr. Duke for his time and information, though naturally he doesn't make any mention of the man's daughter, of course. In response to his companion's query, the rogue makes a thoughtful face and replies, "Sure nuff', partner. Whole scouting party gone... that don't bode well for nuthin'. We'll run it by the gang when we see em' again at the Queen."
Just then however, Gabriel enters and Quentin nods a greeting in his direction. "Good to see ya to, Gabriel." The young man absorbs what the cleric says and his right eyebrow arches upward dramatically. "Undead activity to the south ya say? Yeah, that'd be a grim tidin' alright. We jus' found out from Mr. Duke over here that these good folk up'n had a whole scoutin' party disappear goin after some orcs and goblins in a local mine. Sounds like this town is up to it's short and curlies in trouble." The rogue sighs and fixes his cerulean eyes on Gabriel. "I reckon them undeads got yer gander up a fair bit more than an infested mine though. Lets meet back up with the others and see if'n we can come up with a plan of action."
Quentin chuckles lightly before turning to head back toward where he can meet the others, "One thing's for damn sure clear. We ain't gonna be hurtin' for work round these parts, no sir."
Looking over the board with Yera, none instantly caught the gray dwarfs eye, "Which ever pays the most has my vote, but a bounty be a bounty and something to add to my collection. I guess we bring this back to the others for their valuable opinions, eh, holy one? "
Grunting, after his good deeds for the day, will go back to The Queen. he makes the room arrangements for the night and grabs the leftovers out of the backpack. eating half himself and half to Gump.
Yera raises an inquisitive eye at Onyx. "Doesn't slaying a dragon sound the faintest bit exciting? Even if it's only a youngster, that'd still be quite a feat." She looks back at the bounty board, "But if money's what you really want, I bet the foreman of that mine would have quite the pretty penny." She shrugs and begins to walk back to the Riverboat Queen, "And killing some goblins feels a little, eh, safe. Ya know what I mean?"
"Ay. I have never tangled with one of them scaley bastards, but the prestige... and besides, it might not pay as much as the others, but I bet if we bring the carcass back to sell for parts it would more than make up for it." Onyx would follow alongside Yera, "Perhaps, but I ain't too eager to go back into a mine if I can avoid it. I certainly don't mind splitting goblin skulls."
"The undead don't bother me much" The shaggy minotaur will say rubbing his chin, listenting to the others. "Mobile mushroom farms if you ask me.." Mucor will say with a grin. "But! To many undead start to throw off the balance of things so I imagine something really should be done about them...." The minotaur will say almost looking sad... I do enjoy the idea of exploring a dark musty old mine though... who knows what kind of fungi could be dwelling down there..." He will say looking off into the distance.. as if imagining strolling through a sea of mold and mushrooms...
"I have to say, slaying a dragon is more than a little appealing to me, but maybe the others caught wind of some other interesting work." Going over the bounties in her mind, Yera found it hard for her to remember all the details of the jobs they had found, so before heading back to the inn, she'll stop by the market place and search for some ink, a pen, and a few sheafs of paper. (10gp for an ounce of ink in a bottle, 2gp for 10 sheets of paper, and 2cp for a pen according to the PHB for a total of 12gb, 2cp)
(so, I like to imagine that this is the woman that Quentin is hitting on.. not saying it is accurate, but I find it amusing. )
(accurate)
(If that was the barmaid Onyx would have been more interested)

(ROFL, thats definitely my head canon now)

Gabriel heads to the slums, downtown, or whichever area of the city is sunken in abject poverty. The slums are where the information is at.

Though Gabriel finds the irrepressible rogue's jokes irritating at times, he has come to like Quentin. "Indeed. This matter requires close attention."

Yera is able to find everything she needs.
"Of what use are your coins if the undead have overrun the earth? So greed is the ruin of us all." Gabriel growls in frustration.
